Best Buy Rips Off Disabled Woman for $100
By -

I purchased a 22" LCD widescreen monitor from Best Buy online right after Christmas. I am disabled and I cannot shop in stores where I have to walk around. When I started using the monitor, it was damaged. There were lines all over the screen. I called Best Buy cust. service and talked to them about returning the monitor. I wanted to know how to do this since I cannot come into the store. They could not help me, they told me their policies and that was that.

I called the nearest Best Buy (45 min. away) and talked to them, explained my situation, and they agreed that I could send my brother to return the monitor and then he would have to purchase another one after they returned the money from the first monitor to my checking account. When I purchased the monitor online, I used a $100 gift card and the rest came from my checking account. I immediately shredded the gift card after I used it (in my shredder from Best Buy) as there was nothing on the website that stated I needed to keep the invalid card in case of returns.

So when the monitor was returned, instead of returning the money to my checking account and giving him a gift card for $100 to buy the next monitor, they returned part of the money to my checking account and $100 to a shredded gift card. =\

So he comes home with a receipt for the purchase of a new monitor all of it charged to my checking account and a receipt for a shredded gift card. If I didn't have that gift card, I never would have purchased the monitor in the first place. Since they knew the first gift card was already invalid, why couldn't they have issued him a new gift card to buy the monitor?

I called CS again. Not budging. I told her I was on a limited income, I am disabled and I don't need to spend another $100 at Best Buy. Not only have I now gone $100 over my budget for the month, but now I need to go buy something else at a store that has just ripped me off? It's not right how I was treated as a loyal customer of Best Buy. I have bought ALL of my electronics at BB for the past 3 or 4 years now. Computers, cellphones, games, discs, mouse(s) for gaming, hard drives, etc., etc. I have spent a lot of money and this is how I am treated?

It's wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong that MONEY comes before treating others fairly. I will never, never shop at Best Buy again. And I'll make sure that everyone I know knows how they have treated me, especially after I let them know about my income, that they are greedy and unfair.

Best Buy Nationwide Scams!!!

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- Be alerted that Best Buy is presently involved as defendants in multi-million dollar law suits for criminal offenses involving product fraud. Just type on your search engine Best Buy Fraud! This type of felony is being ignored by Law Enforcement Officials since Best Buy is a major influential conglomerate. I'm a Private Detective and presently retained an Attorney in order to establish a Nationwide Class Action Law Suit against the predators, Best Buy. If you are a victim of the listed offenses then read on... Fraud, False pretenses, False promises, Misrepresentation,
Misleading statements, Selling Defective Products as new, Not Honoring Warranty.

They are intentionally selling all type of damaged electronic devices, computers, televisions, etc. that are manufactured in Communist China and negligently put together. The result is that you get a mechanism that will not operate accordingly. Also, their deceptive Insurance Plan is never honored and they refuse to be responsible for such!

Thus, this is a criminal enterprise that is misrepresenting the interest of the Public and many victims don't know where to go. In addition, when you as a consumer contact Best Buy Headquarter in Minnesota, they also refuse to replace or exchange or refund your item. This is plain and simple "Fraud". More interestingly is how the General State Attorneys Office ignores the pleas of many victimized consumers!!!

Therefore, my class action lawsuit will integrate and generate Millions of dollars in damages for all those who sign up with proof of purchases! Let's get the ball rolling and put these criminals out of business. Please also network this email among all your friends and feel free to publish it freely on the Internet and printed materials for other victims to see! Do not buy products at the Kendall Drive store, Miami, Florida, under their criminal Manager. This Neanderthal is a real Gangster!

Never Shop at Best Buy

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- I purchased what I thought was a brand new Phillips LCD flat screen Television, which cost $1,299. When my husband and I came home with it and opened it all that was in there was the television, no accessories or instructions, nothing. We also noticed that it had not been packaged inside properly. They had sold us something that was not brand new, something that instead was returned by a customer, something that we did not want to pay for.

When we called their customer service number, the representative wanted to quickly pass us off to the manufacturer, saying that once it was out of their store it was up to the manufacturer to replace the parts. I tried to explain to him that it wasn't only the missing parts that we wanted, it was an entirely new TV, which is what we were entitled to in the first place. His response was that "We would have to disagree on that."

How is it possibly justified that we cannot return an item that was misrepresented by the company! This kind of customer service is appalling and unprofessional. He was busy following a script, rather than taking an interest in what happened to us, and it turned out to be that he was entirely wrong.

We took the Television back, thanks to the manufacturer advising us to do so (we did call them), and they did exchange it, and they assured us it was factory sealed. They gave no apology, but they could see right away that what they sold us was a returned item. Isn't it illegal to try to pass off a returned item as a new one? Also, the staff were too busy hanging out with each other rather than helping customers. I wanted to make sure that people are aware of this. I will never shop there again.

Bad Customer Service From Best Buy

TACOMA, WASHINGTON -- Purchased 42" HD plasma TV Dec 5, 2006 from Best Buy at the Tacoma mall store (WA). Given install appt 6 days later which I couldn't get home in time for. Called to reschedule and was told the soonest was Dec 27, 2006. Magnolia, their scheduling company, said they were actually booking into week of Jan 6, 2007 and I was lucky I was getting an earlier appt. I think this is a long time for anyone to wait for an install. Spoke to a supervisor that promised to either call me back or have an install person call to see what they could do.

Three days later with no callback I tried to contact supervisor who was not available. Installers were a no show on the 27th. Spoke to supervisor who said he would talk to the installer at 9amrunaround. I made the comment that I was about ready to return it since I was so frustrated that I can't seem to get it installed. and see what happened then would contact me. At 2pm, no return call so I tried to contact supervisor who was not avail so I asked for his supervisor. I spoke to a district manager and explained how frustrated I was trying to get the TV installed and that I spent a lot of time on the phone getting the His reply was "And you still can do that."

I was even madder after his comment. He then said "What do you want me to do?" I said..."Install my TV." He acted like he couldn't care less about my situation. His attitude was very inappropriate. Meanwhile, I am paying for the cable box rental fees, the programming and received a Best Buy bill!! TV installed the 28th. Missing a critical hook-up plug that I wasn't told about at the store. $60.00 item. What a headache this experience has been. I should have been informed BEFORE I purchased the $200.00 install that there was a long wait. Maybe I would've made other choices. I have always recommended this company but now I have second thoughts.

Pleasant Surprise

MESA, ARIZONA -- When an elderly couple I know had problems playing tapes on a DVD/VCR deck they bought at BB, I offered to help them troubleshoot the problem. The video images were horribly "snowy" from video noise on any tape they tried. After extensive experimentation, we concluded the problem was in the video heads. This was 4 months since the purchase on a unit with a 3 month warranty. I accompanied them to the store (@ Superstition Springs Mall, E. Mesa, AZ) they bought the unit from and got into line at the Geek Squad service counter.

A tech diagnosed the problem as dirty heads. "Had a head cleaner ever been run through the machine?" he asked. It hadn't but one was available. He then carried the deck up to the front of the store into the customer service area and proceeded to take the cover off the unit & clean the heads himself, then he tested the unit with a store tape to show us it now worked OK. Wonderful, we thought. Took the machine home & reinstalled it. A couple pre-recorded tapes played just as badly as before we took it in.

Back to the store the next day. Wound up with the same tech (he remembered us even with all the people he must've dealt with). This time we brought along one of the tapes that was playing so badly. He again met us up at the CS counter where he repeated the cover removal & head cleaning. But when he inserted the customer's tape the video "snow" was evident. When he played the store tape the picture looked fine. He concluded the new TAPE was bad. We told him every tape we try to play looks like the "snowy" one.

He tried playing with the mechanism, but was baffled, so, to our amazement, he offered to exchange the bad deck for a replacement one. We grabbed a sealed carton of the same model. They processed an even-exchange transaction, & we were on our way. I never expected that kind of response after all the horror stories I've read on Best Buy's service. By the way, when the replacement deck was reinstalled, it played any tape beautifully, including the new one that was taken to the store to do the testing. The heads really had gone bad in the problem unit.

Liars & Thieves - I Will Never Step Foot In A Best Buy Again!

EAGAN, MINNESOTA -- I purchased a 32" Samsung LCD TV and a 4 year warranty in Eagan, MN on 2/14/09. I hooked it up that evening, watched it for a couple of hours (the picture was great) and decided it was esthetically too big for the room. The very next morning I carefully packed it back up and returned to the store. When I told customer service that I would like to return it, she said that they had to check it first and took the TV away out of my sight.

I didn't think anything of it until they came back 15 minutes later and told me that the TV was damaged by an impact! I couldn't believe it. There was absolutely no way that could have happened. They took me back to where they had the TV and sure enough there was damage... But not by me! I told them that the TV was in perfect condition and the only way that had happened was someone from the Geek Squad just damaged it and they were trying to pin it on me!

There were numerous tools on the counter and I KNOW that's what had to have happened... That one of those tools dropped on the TV screen. Needless to say, they would not return it because of their "policy"! I now have a TV that THEY DAMAGED and out $500+!! What kind of multi-million dollar company does that to their customers? I'm obviously not the only one. Shame on you Best Buy! I will tell everyone I cannot to patronize your company!

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- On October 10th unfortunately, I purchased a Vizio Smart TV in Best Buy store located at Dadeland Station, Miami, Fl for $869.98 plus another 219.51 for offshore shipping. As I am international customer to check or inspect the TV in the store at the moment of purchasing, it was not a options according with Best Buy sales policy.

The product itself is supposed to have a one year warranty??? According with the sale staff and the start Vizio guide but after this situation, I am along wasting more than $1.000. Now I am receiving a TV with a factory screen defective. I remark received a very well package with excellent in and out conditions but clearly with factory defective. I am trying my best effort in order to resend the product back to Florida with a very expensive cost.

WATERFORD, CONNECTICUT -- I purchased a TV. The box had a small dent in it. When I went to assemble the TV, the screen had some marks on it and was defective. It was apparent also that the TV had been repackaged. Best Buy refused to exchange it. They accused me of damaging it. I did not - I handled it very carefully. I had to buy a new one, and the new box also had dents. They claimed they would never let a box out of their store with dents - obviously a false claim. I am suing them in small claims court. I have given them a lot of business, and was very disappointed with how they treated me.

Store Credit Was Offered in Place of Cash After Destroying My Dad's TV!!!

PASADENA, TEXAS -- My dad's TV decided not to turn on after only six months of owning it. He had insurance on it, so he took it in to get it repaired. They took the TV and shipped it to wherever it is they send it for repairs. When he went to pick up his TV they said that the TV was destroyed in shipping and is now unfixable and the best they could do is give him store credit towards a new TV. That's BS because he got it on sale and he really liked that brand and they no longer carry it! He asked for his money back so he could take his business elsewhere and they told him no that it had to be store credit!

After THEY destroyed it! Who wants to buy something again from someone who was so inefficient the first time around?? So he ended up having to spend MORE money out of pocket to get another TV of the same size as his old one! Best Buy you just lost a longtime customer! We have shopped there many years but after that incident... Never again!

Best Buy Practices False Advertisement

ON-LINE, USA, FLORIDA -- On 04/18/2012 Best Buy decided to abruptly and without considering me as the excellent customer that I am, to just cancel my two pre-orders: Order # ** placed on 03/23/12 and order # ** placed on 04/08/12. For 2 each order, totaling 4 of the Dark Shadows LIMITED edition DVD collection of 2500 copies, a signed and limited edition numbered one. I had plenty of chance to pre-order from Amazon.com at same price, or at Deepdiscounts.com for $360.00 instead of Best Buy price of $419.99, since I believe that Best Buy was a reliable and trustworthy Company.

I wish Best Buy respected us, its customers, a lot more. Best Buy sold this same limited edition set, in big quantities, to scalpers that now are selling them 3 times as much in secondary markets such as eBay. Best Buy practices FALSE ADVERTISEMENT, and plays this PRE-ORDER TRICK to customers that trust Best Buy, to prevent us from pre-ordering from their competition, to then just tell us they are sorry and that the PRE-ORDER had been canceled.

This is a very dirty trick from Best Buy, and I will escalate it to whoever I have to until I get what I pre-ordered. They believe that just by telling us to order the other set, the one that is coming out in 07/10/2012, and that will be mass produced without signature and limited edition number?? What kind of customer policy integrity you have? I had the chance to pre-order it somewhere else, but I decided to order for the "trusted" and "reliable" Best Buy. You need to get me what I pre-order. I hope somebody at Best Buy Corporate gets this message and takes OWNERSHIP accordingly! Thank you kindly.
