Has anyone out there had insurance problems with Americredit? I have. I had more insurance than CA law requires the whole time I was making payments and now a year and a half after the car was paid off they are calling and threatening to garnish my wages if I don't pay supplemental insurance because I " didn't have enough" coverage. they want me to pay them an additional $1600 but will settle for $800. what a bunch of crooks!!!!

If its paid off they need to send you the title. If you weren't paying enough insurance before it was paid off they CERTAINLY would have told you then.

Western Union

My question is this No one is trying to get out of the payment things happen people get behind. How do they get away with only accepting Western Union payments . If you are behind the chance that you have extra money is minimal. its not fair that they demand this ..You can't make the payment and they want more money. Some of there agents are actually human, some are not. The calling constantly and contacting others is ridiculous

WTF???
grandma005 on 09/23/2009:
They are saying that the Company only accepts payments from Western Union. No checks or online payments. Western Union charges a high fee to send payments. If he does not have the money for a payment then how can he afford to pay extra to send payments to Western Union. I think that this is what he is trying to say.

I have Americredit for my car payments. If you make payments online, they send it by Western Union and you have to pay an extra $5 bucks on top of what you owe that month for the loan.
If you don't want to do it that way, Ripped Off, you can always send your payment by mail. They send your payment coupon in the mail as well. That way, you can save $5 bucks. Just make sure you send it a week before its due to make sure they get the payment in time.

Thanks grandma for the clarification. I appreciate it.

I know what you mean. I always paid Americredit online for my auto loan. One day I get a letter stating that payments would now be through Western Union and an additional charge of $5 would be added to each payment. Their online payment feature used to be free, but I guess they figured out how to make more money from their customers. I still pay online because I don't want them to ever say my payment was lost in the mail. Who knows what they'd to your account if that happened.

MICHIGAN -- Hi.

I would like to say that I've had a great experience with Americredit. I've had to make several payments late (with interest of course) but they couldn't have been nicer to me. My interest is high 16% but when you have credit issues you have no one to blame but yourself.

Thankfully my last payment is Dec 2008.

Horrible Customer Service

KENTUCKY -- I have been in a loan with this company for 3 months and 2 of the 3 months have been hell. Trying to get my payments in. I pay early and the payments don't go through the website. Their banking information(if saved on the site) changes monthly and they forget to make this known. I call in and just got into a fight with the representative because she refused to let me speak. She was right and I was wrong. If you want a continuous headache, go with this company. However I recommend DO NOT deal with this company at all. They shouldn't even be in business.

Both my car loans have been through Americredit. One I paid off and I had it for 3 years. My current one I have had a year and a half. I ALWAYS pay at www.americredit.com, have my payment info pre-loaded and have NOT ONCE had a problem ever with paying, getting credit for payment, etc. My payment is due the 18th of each month and I have paid it on their website on the 17th a few times (when I was out of town and forgot to pay earlier) and payment was received in time.

ARLINGTON, TEXAS -- Americredit of Arlington Texas, has the worst customer service, the cannot seem to keep up with payments and they penalize the customer, even when there is proof of delivery and copies of the cleared check have to be sent several times.

I work for Americredit, not the one in TX, but another one.....and it is not us that make the mistakes....it is the crapy customers, who have horrible credit and pay history who seem to forget that they would not have a vehicle if it were not for us. You all seems to think that the company owes you something when you cannot make your payments one time, when in turn you should be thanking Americredit and grow up.

Well said, my advice to your problem...Payoff Americredit and get a loan with another company you are happier with....or can't you?

Other banks do not want to deal with you once your in with Americredit. So pack that in your "statement"! Americredit has a bad reputation and I plan on passing the word around.
