Poor Service/Poor Quality
Posted by on
On Sunday July 10, 2011 I pulled in the Church's Chicken drive through. After being in line for about 5 minutes, the car in front of me pulled off. Next, I continued to wait for approximately another 5-8 minutes when I was then asked to come inside. Upon entering, I was asked if I had placed my order and I then stated that I had been in line in the drive through. All I got was a quick sorry for the wait. There was a mix up on getting a larger size and pricing. My strawberry lemonade drink had not 1 drop of ice in it, and there was a mix up on the size of the large. The cashier stated that she had been out for 2 weeks and had just come back and was new to the new sizing. There was no customer service, or courtesy offered for all of the inconsistencies and inconveniences. I have never been so shocked as well as ill treated. I frequent the chain at least 1 - 2 times weekly.

The store located in Greensboro, NC on Randleman Rd. is great and this store definitely needs to take some lessons from them.

How were you ill treated? The cashier gave you a very reasonable explanation for the mix-up and delay, but you thought it was shocking. What more could she have done? What exactly did you expect her to do? Seriously, I would like to know.
ktisnumeroUNO on 2011-07-11:
I'm going to have to agree with Venice. I'm having a hard time understanding how you were "ill treated". Sure this may have been an inconvenient experience but they did apologize, whether you felt it was good enough or not. There was not much else they could do.. that is unless you were expecting them to hand you a bag of free food?

Man I hate it when employees start whining out excuses for their failure to properly execute their duties. The chicken twit says, "been out for 2 weeks and had just come back and was new to the new sizing". My response would be, “ Wah wah wah. Not my problem chicken lady”. Geeze, if anything it makes the store look even worse. What kind of manager puts an employee facing the public who doesn't know how to perform the job? Sad, sad, sad state of affairs at this Churches chicken.

Outstanding review.
PepperElf on 2011-07-11:
man I hate when people start name-calling on employees.

I know when I've been away from work for 3 days it takes me a little bit to get back in the grove. I'd hate to have someone go off on me for not being 100% perfect, or call me names or assume that I was stupid over it.

Store manager not helping to get the line down
Posted by on
JONESBORO, GEORGIA -- I was in line in the lobby. It was a long line and it was only one person on front counter its my neighborhood store so I know who the manager is. She is always outside smoking. the line was long because the cook wasn't told to drop any more chiken because the store manager was outside. then as I'm in line. she comes in yelling cause their wasn't any chicken and people had to wait for it to be cooked so that tells you about how long store manager was outside then when she comes in I never saw her wash her hands then she constantly coughs and don't even cover her mouth I guess she feels she don't have to because she is the store manager while your in line for so long you tend to notice things that you wouldn't normally notice

Management should have resolved this problem before she went on break, by simply telling the cook to cook 3 dark stoves and one mix stove, chicken cooks for 15 minutes but has a holding time of 45 minutes, everyone should have gotten a coutesy drink if they wanted to wait and a sincere apology.

Rude Employees
Posted by on
ORANGE, TEXAS -- This afternoon my husband stopped at Church's Fried Chicken to order some chicken for supper. He doesn't like to go to Church's but that is the only fried chicken restaurant in our small town. He was treated so badly as usual. The employees have this don't care attitude. Others that have gone there have reported to us the same thing, saying that they (the employees) just don't care if you order or not, or if you get what you ordered. Church's won't be getting any more of our business. We will look for a grocery store that sells fried chicken, and the employees are very friendly.

Also the chicken is fried just a bit too long, it is not a golden brown, but a bit dark.

Orange, TX. Great town, great people.... except one's at Churches. lol! Maybe they reside in LA.

this store will be in trouble if they don't put customer service first.
HughesXpress2004 on 2013-06-02:
perhaps it is the Church's Chicken stores in these southern states where all these bad experiences are taking place, because it is not like that in other stores out west. I think all the owners of these southern franchises are promoting racism and discrimination against blacks, for some apparent reason or another.

Bad Service

FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- I have ordering Church's Chicken for a very long time but the Church's Chicken in FORT WORTH is awful. Every time I go there the order is wrong or most of the time they don't have chicken ready. I ordered WHITE meat, I got dark, I order mixed, I get dark plus the bread is never with the order. I went Jan. 25th '08 ordered dark meat the lady said it would 15 min. Other people came in, she gave other people that came in after my husband and I their order before ours. My husband ask her why we did not get our order, he told her it had been 15 min. She said it had not and we have to Waite 10 more min. Plus she was going to put all legs and old chicken that had been there. My husband told her we never get our bread with our order could she put extra bread because they never put the bread in our order, she said NO! He told her he wanted his money back for the bread or the bread, she talked to her manager {he would talk to my husband} so he gave us the money back, why couldn't she put the bread in if she could give the money back? We waited 30min. for the chicken and the people that were there before us where still waiting when we where leaving. each time I have been there they NEVER have enough chicken cooked.

I have worked in the food business a long time, these people just don't care! It is the manager that should see they are trained to do the job! The store # 205 in FORT WORTH, How would you feel when you get home and what you ask for is not there? And the floor had grease on it someone is going to fall. The place is not very clean. I just bet you would not be happy if you order at the same place! IT IS JUST NOT RIGHT!!!!!!!!

Mark them off your list. Move on. They obviously do not appreciate your business. I'm willing to bet there are several chicken places in a city the size of Fort Worth.

Why eat their food and spend your money there? Ft. Worth has some fantastic places to eat! And if it's so dirty, call the Dept. of Health!

Ponie on 2008-01-28:
It's too bad that Ft. Worth is such a small(?) city that they have only one Church's location. Looks as though jktshff1 found a few for you.

Church's is one of a very few fast food joints I don't go to. Maybe they've changed in the 3-4 years since I've been in one, but I found they served old chicken. Not old in that it's been setting around for a while. Old--in years. I'd always found fat from the chicken (not the frying compound) under the skin and the meat was tough. Possibly I should give them a try to see if they've changed the age of the chicken they use.

Not Satisfied With the Meal

FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO -- On Jan 24, 2014 around 15:37 I drove 80 miles to Farmington, N.M. and decided to eat at many choices, but I choose Churches Chicken, but the meal was not appealing. The chicken was not fresh, FF was COLD and Jalapeno was soggy. My order # is 0210/0209.
I immediately asked the cashier (Louisa) and she indicated "Sorry - that what we have" and closed the window.

I was not satisfied with Customer Services and the meal.

After pointing out this fact to the employees they got an attitude like so what . The female manager showed no concern about I was saying, but as I was leaving I seen that same manager taking two boxes of chicken out to her families car.

Place Was Dirty And They Had No Chicken Ready

KIRBY, TEXAS -- We went to get chicken for dinner and they had no chicken ready, they were out of chicken. The girl said they had to do the drive through first and my wait was 30 minutes. We went to another one on Rittiman Road in San Antonio, TX, the same thing happened they were out of CHICKEN, we had to wait 15 minutes. I was very disappointed with Churches. That will be the last time will go there.

Also they were out of sodas. Can you imagine that.

Fried chicken takes some time to cook thoroughly. In our area, chicken places often get slammed at times that might not be predictable.

Right before Packer games--have a lot of chicken ready. After church on Sunday--have a lot of chicken ready.

This evening at 5:00--not predictable.

Are you able to call in ahead of time, so that your order would be ready when you arrive? That might be an option.
JoeKay on 2013-08-06:
I'd rather wait a few minutes (I waited 10 minutes yesterday) for Church's then get the diddly little pieces they give ya at KFC, slathered in MSG no less, consisting of skin and bones for way more. 10 pc leg and thigh plus a large side for $9 and its great, even reheated (meaning the oil was fresh). No I don't work at Church's but I do count pennies. Try the Church's in Roseville, MI. It'd be worth the ride.

My local one (Roseville MI, in a White Castle) is like that. BUT, hands down, the best fried chicken anywhere. Large pieces, done right, less costly than KFC, and good sides. Way worth waiting a few minutes for!

Church's Chicken in Palestine, TX has roach problem and I have video
Posted by on
PALESTINE, TX -- Church's Chicken in Palestine, TX has a roach problemm that I have on video and posted online. Church's accused me of fabricating the video and eventually ignored it. As a result, I built a website about the entire situation at http://www.churchssucks.com and also includes a 15 minute interview with the store manager that is rather humorous. So enjoy!

Grease is flavor's super-highway.

Wally, what about if the greasy chicken is later encrusted in roaches. Couldn't that add crunchiness?

No Chicken
Posted by on
GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI -- This is a Saturday morning in April and more important it 11:00am time for chicken. I pull up to the speaker and I'm notified immediately that they don't have any chicken! How do you run a chicken place with no chicken? Pissed off I drove away hungry and mad.

Probably would have been appropriate to ask what happened. There MIGHT be a reason that was unforeseeable and beyond anyone's reasonable control. Could be the delivery truck was involved in an accident.

Now I'm mad because I don't know WHY they had no chicken. See what you caused? Stress in MY life. If only you had asked why.
Anonymous on 2011-04-09:
Why even stay open if you have no chicken? Its like the Arbys I went to before, had no roast beef. I asked them why even bother staying open when 80% of the people coming in are going to want roast beef? The Church's chicken near me closed down. Go figure. Good review.
Mrs.Cole on 2011-04-09:
Should I call them and ask WHY NO CHICKEN???!!!... This is Mrs.Cole from Washington, I'd like to know, WHY NO CHICKEN?

That would leave them scratching their head.
Anonymous on 2011-04-09:
Maybe they were cooking all the chicken in preparation of the lunch crowd. Did you even ask if they were making any?
Anonymous on 2011-04-09:
If your a chicken joint and you run out of chicken then they should have a sign up saying they are out. I eat at churches and kfc least once a week they never have run out of chicken.
Anonymous on 2011-04-09:
Yes but wally, at some point, I'm sure they have to cook more chicken. I've been to KFC before and had to wait for more chicken to be cooked.
Anonymous on 2011-04-09:
Well the op did not mention that they said to wait sounds like they were out period like none in stock.
madconsumer on 2011-04-09:
I wonder if the freezer failed and they had to toss out the chicken. better to have no chicken than serve spoiled chicken.
Anonymous on 2011-04-09:
I don't think the OP waited to see if there would be more chicken. Or even asked why they were out
Anonymous on 2011-04-09:
If they were completely out, for whatever reason, I think they should have just closed shop until they were ready with chicken. After all, it is a chicken joint! At the very least, they could post a sign giving a general idea of when chicken would be available.

sorry but this is a half hijack of the thread; I worked at staples for a year, and no joke, at that store, we ran out staples. I can't even remember why. It was embarrassing.
Cwazychicken on 2011-04-10:
Yea but so early in the day to run out...If it was 11pm I would understand. But some places do run out of things. I went to wendys once, ran out of baked potatoes and frosty's lol...was during the day. Have ordered Pizza Hut and they ran out of breadstick dough and medium pizza dough before. I was like "so what can I order then?" They basically just said large pizza, which I never understood til my brother told me that they have certain dough for breadsticks and certain dough for the pizza. If they are extremely busy, I can see it happening but most places will tell you to wait for it. If it was a situation where there wasn't going to be any the rest of the day, well that would just stink.
Skye on 2011-04-10:
Did you ask if they were going to prepare more, or were they completely sold out for the day? It would not have hurt to ask a few quetions before driving off, but that's just me.

I've had Church's chicken back when I lived in NY, and it was the BEST chicken till this day I ever had. I totally understandy your disappointment that they did not have any at the moment you drove up to order.
