Beware of this company!!!!!

WEST HAVEN, UTAH -- If you are in the market for a new home, if you like being lied too, if you like sub-standard work, then Castle creek Homes is the place to go.

If you are looking for quality work at a good price and in a reasonable amount of time, go some place else.

We were told by this company that we would have our home build in 4 to 5 months, it took 11 months and 3 weeks before we could move in.
They told us about the great quality of their work and the warranty for their work. The bricks in the front of house have falled down no less than 12 times. Then the warranty guy tells us they don't know how to keep then from falling. They have other houses doing the same. The doors leading to the laundry have falled several times. They did not complete the installation of the insulation in the home. The slab is cracking. The towel rack in the master bath has fallen off the wall. The paint on the front door is pealing. The covering on the fondation is craking and falling off. The back door is pulling away from the fame. I could go on and on. I would not have a problem with this company if they would just do what they say they will do.
We have many items wrong with the house, the warranty guys says he will come and fix but never shows up. That's all we get, empty promises.
My advise, stay away from this company if you are in Utah.

Fell down.................

Most building projects have a one year warranty period from the date of final completion. The warranty guy could be stalling to avoid having to correct the work until after the warranty period expires. I would NOT wait this one out... set a fire under their butts! Keep a detailed log of all your contact with the builder/warranty guy. You ought to consider consulting an attorney as well.
moneybags on 08/06/2007:
Contact the district attorney, the attorney general and even your local Home Builders Assn. File suit immediately to protect your rights and credit score. Contact your mortgage company and ask about any assistance thyey might be able to give (worth a try.) Take pictures of all defects at once!

And, if there's a local television station in your area that reports on consumer affairs, contact them. Also, take the advice of mango and money, as it is good information, and may be necessary to prove your case in the future.

Thanks for your reply to this situation. We have documented our progress. We have lots and lots of pictures. We have a two ywear warranty, so I think they will get pretty tired of me before that is up. And I have contacted two TV stations. We will see if they reply.

We bought our Castle Creek Home a few years ago, and while we don't have all the same problems you mentioned, we have similar issues. My paint is coming off our doors, too. We were told that the painters used indoor paint for the outside trim around the doors. Our cement is also falling off the house --- plus the foundation is cracking. I would never, nor could I ever recommend Castle Creek Homes to anyone. It's been nothing but an infuriating disaster. Mike Schultz should be ashamed of himself for selling subpar craftmanship.
HomeOwner2 on 05/28/2011:
HomeDisaster2, how many years have you been in the house? Is the paint coming off of inside doors, or outside doors? Is water seeping in through the foundation? Are there any other problems that you've started having?

Thanks for posting!

yes another one castle creek home along with Schultz and all his backstreet boys looking agents should be run out of business. this bunch of dishonest individuals should not be aloud to callthemselfs realestate agents. now for the crappy building our house was 2 months behind paid for numerous addendums that didn't get followed or done have asted. to not following the blueprints and taking money for empty promisses. and as far as workman ship I don't think I ever saw the so called foreman once but paid for his lack of services, I don't think anyone had a contractors lincense because they could not speak English so it would be hard to have a contactor lincenses. some of his sub s are THEIFS and drunks.STAY CLEAR OF THESE JOKERS. anyone that wants to get together and and sue these clowns just post.

My husband and I are seriouly considering buying a CC home, but after this it's scares me a little. I'd say contact BBB because that was the first place we looked for ratings.

I'm reading over these comment and wondering to myself if you are all talking about the same company that we built with? My husband and I have built 2 Castle Creek Homes over the past 8 years and have not run into these types of problems. We recommend Castle Creek Homes to all of our friends that are looking to build a home. With all that they offer as standard features I honestly don't know why you would want to build with anyone else. We have had some warranty issues but all of them have been fixed in a timely manner and we are very happy customers. our agent and foreman were top notch and took care of any of the stumbling blocks we encountered. I'm not here to say we didn't encounter any bumps along the road but we are very happy and pleased not only with our home but with Castle Creek Homes as a builder.
Homeowner7777 on 10/21/2013:
Same thing here. I watched the build from day one and honestly wish I hadn't.
DislikeCC on 01/24/2014:
Building a home with Castle Creek is one of the worst experiences I have had in my life. Building/buying a home is already a stressful time in life, but every step of the process with Castle Creek amplified was much worse than I anticipated. Their communication is terrible. I would say 85% of our attempts to contact them either resulted in no response, or a delayed response (days or a week later) with only half of our questions answered. I would not recommend at all.
CastleCreek Reviewer on 01/27/2014:
I have had a horrid experience with this builder. They do not care about there clients and only have their interests in mind. They are difficult to work with and their agent representing them treated me with total disrespect. The positive review above from February 2013 sounds like it came from the builder and not an actual buyer. Watch out they are out to screw you over!
Judy on 02/27/2014:
I am so sorry for all your horrible experiences and I appreciate you posting about them. I am looking for a new home and WAS considering one of their house plans, but I absolutely will not work with such people on the most costly investment in my life. And I'm sure I will find a contractor that won't cause me that kind of stress. Also - another person that should be contacted regarding Castle Creek's horrible craftmanship and construction is the City Building Inspector

ROY, UTAH -- In our contract it stated that they would put the front yard in that was signed by the both of us. When we went to hold them accountable for that, they told us that we already got a really good deal on the house and they weren't going to put in the front yard. Good deal or not, they need to follow through, especially since it was in their contract that they had us sign. I would definitely not buy another home from them, or recommend them to anyone.
