No Quality Control, Crappy Return Policy
Posted by on
CULVER CITY -- Over the past few weeks, I have bought 16 Sector and Tonino Lamborghini watches from bidz.com. Of these 16, 6 were either defective or had a hazy residue beneath the glass.

No problem sir, we will refund you, just send back the merchandise. Sounds good? Not at all! What about the average 25% import taxes I had to pay? What about the return shipping, which is expensive because I am located in South Africa?

To send the items back and receive my refund, I will have to say goodbye to the equivalent of about US$150.00 in shipping and import taxes, which they do not refund! In my currency, a hell of a lot of money!

Where is their quality control? Can a couple of people not be employed to check items before shipping them? A large company like that! I'm sure that they send defective items on purpose, knowing that the customers will not return it because that they will loose money in the process! It is cheaper to have the items repaired than to go through this process!

With the number of items they sell, the number of defective merchandise must be in the thousands each month!

Steer clear of bidz.com!!! They don't give a damn about their customers!

To top it all, their packaging for international shipping sucks!Items are loose in their boxes, falling around and getting damaged and cardboard boxes are almost always squashed. They send incorrect owners manuals as well.

Perhaps worst of all, do they perhaps have accounts with weird usernames that bid on items to ensure that they are not sold for below cost, usually using the autobid feature?? Where else will you find usernames like "selectfall, pushfloor, controljump, throwteach etc.", always made up of two distinct words, meaning virtually nothing together? Check around on other sites, normal people don't use names like that! They use names that mean something to them.

Some good advice - if you don't pick your money from an everlasting tree with unlimited supply, but instead have to work for it, STAY AWAY FROM BIDZ.COM! At some point you probably WILL loose money!

Thanks for reading!

Regards

I was on bidz.com this am and bidded and won {so they said} on an 14k blue diamond ring, but when I went to pay for it I was not allowed to purchase my ring, so I called bidz and was informed that I did not meet the hidden price that they had on the ring, which by the way the customer cannot see! So I ended up losing my ring to the "hidden" price that I was not even aware of!!!!!!!!! DONOT GO TO THIS SITE UNLESS THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU, BE WARNED! P.S. I also talked with the Better Business Bureau and they stated that they have been looking at the company because they have had so many complaimtes on them! BE WARNED!

Most items for sale have a 'reserve' price that must be met before the bid is truly accepted.
Bidz.com on 09/27/2010:
Dear Sibilites,
We would like to begin by apologizing for any inconvenience you may have encountered while using our site. Please be advised that we have various types of auctions available. Those with a reserve and those without a reserve price.
We have 2 types of reserve auctions, one that starts at the minimum reserve and the other that begins at $1 with a hidden minimum.
Our reserve auctions can be identified by looking at the Status of the auction. The ones that have a hidden minimum will display "RESERVE PRICE NOT MET". Once the auction closes you will see that it says “This auction is NOT Sold” if the reserve is not met and the item is then offered to all the auction participants at the reserved price. If the reserve is met, the item is awarded to the highest bidder.
The reserve auctions that begin at the minimum price will display under status “Could Be You”.
All of this information and more can be found by visiting our Help section at: http://www.bidz.com/bzJApp/ViewContent.action?sid=100&tid=100&pageName=index
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our customer service team which is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Read this before considering Buying at Bidz.com

CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA -- Recently I bid and won an item of jewelry at a very low price. When the item arrived it was different than the item described and pictured on the website. I arranged an RMA # to return the item but just before I sent it back the picture on their website of the item I won had been changed to the item I actually received. This concerned me as if you send an item back that is "as described" they charge you a 15% restocking fee and don't pay return postage.
I emailed Bidz to see why the photo changed and if I would get the correct item once returning the wrong item. Bidz either ignored my questions or gave conflicting answers which confused me. I complained on Ripoff Report and then on LABBB and Bidz customer service. Bidz kept saying that I would have to return item before they could investigate and did not properly address my other concerns. As I persisted with the complaint they began to tell untruths about me, I believe this was in an attempt to discredit me with the readers of those websites.

This company's policies and attitude to customers is in my opinion disgraceful and I would not recommend dealing with this company. Their customer service is not only the worst I've ever experienced but they also become very untruthful and unprofessional if things don't go their way. This company in my opinion is BAD NEWS!

Whenever winning bids at eBay, Bidz.com or any auction site you need to print out everything from the auction. Pictures, descriptions, terms, the works, everything. In today's world of everbody getting ripped off it's a sad way to have to do business or protect your self but it's just the way things are now. So many companies will screw over the customer in a heartbeat because it's all about the money now.
Aussie Shopper on 09/20/2007:
Thank you for the good advice but in this case I had all the printouts plus I have the transcripts of all Live Help Chat sessions that prove I was very polite to the Bidz staff. Unfortunately it just isn't worth the effort to take legal action especially as I am an overseas customer of Bidz and my actual identity was not revealed by Bidz. I have heard from other reports that when items are won at very low prices, Bidz commonly say the item is out of stock or send the wrong item and only refund your money. I think that what might have happened to me as they still haven't given a reason the item is out of stock or why the photo was changed on the website after I advised the wrong item was received.
Butternut on 03/16/2011:
Aussie, they have very little quality items left and if it's worth anything, it's on reserve price. Their last quarterly report came out on March 11 and they suffered another big loss, folks are dumping their stocks like mad. They are no longer able to acquire anything but cheap junk jewelry, hence the added clothing lines. The only things left worth anything are Calgaro and Zoccai styles from a few years back and outdated sunglasses. I think they are going BUST. If they can't bring in decent pieces, they won't make it on the plastic, mystery metal junk that has swallowed that site.

We are setting up our own home party company and buying merchandise from this auction site. The merchandise is setting here until the parties. Upon having customers "try on" watches, have found that bands fall apart. E-mailed Bidz and told them what happened. They say if it is less than 30 days when bought send back (I PAY SHIPPING) and they will refund. If more than 30 days, OH WELL......Why should I have to inspect THOROUGHLY every item I receive and why should I have to PAY SHIPPING to return their defective merchandise. Have bought a total of 32 watches so far and 9 are defective. Beware if shopping on Bidz.com. Thank You!

I absolutely, positively, REFUSE to purchase anything through a catalog or on the Internet if they tack on 'S&H.' I made one exception about 6 years ago. A software program I wanted to purchase cost $599 + the 6% state sales tax at a brick and mortar. The identical program on the Internet was a total of $419, which included S&H with no sales tax. I especially chuckle at the TV commercials which tout 'if you call within the next ?? minutes, we'll include another (insert product name here) at no additional cost. Simply pay shipping & handling.' The S&H is usually more than what the product is worth!

I agree, I bought two watches from Bidz.com. The one came with no form of closure.

I recently had a bad experience with this company who sent the wrong item, asked for it back so they could refund or possibly send the correct item. Before returning item I noticed that they changed the picture of the item I ordered to the one I received. This could then mean that if I sent back they could possibly have said the item was as pictured and charge 15% restocking fee etc. Tried to clarify the situation to see if worthwhile sending back but given the 'run around'. This company is bad news.

I have bought a few watches from Bidz.com and the ones with a retail compare price have been good buys. I am very happy with the 5 ESQ Swiss and the Sector and the Moschino and Aquaswiss watches that I have purchased for a great deal. Around 30% retail. All arrived in perfect condition and brand new in the original boxes and with internatinal warranty cards. However, all the watches I purchased without a compare price were complete junk. Stay away from any watches without a retail compare price they are like plastic coated in aluminum foil for the most part. Stay away from ICE, ICE Extreme, parisian, MN, Marc Naimer, etc. Even winning some for a dollar I still paid more than the retail price when you factor in trans fee, shipping, taxes etc. The watch bands feel more like cheap plastic vinyl than the leather stated in the auction listing. If considering purchasing a watch off bidz go to the company website. I did this with the aquaswiss, ESQ Swiss, sector, and jules jorgensen. Do a google search for any watches you are considering buying and spell the name exactly as on the bidz auction lising. If the search comes back with a spelling correction it is a fake. My 3 cents.

?? Reputation for Bad Customer Service
Posted by on
CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA -- I am a relatively new user of Bidz.com, an online auction site. Thus far, I have only purchased jewelry and for the most part have been satisfied. Last week I won a bid on a ring for a very reasonable price. When I went to pay, I received a message that the item was unavailable. Being new, I wrote to customer service asking if this meant that the item was just currently unavailable, but I would receive it later or if it meant that the item was permanently unavailable. At the same time, they were currently offering the same item up for bid. So, I also asked that if it was unavailable, why was it offered in the first place and why is it still being offered. I have sent 3 e-mails to customer service so far and have yet to hear a word from them. I realize that I am not out any money and compared to other on-line auction nightmares, this is really trivial. Specifically, I am wondering if they have a reputation for poor customer service and not acknowledging e-mails. If this is the case, then I do not want to do business with them and I will not make any more purchases. Also if there is a pattern of poor service, then others should be warned.

Sorry to hear of another person duped by the tactics employed at Bidz.com. If you keep buying on that site, you can expect more of that and worse. Terrible site performance, glitches, horrid customer service, inflated valuations of extremely low-quality merchandise, Bogus grading and valuation certificates.....the list goes on and on. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else to shop online.

You are so right, my sister and I have been fighting with them on the watch problem and, when they do answer, the answer is not what will take care of the problem......will NOT be shopping with them again. Spent over $1,000 in two months on watches and now have to pay for a jeweler to try to fix them. Good luck!

This company is bad news. I recently had a problem and when I complained and got nowhere I posted a complaint with LABBB and Ripoff Report. Lynne Berry of their customer service section must have got fed up with me not giving in on my complaint since she posted outright lies about my treatment of Bidz staff in an attempt to discredit me with other readers of the site.

Their customer service is virtually non existent if anything out of the ordinary occurs.

I actually was thinking of bidding on the Bidz.com site but being smarter than a box of hammers, decided to investigate possible complaints about the company. After reading complaint after complaint, I visited the LA BBB site and found that Bidz has an F rating, the lowest they could have gotten. This company is obviously to be avoided. The old addage is, once again proven to be true; "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is". Thanks to those of you who took the time to post. Saved me some time, aggravation, and possibly, some money. Go Denver Broncos, win state.

That happened to me once too at Bidz. I got a great deal and 'won' the item only to be told it was unavailble. I then saw the same item put up again and again at reserved price, which turned out to be very high. I guess they changed their mind after I got the Calgaro necklace cheap, and changed the rules midstream. Maybe someone forgot to make it a reserved price bid, but that wasn't MY fault.

I have placed an order yesterday and I tried to keying my voucher was offered by Bidz it would not go through so I stayed up all night till call centre start work all I was told by the customer service staff will send an email to the department would handle your problem I wasn't told in how long will get back to me or anything all I was told someone from the department will email you I asked how long she said will email you or contact you. I know deeply no one will contact me because it happened in the past I was told the same thing but no contact. I have made a promise once I solve this problem I will not go to their sight ever again or purchase anything. I'm waiting on an order for the last 3 weeks and yet still waiting when it promised within the 5 working business days.

July 4, 2013. I tried to sign in to my account, but to no avail. After logging in I could purchase a few things and I had to log in again, again, etc.
I interested one auction, although it has been logged, not able to make bids, the auction finally ended, and item has not been sold.
Today, on the chat, made an offer to buy.
I was surprised
