My Super 6 Month Premium...
By -

DFW, TEXAS -- When me and my bro both needed auto insurance I contacted Allstate (first in the phone book). I didn't bother shopping around. I know better now. I paid over $3500.00 for a 6 mo. premium for two cars with two drivers. I had no clue what it "should" be, so I didn't realize how unreasonable the cost. I made the full payment in advance at that time. A month later I received a bill for around $600 which I assumed was just an itemized statement.

I later opened a letter stating their intention to cancel my coverage and another bill for $1000. I contacted Allstate & they explained that the $3500+ was just a deposit that was non-refundable and $600 would be the amount of the monthly payments. The whole time speaking to me as if I'm a complete moron because they were unable to communicate their backwards politics and unaccountable services. Since I hadn't made the first month's payment they canceled the insurance at the beginning of the second month, but I still had a balance due of $1000.

They kept insisting to know what insurance provider I pursued after they canceled me. They did not explain the remaining balance and would not refund my deposit. I don't understand their practices. I tried to pursue them legally and found that Texas already had a major lawsuit trying to get them out of the state all together! My name was added to a list and I got some paperwork to file my complaint along in the lawsuit and to the Better Business Bureau, but I've not heard anymore about it. They exhausted me to the point where I no longer needed jive excuses and as far as I know the lawsuit is still active. It won't likely settle any time soon.

Also, they keep making inquiries with the credit bureau. There's no way to stop them. If I had it to do over again I'd have taken advantage of the first month's full coverage and made sure I got my money's worth in damages. Lesson learned. Thanks for letting me share this and I hope it helps someone out there save any money and prevent some grief.

Allstate Insurance Screws Over Innocent People
By -

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- My car was hit by a person that has Allstate Auto Insurance. I was not even in the car. I did as was told and took my car to the Allstate Adjuster. I was told I would get a rental car to use while my car was being repaired. I dropped my car off at the body shop to start the repair. I was taken to Enterprise Car rental. They would not rent a car to me because I only carry liability on my vehicle.. it's a 1994 Nissan Sentra. Allstate would not cover the additional insurance required by Enterprise to rent the vehicle. I borrowed my mother's car. The car has been in the shop for 5 days & Allstate has first approved the work to be done.

It was held up because they quoted a ridiculously low price of $50.00 for a used fender that needed repair and didn't want to pay to have the used part delivered. I was warned in advance how terrible Allstate is to deal with on a claim. I called to be compensated for alternate transportation. They will only pay $10 per day and only based on their estimate.

Their estimate was only for 4 days and because they would not approve to get the work started the time to repair has taken longer. It is expected to take another 3 days to repair. Allstate refuses to compensate based on the actual time needed to repair the vehicle and will only pay based on their estimate. I am the victim here. I was not even in my vehicle when it was hit and I am the one suffering all of the inconveniences. Beware if you have to deal with Allstate Auto Insurance, they are EVIL!

GREAT Service, Never Leaving

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I had to file my first claim at the beginning of this month and I was terrified given some of the horror stories I had heard. A car that I owned was totaled, in another state, by a friend. The insurance company told me that they would send out an adjuster 3 days later. They gave me a 3 day window. On the very first day, the adjuster called me to tell me that they considered a total loss and that it would have to be handed off to another dept.

I was sure it was going to take forever. I received another phone call within the hour. To make a long story short, I received my final call by the end of that day informing me that my check for the payoff was in the mail. They didn't lowball me on the value of the car and even refunded tag and title fees for a new car. All of this was handled and done within less than 4 days total! I will NOT leave this company. To add to all of that, their accident forgiveness ensured that my insurance won't go up either! Can't beat that!

Allstae Rate Increases
By -

Been with Allstate since Nov 2006 - have home & Auto with them. Our ages are 55 & 60 (wife & Husband). No tickets, accidents or claims on home or car and excellent credit. In one year they raised homeowners by 19% and auto by 12.85% for a total increase of 31.85% for our insurance needs. Called our agent and was told it is what it is, the rates have increased across the board. We live in the Bowling Green area of Kentucky. Needless to say, Allstate can kiss my grits - I am getting quotes today to dump Allstate.

Allstate Owes Me Refund!!!!!!!
By -

HOLBROOK, ARIZONA -- I had transferred my auto title back in February of 2005. I called Allstate to inform them that I didn't have title to the vehicle anymore. I told them I was in the process of looking for another vehicle, and they told me that they really didn't want me to cancel my insurance because I was a very loyal customer for a long time. They told me that they could keep my insurance in force but lower it to the lowest rate (even without me having title to any kind of vehicle).

They said they were just doing me a favor because if I terminated my auto insurance and got another vehicle, they would have to start all over again, whereas, if I paid the premiums every month, it wouldn't raise my premiums if I got another vehicle. I told them okay, but they also told me if I didn't get another vehicle within 60 days that they would go ahead and cancel my policy.

Come to find out, they turned me over to a collection agency for not paying my premium for May 2006. I called them and told them that they should have never turned me over to collections because they are the ones who owe me money. I told them that their reps had told me that if I didn't pay the premium on time that they would cancel it anyway. But I don't owe them a penny. I had been paying them premiums since February 2005 through April 2006 on a vehicle I no longer had a title to. I don't even have a vehicle to this date. What a RIP-OFF!! They are the ones
who should be sent to collections!!!!

WHEELING, ILLINOIS -- I am a new All State Customer. I bought my new auto insurance policy on the 15th of May 2012 which is valid till 15th of Nov 2012. I am having issues with them from the day one. I spoke to person called ** at Allstate at 10.45pm on the 05/15/2012. She offered me a policy for $463.78 and I authorized her for one time payment for that amount, i.e., $463.78. Then the problem starts very next day. $571.44 were deducted from my account. I called Allstate to talk to them about the issue. I had to make couple of calls but nothing worked so I had to complain and called the manager.

He went through the conversation between me and ** the very first conversation and he apologize to me for their mistake and refund the overcharged money $107.66 on the 05/29/2012. The money not only over charged but also wrong information was involved. I was little satisfied by thinking of the fact that human makes mistakes but it was something else. They deleted all the voice conversation we have had and want me to pay them back those $107.66 back.

Spoke to the supervisor in charge of their inquiry department **. All she has to say is I have to pay the remaining balance for them to keep my policy validated. I am really upset. It's not only cheating but hurting somebody emotionally and also a criminal offense to withdraw money from someone's account without authorization. I am not willing to pay and this is just the starting. I am willing to take this further.

Agent Left Me With "No Agent" Apparently for 2 + Yrs - Platinum Package

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -- I didn't routinely check the space on my invoice where it gives Agent's name; suddenly one day discovered NO Agent listed - went back over 2 yrs worth of invoices and saw it was blank - I was flabbergasted! I called another Allstate agency - they informed me my agent no longer works in the business!! I was never notified - and I had been paying every month on a 'Platinum Package' - the most expensive insurance package Allstate offers. It is supposed to include an Agent!!! Also, no one has been overseeing my policy - I was screwed out of several 'good driver' checks that I was receiving 2x a year.

When I went to renew my registration at Motor Vehicle they pointed out that under the Description of my car - it states: Vehicle Unknown -- When I asked this new agent that I called about this handling of my account - he was glib and cavalier saying: "well, you've got one now!" Shouldn't I be getting a hefty rebate for paying on a policy that suddenly and without warning had no agent anymore? Is this legal for an insurance agency to do without any notice?

Why Pay Premiums if They Make You Pay Anyway!

HINESVILLE, GEORGIA -- I have had my insurance with Allstate for 12 years, without an accident, multiple cars, homeowners and renters insurance. My daughter gets into an accident and the car gets totaled. Might I add, I was not given a choice. They said there was no way to fix it. They allowed me to choose the collision center and said it would not matter. NOW, they are saying since I chose the collision center and they do not accept the charges, they are taking it out of my settlement for the car!

I was told they would cover these charges and now they do not want to pay. I am not sure what I have been paying premiums for if I have to pay for everything! They cheated me, and if this review changes your mind about Allstate. I want to call/email them and tell them that you changed your mind about them because of Claim # **. I want them to know they just did not lose one customer for what they have done.

Allstate You Are Not in Good Hands
By -

TEMPE, ARIZONA -- On 2/14/11, I was purchasing a new vehicle. I called several companies for quotes. Allstate quoted me approximately $80 per month and a lower policy for my homeowners, so I switched from State Farm that day. Today 17 days later, I am told they made a mistake in entering my information, and my car insurance would be $235 per month. I spoke to the agent's supervisor, their supervisor's supervisor, the regional director and nobody cared of course and nothing was done to fix the situation, so needless to say I went back to State Farm, who has never given me a problem. I also, have good credit, a clean driving record, and no previous claims.

Unpaid Claims and Customer Service

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO -- I was recently involved in an accident by a gentleman who was driving his girlfriend's car, after he admitted guilt we exchanged information and I felt confident that all would be handled quickly and professionally, after contacting their Allstate agent, well that's when everything went to HELL.

They had initially agreed to repair the damages on my car $3000.00 and then out of the blue the agent informed me that the insured (the gentlemen's girlfriend) decided that she was not at fault. Ironic considering she wasn't even at the scene of the accident. Needless to say my insurance had to pick up the damages and we are now having to sue Allstate for the damages to my vehicle, I have never been treated so badly by any insurance company and it's amazing to me how a company of this stature could be so conniving and flat out LIE to me. I also wonder why a highly respected movie star would be representing such a fraudulent company.
