She will do all of this while weakening you with her $10 million dollar smile, and INCREDIBLE BODY!
Seriously - Ask for Claudia!
AND GET A PERSONAL TRAINING PACKAGE - YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

you may be one of the few happy Bally customers. It takes a lot to join and then post the same day using the handle miamigym review. It sure sounds unbiased and not at all suspicious. I'm sure to watch for your continued reviews.

Stay away from Bally's fitness these people are sharks, they altered the date on my contract by changing the date, I lost the original and now I'm stuck with payments. No lawyer will take the case.

Please don't make the same mistake I made.

Bally Total Fitness Complaint Nightmare

I had the same problem. Signed up for monthly special, no long term contact but when the time to cancel OMG. I am paying for a dirty facility, bad service, old and outdated equipment. So I called to cancel my contact. I waited on the phone for morn than 20 minutes to find out that I have to write a latter to the company.
My solution is BBB. Complaint to BBB is the real answer. I recommend everyone that having the same issue to do the same and hopefully the company will get it and change the way they do business.

Did you try writing the letter? I'm pretty sure that will work. Most gyms require a letter to cancel.

BBB doesn't DO anything folks! They can't force businesses to change policies. I'm sure somewhere in their agreement there is a paragraph on their cancellation policy, and in there likely a note about the only method of cancellation being signed letter.

Saying the BBB "doesn't do anything" is a generalization. The BBB in fact does do things. They have helped me twice, and I am monitoring the effect complaints are having on a company that recently changed its name to avoid its dark past.

As for what the BBB may do in this particular case, I DON'T believe it is the solution at all. Thousands and thousands of people have been toasted by Bally's. I would guess their rating is F, and they think it stands for Fantastic.

They act as a mediator. They can try and get the business involved but if the business slams the door in their face all they can do is shrug and walk away. BBB can't force anything on anyone.

Allot of people check out the BBB when dealing with a Business, including me. Its in the Best interest of the Business to work with the BBB to get the issue resolved or else they will get a bad mark.

Its prob not a big deal to big corporations but to a small business or a small company it can mean allot.

Worst Gym

JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY -- Great advertisements and talks prior to enrollment, but completely sucks once you enroll. Remember to read word by word your contract, and after going through the contract for a week, then enroll if you are ok with conditions. Very simple though they say 10 day cancellation notice, it actually requires 2 month prior notice.

1. Lot of hidden costs and clauses
2. Inconvenient cancellation/termination process
3. Not suitable for personal work-out plan unless you hire a personal trainer.
4. There is bosu ball in personal training area but not available to members.
5. Nice resistance ball in personal training area but small and bad ones for members.
6. If you just want to do junk weight lifts and inappropriate cardio, this is the perfect place.

Crowded
Stinking
Lengthy cancellation terms
Costs more in long term
Bad equipment

Did the OP even do a tour of the facility before joining? I would like to think that at the very least, the "crowded", "stinking", and "bad equipment" would have been discovered right up front. Any contract should always be read thoroughly before signing.

I had a membership at a Bally location years ago. It was really cheap. It wasn't that good, but I felt I got my money's worth.

Cancellation of contract

This is one of the worst organization in America. What a crap company. I called them up on 2nd Feb to cancel my subscription. My next billing date was 4th of February They said they will cancel my subscription. But I was charged on 4th February I called them again, they said I did not give them enough time to cancel the subscription and they will not be refunding my balance. 2 days are not enough in this electronic age!! And I can't even mention how rude the customer service lady was; this was my first experience with such a customer service in America. I do not speak English so fluently, so I felt she was insulting me by the way she was talking.
I have called up my bank as well to cancel the auto pay option and do not pay them. I cancelled the subscription because I was moving from Seattle to San Diego. Bally's is right around the corner but I prefer to go 3 miles ti another gym and pay a little more and get a little more respect.

Truth about bally

The following is my experience with Bally.
Most of the staffing is rude, including but not limited to maintenance, management, personal trainers. Most of the staffing is not only caustic,
but they are not helpful. They are professional liars and will tell you
that the air conditioning is off because it is broken and will be working
soon. When in fact, the air conditioning will be off the entire summer so
they can save money. The rest rooms are a battlefield of germs. With toilets not flushing and bathrooms untidy and dirty. The lockers do not
get cleaned either. Cleaning is not in their vocabulary. Forget about
customer service, that is not in their vocabulary either. When you call
corporate you will get someone different every time. You should not have
to call corporate for anything anyway. The Bally center you are a member in should be able to solve any and all problems. DO NOT SIGN UP AT BALLYS.

You can give their corporate HQ in Chicago a call at 773-380-3000, but I'm not sure it will make a difference.

Don't Become A Member Of Bally Total Fitness

CALIFORNIA -- I went to Bally's on a quest pass, and before I could step foot on any exercise machine they called a worker up front to take me in an office and get me to become a member. He was going over all the "so called perks" and convinced me into signing what I thought was a month to month deal. I asked him over and over "this isn't a contract right?" and every time I asked he said "NO". Come to find out after $2,300 dollar bill I had signed a 3 year contract unbenoced to me. I tried to cancel the membership and was told the only way to cancel is if you have medical reason why you can't work out and a doctor has to write them a letter. I was so pissed because I was totally lied to. By the way I only worked out twice with the membership. So I advise to not sign anything no matter what they try to tell you. It's a total scam because they know nobody is going to sit and read all the pages and understand exactly what there talking about. I have spoken with several people who Bally Total Fitness has done the same thing to.

Discrimination

REVERE, MASSACHUSETTS -- I went there to enroll myself in Gym, as soon as I entered they jumped right in front of me as soon as I said that I am here to sign up for Gym.
She took me to her office to finish all the paperwork, I did sign up, but they never mentioned about their promotion that they had (JOIN NOW and sign up your friend for 6 month free membership) on the way out I saw the promotional sign and took a U-TURN to sign up my friend as well since he was with me too and the denied to give us the promotion they made different excuses not to give us the promotion and then meanwhile one of them went and took the sign off like they never had the promotion. I really felt DISCRIMINATED since they all white and they thought I am Spanish with my black hair. THis place is disgusting If I were the manager I would fire all these racists.

I know people who are hispanic and they have blonde hair. I know people who are white who have black hair. You're jumping to conclusions and pulling the race card. How do you know that they thought you were Spanish caise of your black hair? Did they say thay to you? Or are you just upset because they refused the promotion for you?

Two reasons why they didn't honor the promotion.

1: The promotion was over and the missed a sign while taking the signs down.

2: The promotion was that you and a friend had to sign up at the same time. You had already completed your sign up and there may be NO WAY that they could do the promotion for the two of you.

Terrible DISHONEST COMPANY------Poor Service

Worst company ever!!!!!!!!! Don't ever sign up with them, it is not worth the grief at all. They are the most dishonest THIEVING COMPANY that I have ever been with. First off, they have you sign a three year contract and don't mention a thing about it. They don't tell you their opt. out policies until it's too late, well actually I never told about them at all. Then they claim to change your rate to a lower rate at the facility and they never do (to try to keep you as a customer after your contract expires). Then when I finally cancelled, I ended up being billed for two extra months even though I was already signed up through another gym and customer service was literally USELESS!!!! The system keeps looping you so it's so hard to actually talk to someone then she refused to credit my acct. and proceeded to ask me how she could keep me as a customer even though I already explained to her that I already signed up to another gym. WORST COMPANY EVER!!! WILL BE CALLING BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and I suggest you do the same if they screwed you too.
I will be posting on Facebook to get the word out to not become a customer of BAllys. Not to mention that their facilities are old and their equipment is often broken.

I went to the cable weights downstairs of the gym and wanted put the rope into the hook to start my workout. It was approximately 3pm on Tuesday, November 23. I opened the hook to put rope and it was as sharp as a knife. I cut my thumb pretty bad. I immediately went to the bathroom to run water on it and put a paper towel on it so I could use it to compress the area and stop it from bleeding. There were not paper towels. They had been replaced by electric hand dryers a long time ago. I went to management, told them what happened and showed them my cut finger. The manager told me to go to some other guy that takes care of that. The guy was doing cashier work so I had to wait for him to finish with my bleedy finger. I told him what happened and took him to the equipment so he could see it. I told him he should also disinfect it because I have AIDS and if someone else gets cut they might get infected and not know they got it from there. The guy said he would take care of it right away. I went to the locker room to change so I could go home and 10 minutes later when I got out there was no one at that equipment nor any sign posted there. On my way out I told the manager that they should really consider putting paper towels back in the bathroom but he said they aren't going to do that for two reasons; 1. cleanliness and 2. cost. I said, alright, its your option and I left. I was going to just forget about the incident but then I thought I should at least put a review in writing on the internet so there is a written record of what happened somewhere. If they end up not disinfecting the equipment (but I hope they follow through and do so), or there might be one or more people getting infected if they get cut just like me. I wonder how many other people might have gotten cut already and not reported it at all. If you go to Bally's Hollywood, just be careful when using the equipment. If you get cut have yourself tested for HIV two weeks after you get cut and again 6 months after you got cut just to be sure you weren't infected.
