PORTLAND, OREGON -- I have been going to mall 24 Hour Fitness for over a year, I use the pool more than anything else in the facility. the pool is very dirty, at times one is unable to see the bottom of the pool it is so unkempt. a huge number of clients that use the pool and spa use the side of the facility to blow their nose and spit openly, some of the clients spit inside the pool. Trying to enjoy the steam room is another adventure as patrons will get water and then spit it into the sensors of the steam room to increase the steam. In the past year Multnomah county has been called a number of times and has forced the club to repair broken tiles (that were beginning to mold) along with replacing the spacers on the flooring that were broken if a person stepped just so one could really hurt an ankle or leg.
Just recently the club has decided it needed to save money so the temperature in the pool has been lowered.
I have talked numerous times to the club and corporate management and nothing has been changed. As soon as my membership is up yes I am finding another gym. Katu recently profiled most of the problems with this location and nothing has changed.
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA -- Hi from Member # BS 204 278
Club #814 needs 10 pound Iron Grip Weights. Order about quantity 20.
Thanks for your diligence in keeping the club 814 supersport in great shape. I work out early most mornings and use almost every thing in the gym at some point in time and it is all well maintained even with the high usage the gym sees.
I noticed that in the free weight area is can be hard to find a 10 pound Iron Grip weight (which is probably the one you need the most when trying to go up in measurable but small increments). If I do a rough count I notice about 20 or so 10 pound weights and over 100 of the 45 pound Iron Grip weights. You can always find the right weight but you need to scrounge around more and it impacts the efficiency of your work out time.
My recommendation would be to invest in another 2 dozen or so 10 pound Iron Grip weights next time you are up grading or ordering.
Thanks for listening. Call me if you want more detail. 650-400-7752. Ask any trainer there or customer and they will confirm.

Swimming Pool Too Cold
If you want to join to swim or to use the swimming pool, beware that although they claim to keep the water at 85 degrees, they don't. Water at a lower temperature than 85 degrees is way too cold. Stop ... read full review

I recently cancelled my membership (2-7), and was shocked to see a charge on my credit card 3 weeks (2-25) after cancellation. I had the membership for 6 months, and when I signed the contract, I paid 2 months (60) days membership in advance, and every month afterwards I paid 1 month's membership, so I was never prepaid for less than 30 days. So, I called and asked why I was charged and this was the response I received. "Your contract states you will give notice 30 days before your contract expires, and you were paid thru February 25, so the payment applied on February 25 is valid thru March 25, and the initial payment at contract signing will then cover you thru April 25."

So, basically, they will apply the initial payment to whatever dates they see fit and then fill in the gaps with new required payments. In order for me to cancel on February 7, I had to pay thru April 25, 2 months and 19 days, way longer than 30 days.
BROOMFIELD, COLORADO -- Wow, wish I had read these posting BEFORE joining the club. With the downward economic turn my wife is facing layoff so we are cutting back. One of the things to go is our 24 Hour Fitness membership. It took them less than 24 hours to begin falsely charging my debit card. When I contacted customer service the person was rude and offered no assistance, just kept talking in circles. When I asked to speak with a supervisor I was told it'd be "hours" and then was transferred to my own home phone. Cute touch but it did make sure I am following through. I've filed a complaint with the BBB and have challenged the charge on the debit card.

I can tell it's going to be a headache so I want to make sure I warn people to AVOID 24 HOUR FITNESS!!!!!!
VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON -- READ THIS: if you're serious about purchasing a 24-hour fitness membership, be sure to wait until you get an ALL CLUB, including super sport, membership. I paid over $800 initially to get a $7 a month all club Except Super Sport membership. A new club, Vancouver, WA 131st Ave - Super Sport is opening less than two miles from my home, but I won't be "grandfathered" in because I didn't get the "super sport" membership or I haven't spent more than 51% of my time at the old Active club in the last six months. The old club hardly had any classes and no pool or sauna so of course I went to other clubs. There was no advance warning of this "policy" - the manager said they didn't even know it was going to be a "super sport" club until a couple of months ago and they didn't come up with this "grandfather" policy until a month ago.
Tip: wait until late summer to join as there are more membership discounts - usually August is the best time. I understand Bally also has really cheap monthly rates if you pay a lot upfront - a friend now pays only $5 a month there and has all club access.
Isn't it funny that on all the 24-hour fitness complaint pages there are Numerous Ads for 24-Hour Fitness Memberships - Ha!
CALIFORNIA -- My MC was stolen and it is tied to my 24 hour fitness account. I received phone calls from 24 hour fitness asking me to update my account. But after updating my info, 24 hour fitness were still calling me 6 times a day as early as 8am on weekends. I finally called them back and it took me 3 times to call them back reminding them that my profile has been updated and to remove my phone number from their call list.
It was difficult reaching them since their number results in a hang up, busy signal or just dead silence. One agent answered my call by saying, "HELLO?" I asked if this was 24 hr fitness and she nonchalantly said, "YEAH?" I asked the agent if this is how she answers the phone for this company and took a deep breath upon saying the typical 24 hr fitness tag line.
I asked for the supervisor and supervisor (OMAR) was blatantly rude to me as if I were creating a nuisance for them as I mentioned my concerns. I asked for his manager and denied his managers whereabouts and would not provide me any info to where and how I can escalate my complaint.
I've researched several complaints regarding 24 hour fitness employees. 24 hour fitness is tolerating rude, unprofessional and incompetent people to work in their company. They will loose a lot of regular customers like me in the near future if readers like yourselves would take time and spread the word as well. I am very disappointed with their service and unwillingness to help me.
