KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE -- I put a couch and love seat on layaway. Simple enough, right? The day I go to pay it off it suddenly it isn't in stock. Which was fine, I understood. They told me it would take 7-10 business days for it to arrive. Well, almost a month later it still hasn't arrived and what is WORSE is that every time I ask for a date, they can't give me one. I even spoke to the CORPORATE office, and they, themselves, did NOT know their own shipment dates. Not for now, not for a month, not for two months.
They just had no idea when it was going to ship. So I could be waiting on this stuff forever, no end in sight. And it is ALREADY paid off. I paid for something I am not even getting to use right now. All I keep getting is "it will probably be here soon". How reassuring. NEVER BUYING FROM HERE AGAIN. IT IS A HUGE SCAM.
OCALA, FLORIDA -- I do wish we would have read the reviews before purchasing our furniture and American Freight. The store manager was so pleasant when he was selling us our mattresses, couch and loveseat. That is where it ended. After owning our couch and loveseat for two weeks, it started to get splotchy in color. Well we called and were told that we would have to bring it in. HOW? We have a small van!! Three months later our couch and loveseat have turned into what looks like 10 year old furniture. The material has big blotches on it which looks like.... I really don't know what it looks like!! It is unbelievable.
We have no children, we have never sat in the loveseat... It is just changing in color (big spots) right before our eyes. Never will I recommend or will I purchase anything else from American Freight. We paid $1,500 cash for the loveseat and couch... we need a representative to come and look at the mess we have. It would cost us $250.00 to hire someone to come and transport our furniture back to American Freight. It just isn't fair.
MORAINE, OHIO -- My husband, my children and I went to AF on 2/13/15. We were there to purchase a mattress. The salesman said that the mattresses had to be sold as a set with the box spring. My husband and I asked him why the ad said per piece. He said well that's advertising. He then went on to say in the ad it states all sets sold together. My husband and I decided to leave because the salesman was more focused on proving us wrong than selling us something. He was already being a little rude. As we were leaving he came running up to us saying "look, look it says it right here."
My husband and I explained to the man we did not see that, also it does still say per piece!!! And the way the ad looks it looks like sets sold together are for beauty rest mattresses only. Either way we walked out of the store because of the man's demeanor. He chased us out yelling how am I rude... "do you want to talk to my manager? He will tell you the same thing..." Moral of the story, I went over to Kings Furniture and ended up buying a mattress, boxspring bed frame head board, and 2 dressers and 2 night stands... in cash!!!!!!!!!!!
MADISON, WISCONSIN -- I purchased a sofa and loveseat set and after a year the sofa broke. I also purchased the 10 year fabric warranty on both pieces. I called to see what they could do, was told I had a five year warranty and just send in pictures of the couch. I waited, sent emails and never heard back. Called them and told them my claim was denied. So I have a broken couch with a ten year stain warranty that is junk. Another manager tells me I don't have a 5 year warranty, only a one year but I could possibly have a 5 year on the frame. So send in more pictures of the frame, again the claim is denied. You get what you pay for, it's cheap furniture that doesn't last! Their customer service is horrible!
MADISON, WISCONSIN -- Do not buy from American Freight stores. Do not buy Simmons here!!! Nothing but trouble since we got our couch. First, the arm fell apart within 3 months, totally collapsed!!! Called store and they told us we had to remove the dust cover and take photos and send them to the store. Called within 6 months, same ridiculous request! Called and talked to store manager and she was very immature, giggled about everything!!! Not business-minded at all. Then called regional manager and after 2 weeks of talking with him when he said he would take care of it and we would get our sofa exchanged, he called and said he could not do anything.
Plus... when we bought the sofa, we were told we had to buy the extra warranty otherwise nothing would be covered!!! Well, we told them that and they did nothing and said that warranty only covered stains! I would give them 0 stars if this allowed!!! Now we are left with a broken couch that cost $600, warranty and all and on top of that we have had it just over a year now and the upholstery is starting to wear and we cover the couch. Don"t buy Simmons!!! According to American Freight, Simmons is the one who decided not to honor our warranty or replace couch.
American Freight = really bad customer service and they con you into buying worthless warranties. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!!! You cannot get quality furniture or service at American Freight!!!!
ANTIOCH, TENNESSEE -- I should have paid more attention to all the signs that told me not to buy from this place but I did and that is why I'm now taking the time to write this so please people don't make the same mistake I did. This place has the worse staff you can hire to run a furniture store with decent furniture. And it all comes down to is that after making your purchases and you are sent back to pick it up, they switch the stuff you purchased for damage ones or used ones and you will not realize this until you get it home. But then you will have no choice because everything they sell is sold as is which is basically a way for them to secure the sale.
And if you tried to make a complaint then you will see how they really are and treat you like crap because they know you have no choice but to keep the stuff you bought, but I'm also sure the employees are doing some sort of scam because they like cash. Every time I mention that I was paying cash their eyes light up and that's I felt a bad impression from them. So I'm sure that is the trick is to sell you something and give you someone else's returned merchandise and pocket the money. My advice is for you to spend your money with a well known furniture company even if you spend a little extra but then you will get what you pay for...
CHARLESTON, WEST VIRGINIA -- Went in to buy a bed from this location. The sales guy said the size bed I wanted would be in in a couple days. Two days later I called and they informed me it would be in on a certain date. The date came and I called they said yes it will be here around noon on truck. We all know where this is going.... The bed was not there when I went to pick it up, and was informed again it would be 7-10 days more. The communication between the store and warehouse needs to improve. I will not buy anything here with the fear of them saying it will be in on..... Bad customer service American Freight!!!
8920 CORPORATION DR, INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -- I recently purchased a sectional from American freight and yet to get a phone call to tell me my couch is ready to be picked up. I was told that my sectional will be ready for pick up in two to three weeks and states that on my receipt. So when my three weeks was up I called and they gave me the runaround. Eric the store manager I talked to him yesterday and he's like "somehow your sectional got put on backorder." I'm like "I have a family event Thursday so are we supposed to sit on the floor."
He got smart with me and says "You being on the phone is not helping me at all. If you get off the phone I can make some phone calls to make things happen." I told him "I gave you a month to make things happen." So I was supposed to get a phone call last night stating the status of my couch and never received it. To me that receipt saying two to three weeks is a contract.
Even though it says no refunds you broke a contract, a written statement and I believe I should be able to get my money back even if it was a day late. I am still waiting a month and some days later on a sectional. I advise people to stay far away from that place. They are unprofessional and do not put their customers first. I hope they go out of business because that is crazy.
CINCINNATI -- Two and a half years ago we purchased a sofa and love seat from American Freight for the exorbitant sum of nearly $700. We were told it should easily last for 10 years or more. Hughes Furniture was the manufacturer. In two years time the springs were falling out of the bottom of the couch and wooden slats were poking out the back. After calling American Freight I was informed that Hughes only offers a 1-year warranty on their furniture so basically I was out of luck. I can't imagine how they get away with selling furniture that is such poor quality! We're practically sitting on the floor and now have no money to replace something that we were told would last decades.
I don't know how American Freight stays in business by buying cheap furniture with virtually NO warranties and then reselling it at outrageous prices!
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -- Over a year ago during the process of us building a house we put furniture on layaway. Never thought that I was going to deal with this mess. After paying off my furniture we set up a delivery date for everything to be delivered. On the day of delivery I just happen to call to make sure everything was a go and come to find out that they never put the correct address on the sheet for the delivery guy. Thank goodness my husband was home he had to help them bring everything in because there was only one guy. Why you would do delivery with one guy is beyond me. We paid $70 for the delivery should have been less since we moved everything in the house.
Once everything was in and set up we were pretty pleased. We purchased a sofa and love seat, bed, and a dining room table. After about a month I noticed the dining room table begging to peel on top. Notified the company, said there was nothing they could do. Call back again and started to deal with ** he seemed to be OK. He said would call me back after he call the manufacturer to see what could be done. Weeks went by no phone call. Called back he explains that I need to get the same furniture that I had needed to do an even exchange. Told him there is no way that I am going to have the same furniture, I want something different.
He agrees to exchange for something else. Go in and pick something else out. Meantime I am noticing the sign that says all returns are done by company check. When I asked about this he tells me that they do not do returns. I start to figure this is on big mess. We pick out what we want ** tells us that he will call in a couple days to set up delivery. A week and half later still no call. Call speak with one of the guys there, they have no clue what I am speaking about, ** is off and someone will call me back the next day.
Finally get the delivery set up, today they are supposed to be here between 12-4. Just felt like something was not correct. So I called to see what was going on and no one had no idea about the delivery. ** never scheduled it. Figure that, so they have to call ** to find out what is going on. Now delivery is between 3-6 and I have to pay another $50 for delivery to get new stuff and for them to take what I have. This company is the worse that I have ever dealt with, ** just agrees with you and never does what he says. I would watch out for this place. Cheap furniture but an expensive price.. That same day delivery does not apply with this company...
