INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA -- I'm shocked to see all of these negative reviews! I have been to American Freight a couple of times with friends and family and they always received a helpful associate to guide them around. I recently bought a house and needed a mattress for a guest bedroom. I went there and a gentleman immediately came to help me. I picked out a mattress set and he told me they were actually out of stock but he would give me an upgraded one for the price of the cheaper one I wanted. Then I went home and it was delivered two hours later!!!! I was shocked. This was such an awesome experience for me personally. I will admit their products are not top of the line, but they are worthwhile.
PENN HILLS, PENNSYLVANIA -- We went the store, picked out a sofa and purchased it in full yesterday. We decided to rent a U-Haul and pick up the sofa the next day to save $30 from the delivery cost. The day we purchased the sofa we asked if it was possible to purchase the floor model for a small discount. The salesperson said they can't sell it until the inventory in the back was sold and that they have one wrapped in plastic brand new for us. Today when we get there to pick up the sofa they told us the computer inventory was wrong and they sold the floor model after we left. The manager, **, also said that the sofa was discontinued.
He then told us that he would refund the money for the sofa and there's nothing to be done about the $50 for renting the U-Haul. There was not sympathy or effort to rectify the situation. In my experiences, when someone purchases something in full, the store has the responsibility to mark it as sold. It's pretty much a contract. This situation was unfair and I hope that it doesn't happen to anyone else. I will continue to inform people about how we were treated at this Penn Hills American Freight by ** the manager and his sales team.
BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA -- I had put a bedroom set on lay-away prior to reading the reviews. And as stated in other reviews you cannot get your lay-away back. Once I read the reviews I was a little cautious, but mostly "stuck" with American Freight. I did mention to the manager that I was aware of the reviews and that I would be willing to write a review if they made it good for me. They delivered.
I was incredibly surprised with the customer service. I dealt mostly with a gentleman named ** at the Burnsville, MN location. He was as helpful as he was friendly (and easy on the eyes). The day after I completed my purchase my items were delivered at the time given. All the pieces were there and everything was just as I expected. I am very happy with my bedroom set and would definitely do business with American Freight in the future! Thank you!
CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Oh how I wish I would have read these reviews before buying from this company! While my first impression was a good one... I liked the non-pressure approach of the warehouse... The delivery has been a nightmare. We bought a sofa/love seat and bed frame and were told it would be delivered next day (Sun). After a phone call at 11 am I had hopes we'd receive the furniture in the afternoon. They finally arrived at 8 pm and were missing the frame! They asked for a window that it could be delivered the next day and I gave them 3 hours. They called and said it would be there but hours later still no truck.
I called and told them I had to leave and they promised that it would be delivered today... After reading the reviews, I don't have super high hopes! Help!
STUART, FLORIDA -- I purchased two Simmons recliners and a couch/love seat at the Stuart store. I bought the items BEFORE reading any reviews. I was startled at the multiple negative experiences many had. Many consumers had trouble getting refunds or canceling orders before the delivery. I went to the store to cancel the couch/love seat to see if there is going to be an argument. There was no problem at all. I was relieved. The staff of ** were very professional. I kept the order for the two recliners and they were delivered as promised by two very efficient personnel.
I would recommend the Stuart store and buy more items from them. There could be concerns at some of the other stores but not at the Stuart facility.
NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA -- Bought a mattress set, within weeks mattress was sagging. Was replaced, new mattress sagged within weeks. Tried to work with credit card company, they were not much help as long as AF was willing to replace mattress. Decided to contact BBB, they contacted AF, who replaced mattress yet again. A week later it was sagging. Worked with BBB to get a full refund! Wanted to share this info in hopes of helping others. If you contact BBB, make sure you mention that AF's corporate office is in Ohio.
HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA -- I bought a bedroom set for my daughter on 01-12-13. I was told max 2 weeks for delivery and they will call us when order in store. It's been 3 weeks now, no call yet. When I called the store they told me that they don't know when the truck will arrive. They are guessing and they can't even track the order. It's 50/50 chance.
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- We selected some merchandise on May 18, 2011 from the W. Broad St. location. We explained that we would not need delivery until the end of June, but we could pay for the merchandise that day. We were told that 1 of the living room sets would arrive at the store in about 2 weeks and the other set was at the Hilliard location. I then decided to not pay the entire balance just in case the merchandise didn't arrive in time. We have dealt with other furniture stores in the past and this process is very common as long as the merchandise is paid in full before delivery. May 31, 2011 we went back into the store and had decided to cancel the order. We were told it had been 13 days and no refunds are issued after 10 days....store credit only. We talked to 2 people at the corporate office and still no refund. Stay away from this company!
