PORTAGE, MICHIGAN -- Horrible service, had a problem with my purchase and dealt with Sarah (the manager) she was useless! I would not recommend doing business here!!!

Bad Customer Services

HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA -- I bought a bedroom set for my daughter on 01-12-13.I was told max 2 weeks for delivery and they will call us when order in store. It's been 3 weeks now, no call yet. When I called the store they told me that they don't know when the truck will arrive. They are guessing and they can't even track the order. It's 50/50 chance

MICHIGAN -- I repeat ... the most annoying TV commercials - get rid of telemarketer - these annoying commercials would never encourage me to buy anything from American Freight...!

I agree with the OP. Any commercial that has the announcer literally screaming throughout isn't worth my time. About the only positive thing about them is that it's helped reduce my timing trying to grab the remote to hit the mute button.

I do the exact same thing with my remote. Try to hit mute before that annoying announcer, (Eli Zaret), Whom I've never liked anyway. I hate the voice.. http://www.elizaretstudio.com/about-us.html has a chance to say, "Over a Thousand Truckloads". I've noticed the annoying commercials usually run every other Friday. I thought there were laws preventing advertisers from flat out lies? Over a Thousand truckloads every other week of unclaimed freight??? Yeah right!!!!

I really needed some new furniture and spent over 3 grand just on my mattress. I find their ads are so annoying that even if the same stuff was half the price I would rather sleep on the floor and buy nothing from them. The chronically constipated spokesman screaming is a huge backfire. Am freight your ad sucks

Delivered damaged, don't return calls

MARIETTA, GEORGIA -- On March 12, 2010, I purchased a Sofa and Love seat at the store located at 1075 Cobb Parkway South, Marietta, GA. The delivery was for 2pm that same day. When the delivery people brought the sofa in, I told them it was not the set I ordered, they insisted it was. After completely setting up the sofa/love seat set, they went to leave, but came back 5 minutes later to tell me they delivered the wrong set. No Kidding! They then brought in the correct sofa/love seat I ordered and set it up. At first sight it looked fine. Within 5 minutes after they left I found a tear in the arm of the sofa that could only have been made while coming in the front door of my apartment...it even had the white paint on it. I called the store immediately and told them I wanted the sofa replaced or a refund immediately. They told me it would take them 30 days to get a replacement sofa and deliver it to me. I agreed. It is now May 6, 2010, and I have called them 3 more times. No one will return my calls, and I still have paid full price for a damaged sofa. I wish I would have checked for reviews on the bad business practices of this company!!!!

Horrible Service

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA -- I have recently just moved into my own apartment and I heard about American Freight having good prices for new furniture. So I went and picked out a couch paid $550 cash and was told it would be in either Friday or Monday (I ordered on a Thursday) Well I called in on Monday after not hearing from them and they said another 2 or 3 weeks. This really pissed me off. They went on to tell me that they always round the shipping time up so it could be less... Not listening to the smarter part of me I continued looking and found a good deal on a bedroom set and mattress..and found a couch to trade that was in stock. We got it ordered and they told us they will hold the furniture for us and we can pick it up the following Monday. We show up on Monday and turns out they sold the mattress that we picked out and had no more in stock. So we just picked up the couch and head board and dresser and decided to wait till that Thursday to pick up the mattress... When they gave us the sectional, they gave us two of the same pieces. I was furious after everything we've been through!!! I called when I got home and realized and they said that we have to drive the 60 miles back to the store to pick up the right piece or we have to pay 80 for shipping. This was their mistake and we had to pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is THEE WORST COMPANY to go through for furniture, they lie and do NOT care about their customers. I would NOT recommend them to anyone!!!

Where is my Futon?

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY -- I put a Futon in lay-a way at American Freight in Lexington, Ky., and when I went and paid it out, they told me they had to order it and it would take a month. When I put it in lay-a-way, it was supposed to be there. I don't know if they sold it or if they didn't order it or what. I have called several times and just keep getting the shaft. I called yesterday and they hung up on me three times. One of the guys there called my house the other night and wanted to know how I liked my futon, which I Don't have. That makes me think they have sold mine. All I hear when I call is it will be on the truck next delivery!!!!

I want my Futon or my money back!!! It has been seven weeks since I paid it out of Lay-a-way!!

What do I do???????

Go back to the store and ask for the manager. Take every bit of paperwork they gave you. Be calm and demand a full refund of the amount you've already paid.

I called again today and they promised me that it should come in Monday, if not I should get my money back. What worries me about that is I checked on line about them and sometimes you have to wait on them to have a check sent to you. I can't find out where their Home office is or I would call them. Is there a way that I can get them to give me the money back at the store. I'm sure they would probably have it.!!!!I also think after this long, if it should come in that they should deliver it to me free, but I don't think they will!!!! Thanks for the advice as I will definitely use it!!!!!!

Most furniture stores don't physically hold the layaway merchandise. You're holding the price or deal you got. If you look at your receipt it most likely says 'merchandise not physically held' on layaways. It's the sales persons fault for not explaining this to you. Hope this helps...

Sagging Mattress

NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA -- Bought a mattress set, within weeks mattress was sagging. Was replaced, new mattress sagged within weeks. Tried to work with credit card company, they were not much help as long as AF was willing to replace mattress. Decided to contact BBB, they contacted AF, who replaced mattress yet again. A week later it was sagging. Worked with BBB to get a full refund! Wanted to share this info in hopes of helping others. If you contact BBB, make sure you mention that AF's corporate office is in Ohio.

Uninsured Delivery Drivers

N. TONAWANDA, NEW YORK -- I had furniture delivered over 2000.00 and as they were delivering they scratched my new hardwood floors pretty bad. Called American Freight they said they sub out there deliveries. The delivery manager told us the guys rent truck from him. Long story short they do not carry insurance to cover repairs. All my furniture was loaded back up and I am left with a wrecked hardwood floor.

If a driver was to get hurt on your property YOU are liable because they are uninsured. American Freight was totally useless in helping me.

Sounds to me they are liable for hiring uninsured drivers. I would sue them in small claims.

MARIETTA, GEORGIA -- I went in to American Freight of Cobb Parkway in a hurry, and found a couch I liked, first they told me I had to buy it in a set with the love seat, but then I showed them the printed add, which showed that the couch could be sold independently.
When purchasing the couch I expressed my concerns with having a defective couches prior, and for them to make sure that the couch delivered wouldn't have any problems with it, nor would it have a tears in the dust cover, sure enough when I received it, it had a the tear in the dust cover in it.
Since the delivery company is separate from the store, they left the couch at my place. Now a month and a 1/2 later, I was promised a replacement, and received nothing, asked them to take the couch and give me store credit, but they told me it was against their policy because the couch is at my house!

Now I wish that I would have read all of the reviews prior to purchasing the furniture from them. Would have saved myself a headache.

Worst Customer Service EVER!!!

LEXINGTON, OHIO -- My husband & I went shopping on "black Friday" & decided to stop in at the Lexington Ohio American Freight store to price out a mattress & box spring & couch. We found what we were looking for so we ordered the couch since they would not sell us the display model & was told 3-4weeks for the couch. Asked if we could put mattress set in layaway till week of Christmas since it was a gift for our son & was told certainly! So we go ahead & pay for our merchandise in full & go on our way. 3 wks later we call to check status on couch & was told closer to 1st week of Jan. - well OK then so we go up to pick my sons mattress & box spring up & purchase fram & headboard as well...was told they no longer had that bed set in stock & would have to "upgrade" us to the next set-we said sure for the same price since THEY screwed up & oh no-they would not do that & at the same time we were told our sofa that was supposed to be only 3-4wks till in became 7-8weeks!! With all this I was soooo mad I cancelled the whole damn order & REFUSE to ever shop or say anything good about American Freight! Lost out on a very good sale because they wouldn't make things right & wanted us to spend even more $$ then we had already!! Off to our local furniture store for REAL customer service!!
