Criminal activity

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE -- Let me start by saying I am a fairly new customer(signing on 2 months ago)related to the fact that all I received a quote that beat my current auto coverage. (claim free drivers) Who wants to pay more when you never have claims or tickets right?
First let me say they have billed me multiple times, without crediting my credit, which means guess what I've paid almost $2000 for a bill that was supposed to be $685- *fraud and theft*
The company gives you run around the rosy-doing nothing, not to mention the worst customer service I've encountered in my 20 years of insurance and business deals.
Dropping within 2 months without a claim- wasn't that easy money for them? or should I say theft related to the fact that I am still trying to get a refund amount. Lucky to leave prior to needed their help when in distress or actually having a claim- I feel deeply for anyone who may have experienced that. Lets keep America strong and tear this company down before they steal lye and cheat our fellow family members, co workers, and friends.
No more 21st Century Insurance------PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Long story short- the initial quote was for $951.00. I paid via credit card. Then another bill came saying the policy would be $1220. I had already dropped Progressive, so I figured I would swith some deductibles on the policy and we started a brand new policy with higher deductibles and only liability on one of our older vehicles our daughter drove and dropped her from our insurance. They were to reimburse the 1st policy, and started the new policy at $685.00. I spoke with a supervisor to get this change.
Never was reimbursed and now have $685.00 and the initial policy of $950 something yet out there.
Was a Progressive customer for a long time before switching, it was a very bad move, and they lied about the refund of the initial policy on the credit. A circle jerk to make profit.

Contact the governmental authority in your state that oversees insurance companies. I would love to be a fly on the wall when they try explaining conducting business like this in your state.

Buyer Beware

I was unfortunate enough to be covered by AGI, which became 21st Century. A couple of weeks ago I received a notice of non-renewal because that the company was no longer writing this business line. The letter was dated two weeks earlier. I have never had the need to contact 21st Century regarding my automobile, an accident, or any type of late payment. In fact, my insurance was on automatic withdrawal.
My insurance expired last night at 12:02 in the morning. I travel a great deal and may have not been aware of this. This company raised my rates, only contacted me to tell me how happy they were to represent me after merging with AGI, took my payments, always on time, and then sending me a non-renewal notice.
This company has no client's interest at heart, I have read the massive complaints directed at 21st Century. Buyer beware-if you were a past AGI client, this company received your policy by default, has no loyalty, and certainly no integrity.

Since 21st Century Insurance (a subsidiary of Farmers Insurance Group) uses 'direct channels' (one that eliminates the use of human agents) to sell it's product you can expect that they won't have much offer in the way of integrity or honesty.

Lying about refund

CALIFORNIA -- Was told that my refund would be mailed from So California to No. California on Aug 15, 2009. Have not received it as of today Aug 20, 2009. I was directed to Delaware to find out what is going on. I do not recommend this company.

I'd say give it a couple of more days. Mail does still take time to get from one place to another.

There's a chance that they put it in the mailbox on the 15th, but the mail already came that day, so it was picked up on the 17th (since the 16th was a Sunday). If that's the case, it could take a couple more days to get to you. If you don't get it in your mail on Friday or Saturday, that's when I'd start to get concerned.

No they are criminals. Same thing just happened to me a year later, next time I'm looking at these sites prior to trusting. how long did it take to get your money back, did you have to use a legal route?

RIVERSIDE, RHODE ISLAND -- I got a quote on a policy for me and my spouse. Two months later they raised the premium for addition 100.00 more, when I question them, they give me an excuse that they added my daughter to the policy without my consent.

I canceled the policy with another charge of 34.00. I refused to pay any additional charges. A month later they put it through a collection agency. They are just deceitful!!

The crux of this matter appears to be that they added your daughter. What was the explanation they gave at that time for adding her?

The rest appears to be that you didn't pay what you were billed. Did you dispute it or just not pay the bill? These answers determine whether or not they were deceitful.

It seems odd that the company would add someone to your policy without you requesting it. And if they did why couldn't they simply remove her from the policy and reduce your premium?

I had the same inclination that BobSF had. I would further suggest addressing the issue with collections now as opposed to letting it set on your credit. The longer things fester, the less likely you'll be able to dispute any disagreed upon amounts.

I have StateFarm, but...they had my Dad listed as a licensed driver in the household. When he gave up driving, I reported it to them and they said it was OK and it didn't make any difference on my policy...he still has a driver's license, but doesn't drive. When his license expires this year, we are just getting him a State ID instead. Then I will tell them to remove him. Funny thing though, when I brought up my account on the Internet noticed they also have my Mother listed! I got my policy on my own and had no one listed, now they have my Dad and Mom on it...My Mother passed away 4 years ago and never had a driver's license in her life. I don't know how she got listed on my policy, they must have had her on my Dad's and just transferred both to mine. I'll have to straighten that out if it's costing me more money. Her name is not on my billing or any printed material I get from them...I only noticed it on the Internet when I bring up my account.

Thanks for the heads up, although we have different insurance companies, I've found your review very helpful.

I do believe if you have a young licensed driver in your household, your insurance automatically goes up because they figure the young adult will be using your car.

TEXAS -- I'm really glad I read all these reviews. I just got a great quote from them but all these negative reviews helped me make up my mind instantly. I will continue with the company I have been with for 40 years. Guess you get what you pay for.

I went from mercury to 21st because they were lower priced. However if you are a costco member you are eligible to get Ameriprise, probably my last car insurer.

Stay Away From This High Priced Company

I recently bought one more additional vehicle and wanted to see if any other companies were cheaper then what I already have. After receiving the quote from 21st Century I was amazed at how high it is. The quote they gave me for my situation was $2400 for six month. I presently have insurance through Farmers for $700 for six months.

Lesson learned never trust a company that says its cheaper! When I first switched to Farmers from Allstate I saved over $500 a year.

You know, I did an auto quote with 21st insurance too, and they were also the highest quote I received. Definitely won't be going with them! Then they actually sent me a letter saying "your low quote of $250 per month!" I just laughed and threw it in the trash.

21st Century Insurance Company used to be known as AIG Auto Insurance...

Maybe they are giving people such high quotes for auto insurance so they can pay back the United States Government for the bailout they received a couple of years ago!

I switched from mercury to 21st because the premium was lower. When I did the internet comparison, at least for my situation, 21st was the lowest.

Amazing Claims Service

Recently I was traveling out of state to attend my father's funeral. Unfortunately, I hit a dear at 70 miles an hour. The damage to my Saab was extensive but I continued to drive to my destination, I contacted 21st Century and they assured me that I my car would be repaired. An agent called me, arranged a repair company, arranged a rental car and assured me that the repairs would be guaranteed. I was so impressed because I had purchased the policy not long before and it was over $200 cheaper than Geiko. I only pay $700 a year for two cars! I never expected such incredible service for such a reasonable price. It is not often nowadays to get great service and a great deal - you usually have to settle for one or the other. It is well worth your while to check this company out!

Cancellation of Homeowners Policy

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- 21st Century apparently stopped writing homeowners policies in California and cancelled all of their existing policies. Did this happen to anyone else? Let me know.

They are now or perhaps have always been underwritten in California by Homesite but their customer service and communication are extremely poor. I canceled my policy when I could not get all of my documents nor anyone to respond to my repeated requests for them.
