Ann Taylor Emptied My Bank Account

COLORADO -- When I placed an order for one pair of pants, Ann Taylor hit my bank account 5 separate times for the same purchase amount leaving me with $1.26 in my bank account. I suspect if I had more funds in my checking account, they would have gone for much more. When I called Ann Taylor they told me that it was my mistake, that I must've left my shopping cart, or had an error on my end.

I had one submit and one confirmation email from Ann Taylor with the correct amount so I never thought to look for numerous duplicate charges to my bank account. I got off the phone with Ann Taylor feeling violated.

Ann Taylor's customer service told me they would not refund the 4 other single line item charges for 5 to 10 business days. They were rude, dismissive and nasty to me. My bank should have stopped the hit after hit after hit -- numerous identical charges, but they did not. They did, however, reverse the charges on Ann Taylor.

This conduct, on the part of Ann Taylor, constitutes fraud. I suspect they did this to thousands of online customers in order to finance a failing clothing business.

Poor Quality at Expensive Price
By -

I'm disgusted with Ann Taylor's poor quality of clothes and their lack of concern about customer complaints all the way up to Kay Krill the president. Their Client Services are quick and polite and apologize a lot but they're not empowered to solve any problems. Bottom line: The clothes are beautiful but the quality is horrendous.

Almost all the Ann Taylor clothes I've purchased are poorly made. Here are a few of the major ones: Hems fallout of pants after 2-3 wears; Linings rip in suits after a few dry-cleans; Hole in pant pockets after 1 dry cleaning and returned to store; Suit wore once and seam split in pants with hole that needs sewn; Heel fell off shoes 1 week after purchase. How can Ann Taylor sell such poor quality clothes at such high prices in such premium store locations? Worse... and not care?

Stealing Money From Their Employees
By -

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA -- Ann Taylor stole my wages by charging me for an insurance premium but NOT providing me insurance. They are refusing to refund me this premium and say this practice is "company policy". However, when I asked for a copy of the policy or their decision on this matter, they refused to provide me a copy of this in writing. No one in corporate HR thinks there is anything wrong with this practice of charging for a "benefit" that wasn't provided. This is how shiesty this company really is.

Next time you make that purchase at Ann Taylor, think of what type of company you are supporting. Happy Holidays.

Promotional Misrepresentation
By -

CANTON, OHIO -- On black Friday, my 28 year old daughter and I purchased $200 of clothes at Ann Taylor Loft. We were impressed with the sale that was going on (50% off) and we also received discount cards to be used a week later for $25 off for every $50 spent. I went back when the discount period was in effect to purchase a dress that my daughter tried on, but we hadn't purchased at our last visit. I was so excited to get the dress with the discount card. Imagine my surprise when the clerk told me that the discount couldn't be used because the dress was on sale and the discount was not applicable on sale items.

I did not purchase the dress because I was so upset at being misled. The clerk should have clarified that information when we received the cards. Shame on Ann Taylor Loft for conducting a promotion that is not a promotion. During these tough economic times when stores are competing for the consumer's dollars Ann Taylor needs to be more aware. I'm looking for a new clothing store that doesn't mislead the customer.

Sales Staff is Rude, Arrogant and Incompetent
By -

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA -- The sales staff and manager would not give me full refund with the receipts given, they would not honor the full return because they would not take the time or could not understand basic math or maybe reading. The receipts clearly indicated what the refund should be but all the staff and manager ganged up on me telling me I was wrong and refused to give me full refund. I had to drive across town to another Ann Taylor store the same day to get the full refund that should have been done to begin with. The staff is so arrogant, so rude, and condescending but they ended up to be wrong and I was right.

Attitude for Returning, No Apologies
By -

A few months ago I purchased several items online. One didn't fit correctly so I returned it to the Sacramento-Arden store. The clerk and her manager had a bad attitude because they thought I had worn it, plus it seems like they didn't like that I returned it. I went home angry and offended so I brought all the products back the next day. I don't like buying online because I sometimes have to return items, but there is never an adequate petite selection in stores.

I complained, via email, to the AT website, and I NEVER even received an apology. I continue to buy online at JCrew and the Gap. If I return the sales staff are SO nice. They realize that petites have no other choice, but to buy online and sometimes things just don't fit. I continue to resent their poor customer service, but I will not shop there again until I receive an apology.

Misleading And Poor Service
By -

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- Do NOT purchase from Ann Taylor's online store if you wish to be greatly disappointed. First, their sizes aren't accurate to fit. Secondly, they offer discounted "final sale" items but NEVER in the purchasing process do they mention that the product can not be exchanged or returned. They do not CLEARLY post or define what final sale means. It is not until you receive your purchase and in the FINE legal print does it mention Final Sale items can not be returned or exchanged. Of course by now you have made a purchase and are out of luck.

They are misleading, uncooperative when you call customer service, which they have none – they make their policies benefit their company only and offer NOTHING to the consumer. BE warned, poor service, misleading purchases, in accurate fitting guides and poorly manufactured clothes is what you'll find at Ann Taylor (not to mention they are overly priced).

Low Quality Clothing at High Prices

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- I have been an Ann Taylor shopper for years and every year, the quality of their clothing has gotten worse. This company has chosen to follow the latest trend in low quality disposable clothing that only holds up to a few wearings. Items are see through thin and look like they have been manufactured from cheese cloth rather than quality materials; I would gladly pay more for higher quality items that last. I will have to find a new retailer.
