AMSTERDAM, NEW YORK -- On July 25th my wife and I purchased a beautiful Grand Design, Reflection travel trailer from Alpin Haus in Amsterdam NY. We love the travel trailer but buyer beware when you do business with this outfit. Our finance manager was quick to sell us a lifetime warranty which cost us $3644.00. At no time while in his office did he bother to mention that unless we took the trailer to an authorized dealer annually for a several hundred dollar check up that the lifetime warranty would be void.
I just received a letter from Warranty Forever that all the components listed on page six of the agreement booklet would be covered. What booklet? We never received one. Our finance manager was a fast-talking crook. Please read this before you go and buy from these people.
AMSTERDAM, NEW YORK -- Alpin Haus, located on route 4850 State highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Installed a 18x36 pool liner, which is short, and they also did not fastened liner to the last of 3 steps in the pool. The liner moves away from unfasten step and pool wall, thus causing ruffles on pool floor. Alpin Haus, got paid and no longer care to correct there wrong doing.
When I called, I was told that they will remove ruffles for $800.00. Ruffles should have never been there to star with, if liner was fitted correctly. For 10 years ruffles were never there on original liner prior to theirs. Their new liner installation was wrongly done. Upon my complaining I am now being told that it is because of high water level under pool liner. I have no high water level, in fact my well had to be dugged 280 feet deep to get water for the house.
Their bad workmanship, caused 3 screws installed by them to penetrate the liner and make holes on it by the steps. Over by the first return a screw sits under the liner, which will eventually make a hole also. My review of this company is that they are not a responsible company, that they take the cash and run. They care not of Quality service, or Customer care.
HERE IS THE OUTCOME OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE MY COMPLAINT ABOVE. I trusted the BBB to resolve the issue. The BBB set up an appointment for me to go meet in Albany NY for arbitration. Alpin Haus got there before me, for they were given the right address as to where to go. I was given the wrong address and I got there late after I was abale to contact the BBB at Buffalo NY. Many photos, and a 5-page detail of the liner condition and damages and many other documents showing water level and alike was presented to the abitrator.
Alpin Haus presented nothing more than a verbal statement of the cause of my liner problem is due to high water table. Perhaps other ethical and or unethical issues went on between arbitrator and Alpin Haus I not know. But what I do know is that I lost a case that I should not have lost with all the evidance that I showed, and what also bothers me, was that of being sent to the wrong address by the BBB, but yet the right address was given to Alpin Haus. To end my story, people have no 100% trust on the BBB, bring a lawyer with you if you to go to an Better Business Bureau arbitration hearing.
