try contacting your local DA or an attorney.

Hi, I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau In the greater Mid-Atlantic region: Metro Washington DC
and Eastern Pennsylvania. Be sure to file a complaint in the state/city that your bank rsides in. Also, go to http://www.helpwithmybank.gov/ I will be filing charges on E-Trade at this site also. I hope this helps. I've been ripped off too. AngelInTexas

I also had my funds frozen my Etrade. They said it was because someone opened a brokerage account with them in my name. I think Etrade is just trying to prevent people from taking out their money. Etrade does not want to loose all those funds. Unfortunately I do not have any advise except to contact as many newspapers and financial magazines with your story. Maybe if Etrade gets enough bad publicity they will resease our funds. Hopfully I will get it back before my son goes to college next year.

Telling your bank or stock broker you want to close your account is the last thing you should do. Use your ATM to withdraw the maximum allowed each day until your account is empty, then close it verbally. Do the same with your money market account drawing out several smaller payments to achieve the desired effect.
