Avianca Charged to Credit Card without Authorization

I was surprised to see a $940.35 transaction on my credit card from "AVIANCA PN". I never used or purchased any tickets or service from this.

When I talk to their customer service, they asked me to send all the details to their email ID "", and customer representative was taking this case very lightly as if they know it happens very often.

I am not sure it is a FRAUD airlines and I have into an identity theft. Anyway the AVIANCA has not co-operated me about this transaction.

I am going to dispute this with my Bank, but it is really a painful process to go with.

If you had NO dealings with this airline whatsoever, I would alert the all 3 credit bureaus as to probable identity theft.

If this is fraud it is probably not Avianca's fault. If someone has your credit card number, address and security code they can get past all the security features most websites and call centers use.

File a chargeback with your credit card company if you have never had any dealings with Avianca.

It happens all the time with them, I worked in their call center and I know this is very common with this Colombian-Brazilian airline . Just let me know if you need some help with your chargeback dispute.

Yesterday there were 2 purchases one for $1,700 and $1,100 listed on my bank account from Avianca Pn, Panama. I had to notify the authorities as well.

This just happened to me, what can I do, I have notified my bank and they have started a investigations, will the airline do anything ?
