Bought a four pack of solid white tuna. Opened and it looked like mush and the fish smell was overpowering.

I had some in a salad, but my husband refused to eat it in a sandwich because of the smell..I called the tuna council and Chicken of the sea but only got to leave messages.
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- Not once, not twice, but all too often, the Chicken Of The Sea solid white tuna is pure mush. All it's good for is a tuna sandwich mixed with mayo. cannot use it for salads or for just the solid tuna people purchase it for. I have bought my last can of Chicken Of The Sea. Onto other brands. Frankly, the most solidly consistent solid tuna I have found is believe it or not, Shop Rite brand.

And now that Chicken Of The Sea has removed a phone number where they can be reached, they have really lost me. Do they think people are going to waste more money, a 45 cent stamp and more time on their sub-par product? They are "plenty of other fish in the sea".
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- Upon opening the can chicken of the sea crab meat I couldn't believe my eyes, someone or something must have regurgitated into the can. Not only was the appearance unappetizing but the tiny bit I reluctantly tried was crunchy with either sand or bits of shell. Forget the taste, I didn't even go that far! Another important complaint, had I seen the product was from Thailand I would not have purchased it, from mow on I'll be more diligent nor will I buy any product from this company again.2 Replies - Latest reply on 02/09/2012Add reply

Chicken of the Sea use to be #1, but is now at the bottom of my list. The tuna use to be flakey and now you get mush (more like by products). What has happened? I will no longer purchase Chicken of the Sea. The generic products are now better. The last four cans of Chicken of the Sea went into the trash. I almost gagged when I opened the cans. 5 Replies - Latest reply on 01/03/2010Add reply
Large bones in Tuna
I found a bone in my tuna, more that half the size of my thumb. The company asked me to send it to them so they could see it. I did. They told me they would return it but smashed it instead. It was ... read full review33 Replies - Latest reply on 02/03/2010
I have been buying for Chicken of the Sea for twenty plus years and always the Solid White Albacore brand. Lately the cans have had nothing solid in them and are closer to the brown side then white. It is clearly not the product that used to greet me when I opened the can. In the past I could remove the tuna with a fork, now I need to pass it through a strainer. I am totally disappointed with their decision to down grade their product. I will be buying another brand in the future.3 Replies - Latest reply on 09/21/2009Add reply
Two cans of Chicken of the Sea 'Solid White Albacore' in water were NOT solid white.

It was the cheap flaky, soggy fishy-tasting pink stuff sold as their cheaper brand. Ripped off!
Even the cat won't eat it.

I am very dissatisfied in your product. I will never buy watered down tuna any more. The price continues to go up and the amount of product goes down. I'm also writing for many of my family and friends. We all have been very disappointed. 3 Replies - Latest reply on 01/16/2009Add reply
I agree with another writer. Purchased a multi can pack of chunk light tuna and it is so watery that it cannot be strained without losing the tuna that is there (my cats like it- their tuna juice is a lot chunkier). Tuna fish salad for sandwiches comes out like tuna soup with celery and onion. Tuna casserole, the entire can went in, forget straining it.

Whatever process they are using now for packing the cans is not working for those of us who eat tuna on a regular basis.
I purchased two cans of albacore tuna from my local grocery store. When I opened the cans, one was practically empty...mostly water and a thin layer of tuna on the bottom!!! The other can was pretty much full but watery. 5 Replies - Latest reply on 12/15/2008Add reply
AUGUSTA, MAINE -- Today I used the second can of Van Camp's Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light Tuna that I had in my cupboard. When I opened the can it looked like slivers of tuna floating around in broth. I couldn't even squeeze all the water out of the can because the mushy tuna wanted to squeeze out with it. Adding mayonnaise made the tuna even more wet, making it the consistency of soup. My complaint is (actually it's more like a question)-How can a company say it's chunk light tuna when it's really not? I think this company should go back in time and use whatever old processing that really was chunk light.

I remember that time and I was pleased with the chunk light tuna that really did have chunks of tuna in it. I've always thought of Chicken of the Sea as a top-notch company. I'm very disappointed.
Bad Tuna, Coward Company
The product is chicken of the sea chunk white alacore. This is some kind of tuna that is floating in a can of gelatiny glop. Awful to look at let alone eat. The can does not state where this fish came ... read full review13 Replies - Latest reply on 07/01/2013
