FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- I never had heard of a pet hospice, but I'm SO glad I found them. They are based in Fort Worth, Texas and serve the Metroplex. The owners of Beyond the Rainbow Pet Hospice and Memorial Center are Terry Branson and Kate Moore who are retired, licensed "human" funeral directors and are now serving in that capacity for pets. When my 13 y/o Lab, Sam, began to have trouble getting in and out of the car and having health issues, I called them to come out and evaluate. Working with a vet who also came out, they were able to help Sammy with his pain issues. When it finally came time to let him go, they continued their wonderful support. They came to the house with Dr. Simpson and we had the most wonderful, peaceful experience I could ever imagine. Being able to have him (and us) at home for the transition was worlds above having to take him to the vet's office.

They offer complete "after" services too. They will set up a memorial service if you desire and will handle the cremation or burial - whatever you decide. From the moment they first came, they consistently checked on us, and let us know they were - and still are - here for us - any time day or night.

They are the only pet hospice in Texas and are leaders in the profession.

I could go on and on about what wonderful, compassionate people they are and how this is their heart's work. Call them BEFORE the decision time, and they can help you through the whole journey. Or just at the end, whenever you need them.

The concept of pet hospice has been gaining steady momentum, and is similar to human hospice services. They can be a help and comfort to grieving pet owners who often consider their pet as family. I'm sure they appreciate the recognition. Good review.
