Terrible Experience

OKLAHOMA -- My closing was delayed for 2 weeks after I had loan approval. We had to stay in a motel and keep our personal belonging in a truck. No apology. Take it or leave it. Communication was not there. Do not go there for your mortgage.

ARKANSAS -- Arvest Bank closed my account without noticing me. They did not call or e-mail or mail. And they do not help at all. Go with the big banks - these small banks need your money.

200K Deposit Not Shown

TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- Deposited certified check for 205,000. Checked online same day and deposit shown as $200,000. Where is the other 5000? Did not take a dime of that deposit and did not write any checks; absolutely no activity other than deposit. Went to bank. Besides staring at me like I'm crazy to be asking where my 5000 is, absolutely NO help. I sat there at least 45 minutes. Got several different answers including "You'll see the whole thing in a week." Huh? I had all backup with me including copies of check, deposit slip, etc. Never did get a straight answer.

Besides all this, there was also a $200 deposit I did not make. Huh? Finally called main number because the main branch in Tulsa is closed on weekends and no bank officers are available. Main number said the $200 is a "courtesy" so people can get a little money. I didn't want or ask for money. I wanted to see the full deposit. PERIOD. Turns out the missing $5000 is available for cash (not shown online though). The rest is on hold for clearance.

OK. I understand clearing a big check but I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY ARVEST WILL NOT SIMPLY SHOW THE ENTIRE DEPOSIT TO THE PENNY WITH A STATEMENT ABOUT SO MUCH ON HOLD UNTIL... DATE, 5000 AVAILABLE. Skip the $200 convenience... especially when I said we don't want to take a penny of this. Idiots. Possibly sneaky. Certainly hateful and rude. Sure wish I'd read the reviews of this Wal-Mart bank before I tried to make a deposit.

Bank Buyout of Bank of America

HOT SPRINGS, ARKANSAS -- I have been a loyal customer to Bank of America since 1993. I have never had insufficient funds, or written hot checks. This bank buy out from Arvest, has left me owing money and writing hot checks. I was under the impression to tear up my Bank of America checks and start using my Arvest, which I did to 3 credit card companies, and 2 local bills. I went to make a deposit to Arvest, I was told, not yet not until Monday.

I was shocked, I ask what about the checks I have written. Well you should have read the book correctly. You will just have to pay for insufficient funds and check return fees. I am so disappointed in this bank. They refused to hold the checks I wrote for 2 days until the money was transferred. I will not use this bank at all. I will close it out as soon as possible. Do not use this lying money hungry bank.

MAUMELLE, ARKANSAS -- After years of banking at Arvest and 15 years of free checking, now that I'm over 65, Arvest has decided to do away with free checking... regardless of age or past loyalty. The saddest part is they do it without an ounce of remorse for loyal customers who have banked there for years.

I went in personally to see if there were any other options, and aside from some ridiculously remote options of allowing them to invest my money and pay me nothing in return, the answer was "Well, these are your choices, take it or leave it."

So what ever happened to customer curiosity? When I went back to close my checking account, they were completely indifferent and just gladly handed over my remaining balance! Not one mention of "Sorry to lose a loyal customer... or why are you leaving us?" Arvest Bank is ALL about itself and no one else. I'm glad to be rid of them. By the way, I now run my checking account through my Credit Union. They are happy to have my business.

Arvest Bank Took the Little Money We Had to Pay for Son's Chemo Meds
By -

WEBB CITY, MISSOURI -- I had a problem a couple of weeks ago because of a check which had apparently bounced at the time I called the bank because I was negative by $69. I explained that I had not realized my account was in jeopardy and requested assistance because other payments were going to bounce which would create even more of a mess. So now I am overdrawn by $174. I called the bank again and explained that we need this money for our son's chemo medications and was told they would not assist us. Okay so what now? Our 14 yr old has to have medication.

Want to Get Screwed, Come to Arvest

You want your name slandered all over your credit report even if the problem wasn't your fault ? Well, if that is pleasing to you the experts at Arvest can certainly make it happen. I was simply on an account with someone who had some problems and the oversight was reported to credit reporting agencies and has dinged my credit as if I did this. I had nothing to do with it. I never received any notice of anything, not being the primary account holder. This is a cheap shot and a testament of the new low being embraced by Arvest. I would strongly resist the urge to bank with them as the benefits are none and the penalties are many.

Poor Customer Service - You Won't Be Happy!

TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- I have banked at Arvest for 14 years with little problems. When I opened a business account with them 3 years ago I have experienced several. Every time I would go to a branch for a deposit the teller would want to convert my savings account to a money market account. After many no's, one day a money market account popped up on my on line banking. This lady converted my account without permission, no signatures, authorization, no nothing! I immediately had this situation corrected and demanded my account be reinstated as it was. This was 2 years ago.

Last year I had a problem with my online banking site keep logging out after only a few minutes of logging in. The customer service department and IT says it's not their problem, it's my computer. I told them I tried 3 different computers with different ip addresses and had the same problem. I was talked to very rudely and was told "Deal with it, it's not our problem." (It mysteriously corrected itself the following day.)

Well the money market situation did not go away. I discovered I was not receiving interest on my money the last few years because the savings account was not "reopened" but my account was still active, so no interest was accrued. I was told they will only go back 6 months for crediting interest but will do me a favor and extend it for a year. I was told It was my fault for not catching their mistake.

I closed 2 savings accounts, personal checking, business checking, merchant account and I was set up as a vendor to offer my customers bank loans. NEVER AGAIN! I now bank at American Heritage with wonderful customer service.

Best Bank in Town

LAWTON, OKLAHOMA -- My husband and I have been with Arvest for two years. We are extremely happy with their service. When I opened our account they were able to do everything for me including: changing our direct deposit over to their bank. Changing our Insurance electronic payments to them. I didn't have to do a thing. This was great since my husband was in Iraq at that time. Our account is always balanced at the end of the month. The Employees are always friendly and able to help in any way. We have had no problems with this bank. Even when we call on the phone we are treated well. I would recommend this bank to anyone.

Arvest Bank Is Not Worth Your Time Banking At!
By -

MOORE, OKLAHOMA -- There was a mix up with my daughter's direct deposit resulting in it not being deposited than it should have. Of course this made her UNKNOWINGLY fall short in her account. Arvest continued to let her use her card until her overdraft charges reached about $400 in fees. Could they have declined her card? Of course. Notify her? Of course. Did they? No, of course not because they were making to much money off of a 19 year old college student.

The kicker is that she even had the amount in her savings account (same bank). This has wiped out what little savings she had for college expenses and life in general. Other banks show more compassion & understanding in these rare and unfortunate events. If you are looking for a bank don't go to Arvest and try a credit union with real people not a bunch of greed seekers. SHAME ON ARVEST!
