Never Join Ballys They Don't Give Refunds Even If They Close
By -

CANTON, OHIO -- NEVER EVER JOIN BALLYS. The company is a scam and thrives on ripping off innocent hardworking people. I was a member for 6 years & they closed the 2 locations within 25 miles from my home. I was never notified the places were closing and they won't refund the 8 months membership dues I already paid before they closed. Now the closest Bally's to me is 33 miles away and my contract clearly states I can cancel if there are no locations within a 25 mile radius of my home address. They let me cancel, but won't refund me. WHAT A RIP OFF. I will have to contact the attorney general and start a class action lawsuit to get my refund.

I even told Bally customer service I would leave reviews all over the internet & contact any news media that would listen & Bally's doesn't care. CALL YOUR STATES ATTORNEY GENERAL IF THEY ARE GIVING YOU THE SAME RUN AROUND. CALL 1-866-40-BALLY and make them spend the money on customer service reps they stole from you!!!!!!!!!!

This Gym Is Awesome

CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA -- Let me explain why this gym is so good. Great staff – helpful, smart, fun, funny, and friendly – make conversation with them, joke with them, or just pick their brain for workout tips. Sexy people – the women here are HOT! The members are hot, but the staff is even hotter! Don't believe me? Then schedule a sales appointment with Claudia – she has worked in a gym her whole life and will give you a rundown of everything that you need to know about fitness. She will do all of this while weakening you with her $10 million dollar smile, and incredible body! Seriously, ask for Claudia! AND GET A PERSONAL TRAINING PACKAGE. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Truth About Bally

The following is my experience with Bally. Most of the staffing is rude, including but not limited to maintenance, management, personal trainers. Most of the staffing is not only caustic, but they are not helpful. They are professional liars and will tell you that the air conditioning is off because it is broken and will be working soon. When in fact, the air conditioning will be off the entire summer so they can save money.

The rest rooms are a battlefield of germs. With toilets not flushing and bathrooms untidy and dirty. The lockers do not get cleaned either. Cleaning is not in their vocabulary. Forget about customer service, that is not in their vocabulary either. When you call corporate you will get someone different every time. You should not have. To call corporate for anything anyway. The Bally center you are a member in should be able to solve any and all problems. DO NOT SIGN UP AT BALLY'S.

Don't Become a Member of Bally Total Fitness
By -

CALIFORNIA -- I went to Bally's on a quest pass and before I could step foot on any exercise machine they called a worker upfront to take me in an office and get me to become a member. He was going over all the "so called perks" and convinced me into signing what I thought was a month to month deal. I asked him over and over "this isn't a contract right?" and every time I asked he said "NO". Come to find out after $2,300 dollar bill I had signed a 3 year contract unbeknownst to me.

I tried to cancel the membership and was told the only way to cancel is if you have medical reason why you can't work out and a doctor has to write them a letter. I was so pissed because I was totally lied to. By the way I only worked out twice with the membership. So I advise to not sign anything no matter what they try to tell you. It's a total scam because they know nobody is going to sit and read all the pages and understand exactly what they're talking about. I have spoken with several people who Bally Total Fitness has done the same thing to.

Discrimination

REVERE, MASSACHUSETTS -- I went there to enroll myself in Gym, as soon as I entered they jumped right in front of me as soon as I said that I am here to sign up for Gym. She took me to her office to finish all the paperwork, I did sign up, but they never mentioned about their promotion that they had (JOIN NOW and sign up your friend for 6-month free membership).

On the way out I saw the promotional sign and took a U-TURN to sign up my friend as well since he was with me too and they denied to give us the promotion. They made different excuses not to give us the promotion and then meanwhile one of them went and took the sign off like they never had the promotion. I really felt DISCRIMINATED since they all white and they thought I am Spanish with my black hair. This place is disgusting. If I were the manager I would fire all these racists.

Terrible Dishonest Company - Poor Service
By -

Worst company ever!!! Don't ever sign up with them, it is not worth the grief at all. They are the most dishonest THIEVING COMPANY that I have ever been with. First off, they have you sign a three-year contract and don't mention a thing about it. They don't tell you their opt-out policies until it's too late. Well actually I never told about them at all. Then they claim to change your rate to a lower rate at the facility and they never do (to try to keep you as a customer after your contract expires).

Then when I finally cancelled, I ended up being billed for two extra months even though I was already signed up through another gym and customer service was literally useless!!! The system keeps looping you so it's so hard to actually talk to someone then she refused to credit my acct. and proceeded to ask me how she could keep me as a customer even though I already explained to her that I already signed up to another gym.

WORST COMPANY EVER!!! Will be calling Better Business Bureau and I suggest you do the same if they screwed you too. I will be posting on Facebook to get the word out to not become a customer of Ballys. Not to mention that their facilities are old and their equipment is often broken.

I Hate Bally Total Fitness

MAPLE SHADE, NEW JERSEY -- Bally Total Fitness at Maple Shade, New Jersey pisses me off so much, I quit. They keep temperature in exercise areas at 77F all year round and they even do not turn fans for fresh air when it is colder outside. When raining outside, all windows get so wet inside from the sweating members you can not see through. Feels like in tropics. They removed paper towels in the locker rooms too. So after hand washing members add more heat from hand dryers. No wonder I got sick so often during last year since the breathing air is not refreshed.

But hold, every year they cut work hours. From yesterday, September 14, 2010 they cut one hour from a week day (was opened till 10 pm, now to 9 pm), and three hours from weekend (Saturday was opened till 7 pm, now till 5 pm and Sunday was opened to 6 pm, now till 5 pm). And this is going every year.

I have flexible hours but can't find a slot where I have reasonable access to exercise equipment since member density increased so much. And now I have to break my days off at 3 pm to exercise. It used to be open till 11 pm on weekdays and till 10 pm on weekends. Managers completely ignore any requests. I was going to Bally for 11 year to save time, they are a minute from my house but no more. I HATE BALLY TOTAL FITNESS.

Worst Company

NEW JERSEY -- I signed a 3 yrs contract with Bally's club. After my contact was up 6 months ago I wanted to continue going to the gym. I was told not to worry about any contract just pay as I go, come to find I could not attend the club as the info given was incorrect. I was told by one of the club to contact the corporate dept and discussed my concerns. I called Bally's for days, weeks, months and no one can resolve my problems. I called back the club and they were willing to give me a plan that would cost me 20.33 per month but in order for me to get that I would have to pay an activation fee in the amount of 48.00 which I refused.

The club mentioned that they could not waived the 48.00, only corporate is allow so I called corporate and they can't do anything about the 48.00. I've never come across any company is my life this complicated, no one seem to know their right from left. I would never recommend my worst enemy to Bally's. You spend hours and hours on the phone and when you do get someone on the line he or she cannot give you the help needed. This is the worst: my sister added me to her account 3 weeks ago... They had my name is the system as John... They withdrawn money from my account and still haven't fix the issue as of date.

Horrible Experience
By -

DO NOT GO HERE. I have had an absolutely miserable experience with this gym. I signed up for a membership plus 3 personal training sessions. Now they say I only get 2 sessions because the 3rd one was a gift! Also, I've been through hell and back trying to get my first session scheduled. The trainer was 20 min. late and did no warm up or cool down so I was writhing in pain for days because of inadequate stretching, etc. of my muscles. Then today after calling 3 times to track down a trainer to schedule the next session, I arrived to the appt. and the trainer was a no show.

I asked for a refund because I have gotten only a terrible stressful experience, not the positive boost to my exercise routine that I needed. They are refusing to validate my concerns and keep saying that these sessions are gifts that they don't have to honor. I don't get it, it's crazy!

They had given me a credit for a couple of months of membership for the hassle I went through but said they were still going to hold up their end of the deal with the personal training sessions. After being stood up today, I asked for a refund for the terrible excuse for personal training experience I've gotten. Now they say they don't owe me the personal training sessions anymore. What? Save yourself! Stay away from this crazy place. Hope you learn from my mistake.

Poor Maintenance
By -

PENNHILLS, PENNSYLVANIA -- I am a school teacher and a coach. I have been a member for over 15 years and have witnessed the steady decline of services, maintenance and cleanliness. The only time that I can take full advantage of my membership is during the summer. This summer I have been wanting to take a steam in the sauna, however it has been down for over 3 weeks. I will be returning back to work without taking advantage of the one service that I look forward to. Additionally there is a bike that I like to ride. And it was missing a pedal. That is very poor service and I can see why more and more members are leaving to join other clubs.
