Impersonating, SCAM !
Posted by on
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- BUYER BEWARE!!! SCAM!!!
My brother and I wanted to purchase a few master embellished giclees by Leonid Afremov. After watching Afremov’s video, I called 1-866-889-3208 which was the number provided by www.afremov.com, and wanted to verify that Leonid Afremov was in fact the person painting on these master embellished giclees. I asked to speak with Leonid and it was his son David on the phone impersonating him! I was able to tell from the video on Leonid Afremov because Leonid speaks in the video. This immediately grabbed my attention and I continued to ask for Leonid. He put me on hold and his brother Boris Afremov picked up also impersonating Leonid Afremov. I insisted I speak to Leonid and was then transferred back to David who admitted they both had impersonated Leonid! This is fraudulent representation! This whole thing is extremely suspicious. I called several times and each time there was an excuse as to why I am not able to speak to the artist himself (on vacation, technical difficulties, too busy…etc.) So who is the person painting on the “master embellished” giclees? Where is Leonid Afremov? Why is he being impersonated? SCAM!!!

I'm Boris Afremov the youngest son of the artist. I have to write this here so everyone can see the real deal. My father is pretty busy person. he doesn't want to talk to customers or have customers distract him from work. I answer emails for him but my father tells me what to write to each email.

Sorry, Boris, but it looks really shady to impersonate someone. I don't care how busy someone is, if he has a representative speaking for him, it would look much better for that representative to be up front.

You're not helping your dad's business here.

Why didn't you just say that in the first place when The Mayor called Boris? momsey is right, not helping the business.

I have visited many of these scam info sites and it is always the same thing.. DO NOT believe any of the negative comments unless you have experienced them yourself... I have dealt with Afremov.com several times and have had no problem. BTW Afremov.com has a disclaimer that they do not sell Giclees on their website. I have received original oils from them in a timely manner and as described by them.. I do NOT understand why this person would not accept speaking to a representative rather than the painter. I do not understand what the issue is.. nor do I think this is a proper forum for the issue to be resolved. Boris I think you should just ignore these people and go about your business...

You don't think it is an issue to speak with a "representatitive" who is impersonating the person you wish to speak with, in this case the artist?

I guess everyone is different. Why is this site not a proper forum to discuss consumer issues?

The notion that nobody should pay attention to a negative review is absolutely ridiculous. That is the power of the internet. I have jumped on and posted complaints when I didn't receive satisfaction with a company. Are there abuses? Sure. That doesn't mean you ignore all negative complaints. You read them and decide if they sound legitimate!
