Ace of Diamonds Tuna
Posted by -a_coppa on 08/24/2008
In all my years of grocery shopping I would purchase 3 diamonds tuna in cans. It was leaps and bounds above all other brands in my opinion. 3 Diamonds has sold and is now called Ace of Diamonds Tuna. No longer is the Tuna chunks that you can flake off. Its mushy and appears to be ground up. I will no longer use this brand as I feel it is low quality. What a shame....

If they had only named it Jack of Diamonds...

Things may have turned out differently.

buy tuna in vaccum sealed bags. it is far better.
Posted by GenuineNerd on 2008-08-25:
I agree-the Star Kist in the bags is a lot fresher tasting than the canned tuna. And as far as canned tuna goes, Star Kist is my favorite as well...I usually get the tuna in water rather than tuna in oil.

Product Contamination
Posted by Ron67vet on 05/05/2009
While eating a sandwich made with Ace of Diamonds Solid White Tuna, a premium product, I bit into a fairly large fish bone. Luckily I didn't swallow it. I believe this is now a product of Chicken of the Sea.

I will never again purchase tuna sold by Ace of Diamonds or Chicken of the Sea.

Poor quality canned tuna
Posted by Waymai on 03/19/2007
The Ace of Diamonds (formerly 3 Diamonds) tuna I bought 3/16/07, described on the can as 'chunk white tuna', was indeed tuna and did have some visible chunks, but it was closer to soup than any other can I have ever bought. If you ever tried to drain the liquid from soup, you know there's not much left to eat. This product made one TERRIBLE slimey sandwich.

Never heard of this brand of tuna. There is nothing worse than eating a slimey sandwich unless part of it actually drips on you as well. Better upgrade to a better brand.

"Chicken of the Sea"
Posted by heaven17 on 2007-03-19:
Sounds like an off brand. I can't recall what brand it was, but I tried one of those cheaper tunas and there was about half a can of fish inside. I'm with everyone else. Go for Starkist.
Posted by Ponie on 2007-03-19:
My favorite is Bumblebee solid white Albacore. Of the last 4-pk. I bought, one can turned out to be 'shredded' white Albacore. After being properly drained, it was edible but I prefer it chunky.
Posted by CT on 2011-11-04:
3 out of the last cans of solid white albacore tuna in water were brown and white and one had a 1 3/4 inch bone in it. never again, only geisha brand for me. the consistency is the thing. ALWAYS what it says on the label:SOLID WHITE albacore tuns in water. not brown and grey.

You dont like the tuna or you dont like that it went from 6oz to 5?
Posted by BokiBean on 2009-07-30:
They want more of that nasty tuna...
Posted by Ponie on 2009-07-30:
Jerry, where ya been? ALL tuna (unless packaged a long time ago and probably near it's expiry date) now comes in 5 oz. cans. What's Ace of Diamond tuna? Is it a local product? Never heard of it, but that's not unusual.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-07-30:
The tuna in the packets is way better than canned tuna.
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-07-30:
best answer yaya!

When I buy tuna in the can I am fully aware that it is packed in water or oil and is not a pristine tuna steak stuffed into a friggin' can just yesterday! (BA)

The worst product I have ever purchased to serve my family
Posted by Sunny430 on 07/09/2009
I purchased this product months back at my local supermarket (it was on sale) I had never tried this brand before. But, I figured what could someone do to all white meat tuna. All I can share with you is that not only was it disgusting in taste, but in color and it had no foundation - pure mush. And the worst part was when I looked on the can for a number to contact the company - there was a incorrect 800 number and when I called my product manager at my local market and told him about the horrific product - he informed me that he was sorry but they had no number or mailing address for Ace of Diamonds and the warehouse that it came from could not provide it.
So, the next best thing is to post my revue and warn people everywhere even if they offer this horrific product for free DO NOT TAKE IT - the life you save may be your own!

HOW MANY months back?

Just bought a four pack of solid white tuna. Ace of Diamonds "chicken of the Sea" tuna. The smell and consistency is awful. Mush says it and the smell is overpowerful. I called thE TUNA council but got perSOn TO SPEAK TO.I hope I don't get sick As I had it in a salad. My husband refused to eat it because of the smell. I have saved the cans and plan to take all back to store purchased.

About 20 years ago I came across a can of 3 diamonds tuna that
someone had left in one of my rental units.
I opened it and the smell took me back to my childhood in the fifties.
Before they started selling "chicken tuna" chicken of the sea,
breast of chicken, etc, canned tuna used to be DELICIOUS!
It was NOT white or tan and it didn't look like chicken.
It was PINK and it had a wonderful smell.
Anyway, I fixed the little can of tune and was transported back
to the fifties when food tasted GOOD, and wasn't so full of
crap, additives, HFCS and other garbage.

Rick - I grew up on 3 Diamonds Tuna - my mom wouldn't buy anything else
Posted by Jan on 2013-12-07:
Carole, if it smells bad, it might actually be dolphin in that particular can, not tuna. Some dolphins are high in mercury, also. You might check with someone to see if they can ascertain if the can was really dolphin and got past the inspectors.

Ace of Diamonds Tuna
Posted by Headache on 05/13/2009
I just opened the most disgusting can of tuna fish I have ever seen. It appeared brownish in color, had a not so good smell and yes, there were bones evident. Never again will I buy this product!

Never heard of that brand...sounds disgusting! Did you call them to let them know?

I hate tuna in the can, all of it..if you haven't already, try the packages of tuna or albacore, much better quality and taste.
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-05-13:
Why is that I can buy all brands of the tuna in the can as oppossed to the much heralded "tuna in a pouch" and never have this problem?
You get what you pay for and I doubt calling the company that packaged it will help unless you got sick....Time to upgrade on your choice of tuna.
Posted by madconsumer on 2009-05-13:
actually tuna bones are eatable, and good for you.

next time, try the pouch tuna, it is more costly, but well worth it.

Keep me on my toes, JBC!

I've never heard of this brand of tuna but I would be willing to bet that it was purchased at a neighborhood Asian Food store or a Dollar Store.

Trust me on this one and their page claims that the tuna is "Flipper free".
Posted by jktshff1 on 2009-05-13:
I've never opened a can of tuna that did not smell like bad fish )(
Posted by Anonymous on 2009-05-13:
That canned chicken that sits on the shelf next to the tuna is no deli delight either.
