What Good Is Your Insurance?

My third son ** died suddenly on April 23, 2009 from a seizure in his sleep. My oldest son, a poor dental student in Florida, wanted to get home as soon as possible to be of support to his family. He made arrangements to come home leaving the very next day on April 24, 2009.

At that time funeral arrangements had not been confirmed because there were a lot of family members traveling and we hadn't gotten in touch with everyone yet. He guessed that the following Tuesday might work for his return flight but bought insurance in case he would have to change his return flight arrangements. As it turned out we ended up having to plan the funeral for Tuesday because a large group of people were traveling by car.

When my son called to change his flight home he was told that the insurance would not be helpful in his case because he knew his brother had died before he left. What? There was no sympathy for this situation and no reasoning that funeral arrangements could not be confirmed immediately at the time of ** death. His insurance was useless. He ended up having to buy a whole new ticket to return to Florida. What a scam! I'm very disappointed in this company's policy and would highly recommend using another agency.

Sucks, Sucks, SUCKS!!

I apologize if I couldn't come up with better interjections, but that pretty much sums up my experience with cheaptickets.com so far. I purchased my ticket to Madrid (airline was Air Comet Plus) way back in January. I had to hear from my sister, who was going on the trip also, that Air Comet will no longer have flights between JFK and MAD. Now why didn't I get an email about this change in my flight like my sister did? Perhaps this was a sign of more bad things to come.

So we scrambled to buy tickets in May, hoping that we would be able to find reasonably priced tickets for our trip in July. Luckily, we were able to find tickets that were around the same rate. (I have to say I really like the service of Aer Lingus! But that is another story.

So, my sisters and I have been calling since May about our refund. I've been calling for THREE months now!! Keep in mind, each time I called the wait time was ridiculous! I had to wait for a representative, then have to wait to be transferred to the refund department, then wait again to speak to a supervisor. Each time I called I had to go through this process over and over again! I am a very patient person (when one is a teacher one has to be patient), but heck!!! I am at my boiling point!!! I will never order from cheaptickets again!!

Worst Experience in Customer Service

WASHINGTON DC, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- We booked a flight from Eastern US to Germany on their site. Got confirmation a few moments later- next day we get email and says that "your flight could not be recorded and your reservation has been cancelled. Your credit card will not be charged. Please rebook online at..." Two days later our card was charged and after waiting a total of 3 hours on hold, disconnect on transfer, etc., finally got a human being. All communication had to be by long distance fax (even though they communicate via email)?

Finally got call back from Sr. Supervisor- said we double booked within a minute and it's our fault. I asked how their slow system could enable this to happen in under a minute, and he had no answer and told me to just eat the cost of the $1420 tickets or pay the $500 to cancel. Blame the customer first. Real reason: they don't want to pay United's cancel fee of $500 for 2 tickets. I asked for proof- "sorry I can't do that".

Terrible Online Service, and Horrible Customer Service

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- I purchased an international ticket from CheapTickets two month in advance, and paid extra to request a paper ticket. Since it is international travel, I did not want to take my chance with electronic tickets, and since I paid for my paper ticket, I would assume I would receive them.

A week before my trip I still have not received the ticket in the mail, although when purchased it promised to deliver the paper ticket within a week. I searched for a customer service number to get an explanation, and after a long waiting period with an automated system, I was finally talking to person after person who didn't know how to handle the situation. While I waited on the line for half an hour, I was told that an investigation was necessary and that I would be called back. Customer service are not helpful, and don't seem to know what they are doing at all.

Cheaptickets "Hidden" Phone Number

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- The Hawaii area code number that appears in most searches for Cheaptickets is disconnected and has been so for quite some time. They go through great pains to hide their current number within the small print of their extremely long privacy statement. Their number is 888-922-8849. I just tried it.

VIRGINIA -- The site says it has lots of tickets available a a certain price but when you select any of them, it says, "sorry, no longer available at that price; the new price availability is $**" which is $700 higher. Beware of this site! It is a scam!

As we know everybody can't be pleased. I've been purchasing my airline tickets with cheaptickets for many years; not that I purposely pick them as my search engine, just that every time I "click" for the fare, happens to be the best (cheapest) online. Lucky me!!!

The worst company. I had the tickets on airport and they didn't bought the tickets and they said to schedule for another day!!! Worst worst worst!!!

Do Not Use This Service

We booked a roundtrip flight using Cheaptickets.com. Our complaints are simple: We did not receive any notification of a cancelled flight, and were not confirmed on a return flight. This caused a ton of headaches and their customer service is simply not reachable. We do not recommend using this service at all.

Problem with cheap tickets

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO -- I purchased two tickets from Cheaptickets and they did not confirm one of the tickets. They admitted the mistake on December, 2006 and was supposed to refund me my money back. So I purchased two more tickets while waiting for the refund. I have called them numerous times and just get the runaround. It is the end of April of 2007 and I still did not receive my money back. They are not being helpful and do not care that I am paying interest on the $4592.00.
