Airfare.com scam
Posted by on
BETHESDA, MARYLAND -- I purchased 3 tickets from this vendor for travel from Indianpolis, IN, USA to Mumbai, India on Jan 1st 2011. The purchase was made from the "airfare.com" website. I searched and picked the travel itinerary of my choice and purchased the ticket. Prior to clicking the final button, I made sure the date/time for the travel were correct. After the purchase, I noticed that one of the flight times was chnaged in the itinerary. I immediately called back the customer service for "airfare.com" at 703-379-1777 to get this resolved. For 5 times the service agents would put me on hold and then disconnect. On the sixth time, they picked up the call but refused to help. I feel cheated since I cannot get a refund or my itinerary changed to timings that I picked.

This is another case of why one should not book flights through these third party vendors, rather they should book directly with the airline.

In Airfare.com terms and conditions they state

"Schedules and fares are subject to change without notice"

I have seen similar terms on Orbit and other travel sites.

I had a similar experience booking with airfare.com. I am not as upset about flight times being subject to change. It's the poor customer service they provide when I ask basic details or need to make updates to the fact that although entered correctly they submitted my name incorrectly to the actual airline and I haven't been able to fix.

airfare.com has to be the worst service.... I bought a ticket for 1300 via kayak... (The ticket on airline website was also 1300) They charged 400 for a change of one day which the airline was willing to forgo... very condescending customer service as well...
