C & D Are Rude And Incompetent

Through our homeowner's warranty company, C & D Appliance Service was contracted to repair two items in our home. The microwave oven, and our regular oven.

On March 23, 2010, Chuck came to our home. He seemed kind and knowledgeable. He identified the issues, and accepted my check for $65. He said he would call the next day with an update on when the parts would be in. This was the first of many, many calls that would never come.

Several times I was told that the part would arrive "next week" and that he would call me back to confirm that. The follow-up calls never came. After four full months of waiting, I called yet again. This time it was a woman on the line.

I was very careful to never raise my voice or use foul language in dealing with her. I don't believe you'll attract flies with vinegar. Never once did she or Chuck offer an apology for the extreme delay in service, or the poor job of keeping us in the loop with what was going on. Instead, she mockingly said "what do you want me to do, call you morning noon and night? I have over 46 customers I have to deal with." I replied that she didn't need to call me morning noon and night, she need only call me when she had assured me she would.

Then she said she was going to call my homeowner's warranty company and refuse to do my service. I stated that with them likely being a big client, she might want to reconsider how she was handling the situation. Then, she hung up on me.

I called the homeowner warranty company to alert them to the fact that I had been treated so poorly and that the work was still undone. That's when the real surprise came. It is my understanding that C & D Appliance Service informed my warranty company that the work was already completed. I can only assume that means that they had, in fact, received payment for work that had never happened.

I don't fault any company who has to wait for parts from overseas (if that's the case). What I do have a problem with, is the abusive nature with which my family and I have had to deal.
