Circuit City Scam
Yes the brick and mortar Circuit City is out of business. The internet site is alive and well with excellent pricing and no hassle 30 day returns. They had the best price on a Samsung 23 inch LED monitor ... read full review14 Replies - Latest reply on 08/01/2011
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA -- I purchased a LCD T. V (1,645.00)on the 27 Feb 09. When I got home discovered the screen had a spider web crack in it and horizontal lines. I was told that I needed to contact Samsung regarding this matter. Samsung sent a repair person out from Precision T. V today 9 March 09. I was informed the warranty does not cover the repair, and it would cost me 1,000.00 more to repair my T.V. I went back to Circuit City on the 28 Feb 09.

I purchased what was supposed to be a new Model 890 Harmony remote, but after going through the computer set-up program, I got a message that the remote had been reported as defective and replaced by harmony. I returned the bogus remote to Circuit City was told that ALL sales were final! Some smug little twerp of an acting manager even acted like I was trying to pull something over on the crooks. I called the number he gave me as their complaint department and was treated to the most complete runaround possible and ended up never getting to talk to anyone.

My advice... don't trust anything at that rip-off, justifiably defunct dirt bag of a store. Sooner they are history the better.
Do not waste your time or money shopping at this establishment. Their bankrupt for a reason. From the top down to the 7 dollar an hour employee. Do not assist them in their finance. I know things. God be them for their actions in selling their garbage to the public. 3 Replies - Latest reply on 02/24/2009Add reply

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- These guys seem to go out of their way to ignore customers. And when I walked out the door, I could hear the sales clerks make fun of me for walking to the wrong side of a sliding glass door that only opens on one side. Never mind that it has no signs to tell you which side to go to--that sort of behavior would get you fired at any respectable establishment.

With that kind of customer service and company culture, it is no wonder they are going bankrupt.
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA -- I went to the liquidation sale in Richmond, VA. I thought maybe they would have a deal on a USB cable I needed for my printer/fax machine.

First there were no price tags on the cables just a sign saying 30% off. Well since I know that a cable runs for $30 at Best Buy I figured it must be cheaper than that.
Then I carried to the register and found out the truth. The cashier rang up the cable and said that my total was $42. I left that at the counter and walked out.
Their sale price was 25% higher than Best Buy's price. Do not shop at Circuit City. Please wait until prices fall way below retail, otherwise you are going to be stuck with an overpriced product that you can't return. Even if it is 5% or 10% cheaper than Best Buy do not buy it at Circuit City because without any good warranties you have no true recourse if it breaks or if it is damaged when you take it out the box.
Don't fall for the banana in the tail pipe.

WILTON MANORS, FLORIDA -- I purchased a Samsung Camera from Circuit City in July and purchased the warranty because I had bad experiences before with digital cameras. Anyway, the camera broke within two weeks of getting it. After waiting 5 weeks for their so called repair, they gave me a new camera which also broke a week later. They told me that even though I had a 2 year warranty that it wasn't good enough because it didn't cover accidental damage. I said we didn't do anything to the camera and I was told that my warranty covered everything. They told me there was nothing they could do for me. And they wonder why they're going out of business. Now my mom wants me to purchase a laptop from them but I don't want to give them another dime. Cause when they close their doors, I'll really be jacked.

I think they should be penalized for all the people they have lied to with false advertisement and information.
That sale is a joke. Went looking for deals on computer hardware. Even with 10% off of the price of the hard drive that I wanted, it was still $15 cheaper across the street at Best Buy. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 01/20/2009Add reply
