I made the mistake of choosing Advantage Car Rental. They do everything possible to avoid giving you a receipt when your rental is complete, and their website is deliberately deceptive. They are dishonest and make it difficult to find out the most basic information about your rental. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 05/05/2013Add reply
Advantage was listed substantially lower in price that all other car rental companies when I did a search on Travelocity and a few other sites. I was skeptical since the price was around 40% cheaper and thought there must be a catch. I took a chance and went with Advantage, thinking that I would probably get an older vehicle, poor service, or hidden charges. Surprisingly, there were no surprises. The shuttle came quickly. When we reached the pick-up location, the lines were quite long, but understandable with the low prices. When I got the car, I was pleasantly surprised to get a relatively new (less than 4500 miles) well-equipped Chevy Malibu with XM satellite radio. When I returned the vehicle, I was charged exactly what I was quoted (I had declined all options).

No surprises, pleasant service, a nice new vehicle. Will definitely rent from them again.
1030 W MANCHESTER BLVD, INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA -- There's a reason this company is the cheapest. Rented a car for three days at LAX over the weekend. Despite the car being reserved several days in advance, the car was not ready. Like many others here, it took an hour to get our car and the shuttle took a VERY long time to pick us up from LAX. The car was FILTHY and had to be returned TWICE just to clean the windows. After the first time out, I noticed a "clicking" sound from one of the tires and was told it was probably a rock. It was too dark to see so we continued to our hotel. The next morning we awoke to find the left rear tire flat with a large screw in it (the source of the mysterious clicking). I tried caling their road service and waited for 30 minutes in the queue with no answer. I called the office and was told that the flat tire was MY problem! In the end I had to have the rental car towed to a tire shop and have the tire plugged at MY EXPENSE! No offer of restitution was made by Advantage. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!

The worst in customer service and a real bate and switch. They are also Hertz so you will get no solution to the problem every number to solve the problem leads you back to the office you rented from.

Hertz and Advantage don't care about you and your well being
The office I rented from was the Advantage in the Hilton airport hotel in west palm beach you get there and you are stuck to rent from them so they have no office space at the airport so you wait for some one to pick you up
Don't deal with Cheapo.com either
I love Advantage Rental Car!!
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- I made a reservation online for car rental for the best price of $181 for 10 days for an economy car. I copied what I thought was the most pertinent information and printed it out, when I should have ... read full review2 Replies - Latest reply on 06/04/2013
The folks @ Advantage in Houstons Bush airport are great. Rented a car from them and they were friendly from the start. Had to extend the rental due to a family emergency and they made the transaction such a positive experience. Not only friendly and efficient but caring as well as to what we were going through. Great team! Add reply
On December 26, 2008, I landed on Maui Island, holding a print out of my car reservation with Advantage, which I had booked on Hawaiian Airline website a few weeks before. But Advantage booth was closed and there is only a Customer Support phone number written on the window. No one answered my call and the next door Car Rental company, Enterprise, offered $250 a day. As it was the only one still having cars available, I had no choice but swallow the rip-off. I thought this kind of things only happen in countries like China.

WHAT A IRRESPONSIBLE COMPANY ADVANTAGE IS! WHAT A RIP-OFF ENTERPRISE-MAUI IS!
I want to go after this ordeal. Any suggestions?
After posting the review below, I did hear back from Advantage. They credited me for the extra day and for the gas charges! So I feel much better about them, hopefully they will do a little extra customer ... read full review1 Replies - Latest reply on 11/08/2008
DENVER, COLORADO -- Never rent from this company. They use deceptive marketing and selling practices, and will charge you for everything extra that they can, even when you have explicitly said you don't want the various little add-ons they attempt to push on you to increase the fee. Their cars are cheap and poorly maintained as well. So, while they might seem to have cheaper prices, in the end you'll end up paying more, get horrible customer service, and be stuck with a well-used car.
Better to go with Hertz and Avis and pay a bit more for something reliable, and a company that does not cheat you.
ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO -- On a recent trip to New Mexico, Utah and Colorado I rented from Advantage, because of the slight savings it offered compared with the major, national rental companies. The wait at the Albuquerque counter was almost an hour, for that one agent on duty (There were about a dozen people behind me waiting too). I had significant mechanical problems with my car several hundred miles from any of Advantage's offices. Neither the original rental office in Albuquerque nor the national help line offered much assistance. It was as if they had never dealt with a problem such as mine before. I spent almost an entire day trying to resolve my difficulty.
This was an unusual circumstance with an almost new rental car. Still, WHEN YOU RENT FROM ADVANTAGE YOU DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. This company is totally unprepared for rental problems of any sort and has TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I plan to stick to the major, national rental companies in the future.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- Do not use Advangage, Fox, or Ace rental car - you will be sorry! They will double or triple bill you if you do not pick up and return your car within 29 MINUTES of your "estimated time" when you make your online reservation. They DO NOT warn you of this... they want to steal your money. And if you try to complain, they give you the run around and rude service. They even gave me a fake number to call from home (she wrote it down and I got an apartment complex when I called)! After much follow up (which most people wouldn't do - and they know this) I got part of my stolen money refunded. But, I will NEVER use them again, and I've made sure that all my friends and family know not to also!Add reply
DENVER, COLORADO -- I used Advantage car rental for the first and last time at Denver airport. I waited inline for 40 minutes to get to the counter. I had to sign 3 different receipts and initial 9 different places on the three receipts. I was frustrated at the wait time and allowed myself to be talked into the pre-pay for gas that was going to save me money. I was only in Denver two days and basically drove from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport. I brought the car back over ¾ full. Thanks for looking out for me Advantage. My $118.00 online conformation estimate ended up costing $253.86.

Come on guys… you rent cars, that’s all you do, and you suck at it!
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- We booked a car through the Advantage web site and paid extra to reserve a Dodge Charger. Guess what? They don't have a Charger when you come to claim it. Instead you can get a Toyota Camry... Yeah, that is almost just as much fun to drive...Not!

If you have seen the Hertz commercials, where they make fun of the competition, this is the company they're making fun off! Steer clear of these liars!
Oh, and watch out! While you're fuming over the bait and switch, they will stick on an extra $300 insurance you don't need.
