IPSWICH, ALASKA -- This is a warning, for the sake of your pocket please do not use this company. They will try and find ways to charge you, they will take advantage of your good nature or inexperience when renting a car and they do not care.

I retired my vehicle with no additional damage 6 week later received a bill for £600 yes that's right £600! Of course all of us have that spare in our back pockets. Well your thinking he must have damaged the car, maybe an accident? Maybe he dented or scratched it? No, a mark on the inside of the boot that was already there that would disappear with polish and another that frankly you can't even see. £600
My company organized the rental so maybe they think they are fleecing the company for this money however it has been passed on to me so I am passing this knowledge in to you. Tell your friends. Do not rent from Alamo.
I left a white box in the car I rented. I've called Alamo at least 20 times and I've been given the run around. No one is willing to help me. I've been transferred to a VM to someone who is on vacation until the 22. I need my items.

Despite a reservation (made with a major credit card) they would not rent the car because the person that I rented the car for did not have a credit card (which is why I reserved the car and paid for it with my card). Unsatisfactory resolution. I will never rent from them again and would not recommend them to anyone. 3 Replies - Latest reply on 08/01/2013Add reply

Do not rent from Alamo they added insurance that I did not sign up for at the time of he rental. I have tried to work it out with them to no avail. The van was a piece of crap and broke down twice and would not start. Took them over three hours to fix it both times. I tried to get a different one and hey said they did not have another. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 02/18/2012Add reply

I reserved a car from Alamo/Enterprise on 11/26/11 at the Wichita (ICT) airport for a daily rate of $24.99. When I turned the car in, I was charged $54.99 per day, a total difference of $111. I pointed this discrepancy out to the agent and she agreed that it was a mistake. She told me that I had to pay the higher rate to close out the rental but provided me with copies of the receipt and reservation and gave me the phone number for the regional manager. I protested but paid the higher rate due to my pending flight. Upon my return home, I left a voicemail message with the regional manager and requested that she give me a call. I never received a call back. I emailed customer service and received a series of computer-generated responses. Finally, I turned in a dispute with my American Express card and included the documentation showing the reservation rate versus the billing rate. Alamo/Enterprise never responded to the inquiries made by American Express. The company subsequently blacklisted me and put me on their Do Not Rent list without ever responding to any of my inquiries. Alamo/Enterprise does not give a rip about its customers and is too big to care.
CANCUN, MEXICO -- I rented a car on 12/2/2011 on Alamo Playa del Carmen and returned it next day at Alamo Cancun Airport. Because of some problem with my credit card, I left a cash deposit of US$500 that should be returned to me after I return the car without any problem.

When I returned the car, the Alamo's employee didn't know anything about this deposit. After he called someone, he returned to me US$400 with the promise that the missing US$100 would be deposit in my bank account. I was very late to my flight and had no other option than accept that. I signed a receipt of US$400.
I email Alamo Cancun Airport supervisor, Mr. Jaime Díaz de Sandi, who says the employee had returned me all the money. I asked him to verify the receipt but I didn't receive an answer. I file a compaint at Procuradoria Federal del Consumidor of Mexico.
After this problem I've read many other complaints about them. Beware of these crooked and liars of Alamo Cancun Airport.
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA -- I had stopped using Alamo years ago, after being treated rudely by the same representative for the third time, but I forgot and responded to a special at a good price (booked on Travelocity.) I'm usually pretty good at fine print, but missed the fact that I was pre-paying with my credit card, not just holding a reservation. The counter representative informed me that my husband couldn't be a driver, since my name was on the credit card. I was so surprised that I forgot that he is an authorized user on my credit card, which might not have mattered anyway. First she said it would be $9 a day to include him as a driver, than lowered it to $5. I asked if Alamo still gave Delta Sky Miles with their rental agreement. She said yes, but I couldn't have it since I had prepaid. She wasn't especially friendly, but I don't blame her for being tired of explaining those policies to people every day. It has been years since I dealt with a car rental company that didn't automatically include the spouse as a driver. I wouldn't have objected to paying more for the rental, but highly object to the lack of "truth in advertising" in several areas. I don't like feeling grumpy and manipulated in the first ten minutes after reaching my destination. I will never ever rent from this company again. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 11/10/2011Add reply
DALLAS, TEXAS -- Left my iPhone in the car when returning and when I called they said they found it and will be shipped out the next day. I called again 3 days later to see if they shipped it out and they said that they still have it and have to go through lost and found process and MR. Johnson will take care of all the shipping and will answer my questions. Well it has been 5 day and I left "MR>JOHNSON" voice messages, emails and I am not getting any answer back. This is RIDICULOUS!!!!! I never heard of taking a week to even return the phone calls or email. Its 2011 and phones are an important part of our life. I wouldn't have cared if its my personal phone but its my business phone and I have no way to get through my day.. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ALAMO/NATIONAL RENTAL CAR COMPANY TO ANYONE.2 Replies - Latest reply on 11/04/2011Add reply
