Acer Aspire
By -

I bought an Acer aspire less than 6 months ago, the battery started getting hot and I would have to shut it down so it would cool. The battery would get hot within 2 hours of turning it on, and never would show 100% charged. While using it one day I started smelling burning wire smell and immediately shut it down, when I picked it up it shocked my left hand, that's when I noticed that the plastic cover on the battery was cracked on the left side.

When I turned it on the next day my screen was a split screen, a computer tech I know told me the crack was from the battery overheating and that I had a bad battery, the split screen was also caused by the battery overheating, he said the left side is where the graphics card is located. This person is also an Acer dealer, he said my warranty should cover it.

I tried to go online to Acer's online service, and the website does not work, I called the service line, only to be told it was my fault the battery was bad, and I would have to pay $190.00 to fix it, the warranty does not cover damages that are my fault. This jerk told me I overcharged the battery, **, I never charged it for more than 8 hrs. Acer company is crooked, I guess you get what you pay for.

Wondering why I opted for Acer laptop
By -

MUMBAI, MISSISSIPPI -- I got my new Acer laptop (5738Z) from Saudi Arabia last month from an authorized dealer without an OS loaded. After starting there was no sound in the speakers, headphone if connected works. One fine day the voice got activated but for some hours only, till now same. Yesterday I saw a black mark with a light reflecting within on my screen. There is no sign of any accident or feel of it. Called CS of Acer, they will charge me for both registration and work thereafter. International warranty Acer claims??? I don't feel like using it rather repenting why I opted for Acer. Can some tech of Acer help me in this case? I am from Mumbai.

CLEARLAKE, CALIFORNIA -- This laptop cost me 698.00. I have not been able to get anything right since I got it Nov. 2009. First the DVD stopped playing then my administrator password was rejected, now my laptop power lights come on but black screen, no sound, no ACER sign when booting, nothing. Someone help me if you know what to do about this. I'm pulling my hair out over here. I've only had this a year and a half. I just started using it Dec. 2008. I hate that it's so messed up. Screen is nice laptop is nice if it will ever work right.

Never Buy An Acer
By -

I bought an Acer Aspire 5050 "new" from Staples. Within 2 months it had to be sent back for repair for a sound problem. Acer sent it out when it was done, except they sent it back to themselves. We went all the way to Temple, Texas in person to handle this. After I got it back, it worked OK except the sound issue was never fixed like they said. Then the hard drive went out and it had to be sent back again. It was returned with a much smaller hard drive in it. Then the CD/DVD drive went out and it was sent back AGAIN. It was returned with a different CD/DVD drive. A couple months later the computer had to be restored and now it doesn't recognize the drive at all.

After contacting Acer tech support, I was told that it is no longer under warranty and they won`t even talk to me unless I pay for their tech support. Acer put down that the problem has been solved. NOT!! We have bought Acers for years and never had any problems. Now we own 3 laptops and had planned to buy 16 more for employees, but that will not happen now. Acer has gone downhill so far that I, nor anybody else I contact, will ever buy another Acer product. Acer USED to be top-of-the-line, but now I believe they are scraping the bottom of the computer list.

We are now going to unload these junk laptops and buy some from companies who make quality laptops and most of all, who will stand behind their products. I plan to make sure everybody on the internet knows how sorry Acer has become.

Refusal To Honor Good Faith Time Limit For Repair
By -

My son received an Acer Aspire 3680-2682 Laptop for Christmas last year. About August it crashed. We took it in for a diagnostic and was told the hard drive was dying. Because we had had it less than a year, the computer store told us to contact the Company (Acer) and the laptop should be covered under the warranty. When I called, they were rude and told me that despite the fact the laptop was a gift, and had been in use less than 8 months, it had been bought in June of the year before and they would not cover it.

I tried to get a receipt from the person who made it a gift, and was told a check copy was all they had, that the receipt had been lost at Christmas by accident. Again the company refused. It is frustrating to try to get any help from this company. Also, no cd's were included with this computer so that I can get someone to fix it and restore the programs that were put on it from the manufacturer. So now I have a laptop that can't be used and will cost as much as a new computer to fix without the proper cd's to restore it anyway.

Really Bad Computers

SOUTH BEND, INDIANA -- I spent $1000.00 for a Laptop, so I had something that I thought would be good. What I got from Acer was a piece of **. I took it back 2 times and it came back to me working like garbage. I also sent it to another place to fix it and it still worked badly. It is now sitting without being able to be used. They want me to send it back, but they want $400.00 to even start to work on the computer. It was bad from the start and should be fixed. It is 2 years old and now it won't even start up.

Defective Acer Laptop Computer

SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA -- I purchased a laptop 12/18/07. In the latter part of January or beginning of February 2008 the laptop ran hot and shut down. When it came back on the computer would not log on. It sat idle for 2 months and could not turn it on. I returned it for a refund explaining the above complaint and asked for a refund of money paid $782.00. The Better Business Bureau and the Federal Gov, ConsumerAffairs was notified but the company refused to refund the money. Acer wants first $200.00 to repair. I refused to pay. Laptop yet under warranty. Now Acer wants $100.00 to repair this laptop.

If I don't accept this offer the company plans are to return it in this condition, or they will dispose of the computer. Something must be done. This is robbery for selling defective or refurbished equipment. People listen. Don't buy Acer, product is no good and the co is a big lie. If we were a well name star this would not happen. This is a gift to my granddaughter. Stay away from Acer/don't buy from QVC.

Lost Money/Bad Reputation
By -

GREECE, HELLAS -- I bought this laptop, almost a year ago from Athens, Greece. I was never informed that the model was the best customer in after sales care! And how gentle! I couldn't (sorry I cannot) play music or see a DVD. 3 weeks later, after I couldn't return it, I realized. I sent my laptop to service and took them 1 month!!! No joking to get it back! And the best: it wasn't fixed. I preferred to keep it and try formatting it on my own, in case something works better. But nothing happened.

Now that the guarantee is over 2 weeks ago, I noticed a crack on the back side of my 17' screen. My question is, where I can call to and fix it or repair it, I don't know if it is possible. Every time I open my laptop the crack goes deeper and I don't know for how long will survive before I see the liquid crystals come out!! Please, someone advice me for my rights before I am not able to read out of this screen.

It is incredible how a company may let so many unsatisfied customers ruin their reputation. If their marketing department wants to save the label's future must act immediately. I would ask immediate replacement and financial reimbursement for all than annoying trouble.

I'm a teacher at a primary school and my laptop was not bought for fun. The 17' screen I paid was to use it in classroom. Now not only sound and DVDs don't work, but in a while the crack on the back appeared on the back while make it totally useless. I wonder who designed a machine that cannot afford the weight/pressure of its own screen. Who picked the materials? Must have been the cheapest ones.

ACER Sold me Faulty Computer

CANADA -- I bought a computer in August of 2006 and received a green dot on the computer - I later found out it was a dead pixel. They refuse to fix it unless I have 5 green dots on my computer screen. So I get the joys of looking at a really annoying little green dot on my computer screen. Also my sound driver disappeared on my computer and the back up cd - didn't support it so I had to take it back in.

They fixed this problem BUT I want the general public to know that ACER is absolutely the worst computer I have ever had - my MDG computer works a hell of a lot better than this piece of crap! I wouldn't buy an Acer unless you want a pile of crap! They makes things in mass production - do not care about their product and just try to steal people's money! ACER Corporation I think you are despicable!
