Citicard Has Horrible Customer Service - Call 1800-772-0743 and You'll Find Out!
By -

KANSAS, MISSOURI -- I called Citicard to request a copy of my Form 1099-C for tax purposes. When I finally got ahold of the right department, I was treated very, very badly by the customer service agent who took my initial call. I requested a copy of the Form 1099-C; I was informed that it had been sent out last 01/31/08. I asked if she could send another copy because I had moved to another state and I had not been getting any of my mails from my old address for the last few months. She then said, "well, if you don't get it, call the IRS and get a copy from them."

I asked why can't Citicard just send me another copy. She said she won't do it because they had sent out the form 5 days ago. Supposedly, they do not send out duplicate notices. When I commented that their policy is not very customer-friendly, she goes ballistic!!! She then says over and over again, "Haven't you been listening to what I am saying, haven't you been listening to what I'm saying - don't put words in my mouth, do not put words in my mouth, call the IRS, call the IRS." Then she adds "If you don't get your mail, that's not my problem - call the IRS!"

To tell you the truth, I don't even know what triggered her unbalanced rantings. All I requested was a paperwork that is generated by Citicard - why she is having me call the IRS Office is beyond me! It seems like she hates performing her job functions such as help Citicard customers with issues they have with regards to their credit card accounts. This gal is in need of some serious help. She needs to go see a psychiatrist or a psychologist and get some help for her bipolar tendencies. Finally, when I asked to talk to a manager, she says, "THERE'S NO MANAGER HERE!" - she then hung up the phone!

Here's my question for CITICARD: What kind of customer service training do you provide your employees? Your employee's actions were highly offensive. You should provide customer service training for all of your employees on a regular basis or stop hiring employees with severe mental problems.

By the way, this is the Citicard Dept's phone # that I had called: 1800-772-0743. Just an FYI: I did call back that same phone # and got another Citicard employee who was happy to help a Citicard customer with her request to get a copy of her Form 1099-C.

A Citibank Nightmare
By -

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- One month ago, I listed a cabinet on eBay for my neighbor and a gentleman by the name of Charles ** responded claiming interest towards the end of the auction. He agreed to buy the item, but by then the auction was over. Thus, the transaction was completed off eBay. He stated that he was purchasing the item for a client: David ** of Sherman Oaks, CA 91403 who sent me a Money Gram money order for $2000 US, the cost of the item $400; the difference commission and shipping charges. Which would be sent to Mr. **'s Shipper: **.

I, suspecting that something was off about the deal took the money order on 11/01/2006 to my local bank: Citibank (www.citibank.com), East Brooklyn Financial Center 80 Jamaica Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11207 and told them all I knew about it, including the fact that it is possibly a fake and that I had to wire the difference to the sender/agent/shipper. (In other words, help me please...) The teller took it to her supervisor ** and they said it looked real, swiped it - it did not swipe and continued to process it.

Eight days later (11/8/2006), I returned to the bank and asked if everything was OK with the money order, they said yes and gave me the money. I gave $400 to my neighbor, wired $1592 to Mr. **'s shipper and provided him the Western Union MTCN. That was the last I head of him.

On 11/10/2006 Citibank would later recant saying that the money order bounced and that I am responsible as they are NOT obligated to investigate every money order present by their customer. In addition, it did not matter what the teller had been told or said to the customer. They are simply there to accept the money order/check, make the funds available and then validate the money/check order in accordance with federal and state banking regulations. Ridiculous? I think so.

I could not complete a police report because this was deemed a civil matter, nor could I complete a civil suite because it appears Mr. **, Mr. ** and Mr. ** are all the same person and lives in the Republic Of Cyprus. Can you help me please? Are banks not required to place holds on suspected fraudulent transaction and investigate them accordingly? Do I have a case?

Disregard for Opt Out Law

SIOUX, SOUTH DAKOTA -- I have chosen to use the opt out program that was created by Congress to allow citizens to opt out of receiving credit card offers and advertising. Citibank has totally disregarded my wishes. I have called them to complain and still continued to receive their credit card offers. I have also written them twice asking them to recognize the law in place and quit sending me mail, but I still, as of today even, continue to get their offers. I have reported them to the Federal program that oversees opt out, but they still send me mail.

No other bank or Insurance company that I opted out of has done this, they respected my wishes and the law and immediately quit sending me mail offers, except of course for Citibank. Citibank is arrogant and disrespectful and must think the law doesn't apply to them. I would never use their services in the future and I hope others won't either.

Citimortgage Loan Modification Screwed Me Big Time
By -

9 months ago I decided to call Citibank to try to get a modification on my loan to help lower my payments, even though I wasn't past due they told me I was preapproved. My mortgage went from 2700 to 1200 on a 3 month trial basis, they kept saying the same document was missing or not right. I re sent it 5 times. They got me so frustrated but I kept on with it, I paid the lower amount on time and never late. I called every week and was told we have the necessary papers and are in review.

It is now 9 months later. They said it went to underwriting which is a great sign. Then today I get a call that I am denied to modification, because I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INCOME. YA THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE. Anyway I have to start paying the old amount of 2700, and they said I have to pay the past Amount that they reduced $16000.00 which I don't have. The best they will do is spread it over a year, which would mean I have to pay $4800 a month which is ridiculous.

So not only have they royally screwed me they also messed up my credit. It was 780 when this started now it's 600 cause of what they posted so I can't even refinance, they suggest I short sell or foreclose, they are a big help. If anyone has a suggestion please email me at **.

Online Account Hacked
By -

VIRGINIA -- We have been Citibank customers for over 10 years. Citibank offers online bill payments for credit cards, utilities, etc. through their online banking system. Yesterday while checking our account, we realized someone had actually logged into our account (considering it a secure site), set up their own credit card and paid $6K through our account!!! We were aghast that such frauds happen. We contacted Citibank immediately and notifies about our account being compromised. All we heard from them is that will open and investigation and will try to get our money back.

We had provided all the information required - we even gave them the credit card number that was used, how hard is it to find out whose number that was? Not only did we have to go through the process of closing our account and opening a new one, we had to replace all our credit cards since that information was easily available to hacker once he logged in.

Since we have no balance left, we will be late on all our payments as well. Citibank refused to prioritize our investigation and every time we called for an update on the investigation status, an associate would say they cannot see any complaints on the account and open a new report. This happened 3 times.

What kind of system do they have? The associates sitting in some third world country were not even able to understand how the account was compromised. We are extremely unhappy and are only waiting for the result of the investigation and for our money to returned. We will start looking at other options.

Personal Loan

75067 -- I have had a loan through Citi Financial for a year. They managed to call my work, and continuously entice me into borrowing more money, which I was stupid and did. I called them a week before my loan was even late, to let them know I was on short term disability and couldn't pay them till I got paid. They have called my home over 100 times in the past 5 weeks, my cell phone over 56 times, my husband's work phone (he isn't even on the account.). They use various local numbers, and also use that 803 area code #.

I hope an attorney sees these complaints, and there is a class action suit filed against them. They charge outrageous interest, sell you "unemployment insurance" but that is only good if you get involuntarily terminated. No other credit has EVER treated me so badly as these people have. They are argumentative, aggressive, harassing, intimidating loan sharks that need to have their lending ability suspended. They are a nuisance to the working class people, and prey on the poor and unemployed.

Customer "NO" Service
By -

Having been a customer with Citibank for a few years now, carrying a credit card of theirs, I am finding myself in a situation where I fall on deaf ears with their so-called customer service. We tax payers have bailed this company out. In these economic times, many of us "little people" are hit with financial disasters. So, here I am, having had surgery and other medical issues, bad health insurance which did not pay all of the procedures. This situation forced me to fore go payments to on my monthly balance.

Now I am in collections. Explaining to those people that I will not have any money until the first quarter of 2011 is just being ignored. This financial "institution" would rather have me send them what I can and go hungry just to satisfy them. I am not one who does not honor his obligations, but when you need a break and can't get one, it gives you second thoughts. To add to dilemma: their website will not allow you to send them a message to explain your situation. Customer Service? I think NOT! However, I did obtain a list of exec's email addresses with this company. We shall see.

Once I've honored my debt with them, they are history as they do not care about us people in the least. They will lose yet another customer. I do hope that they will eventually go belly up without being bailed out with our tax monies once more.

Home Equity loan
By -

My son and I went through CitiFinacial for a home equity loan. We didn't have much choice because banks wouldn't do older trailers. Had no trouble with them and always made our payments two month ahead of time. But then we had a home fire and couldn't live in it. We notified CitiFinancial and was asked what we thought they could do, you have insurance! But when we told them that Concord Group Insurance wasn't going to pay off, they couldn't help and wanted their payment even if we didn't have a place to live.

After a year trying to get a modified loan payment and missing paperwork, we got a modified loan for $80 less than we were paying. And when we ask if they could help put something back on the land, we were told we had to make full payments for a year before they would give another loan at 11% +. What a waste of time and money trying to do the right thing with our loan. We should just have not made the payments, they would never gotten all their loan repaid. These people don't care about us only their money.

Greed and Nonexistent Customer Service
By -

COPPELL, TEXAS -- I am in receipt of my very first Citifinancial auto invoice. I so very much looked forward to a long relationship with your company. Imagine my horror as I perused your bill, only to find out that you charge a fee of $14.95 when a payment is made online. I immediately called your customer service line and questioned the lady who answered. She gave me an extremely cavalier and lackadaisical response. I am appalled and mortified that in this economic clime, ANY financial institution would impose such a large, grossly unfair burden upon the public.

I am disabled, related to two strokes, and writing checks is for me laborious and painful and I purchased a car because my previous car was so low, and my condition so eroded, that getting in and out of the vehicle was truly a burden. I pay all my bills online and not even once have I encountered such an egregious policy borne out of, I can only surmise, greed. And what is your trouble incurred by accepting a payment online? A few keystrokes?? Getting your money right away? Good Heavens!

If I had known you had this method of extortion as a policy (read penalty for paying online and on time), I certainly would have used another lending institution offered to me. Please know that I am going to actively and aggressively look for another company for the refinancing this loan. So sorry for the years of interest dollars lost that you will NOT be receiving from me. I will notify you at once when I have obtained a new lender.

Drop Card
By -

Citibank did the same thing to me about a card I have had for over 2 yrs. Got a letter and said my account was closed, reason "unknown." So mad, I called and was told my credit score went down. Needless to say it didn't. However, I called and asked why my account was closed. The RUDE lady there said my credit score was lower than what they wanted so therefore my account was closed again.

Had this for over 2 years, never missed a payment, never once late. So I responded to the nag that I would just stop paying my bill. She responded that how can you sleep not paying your bills? My response was "how do you guys cancel people cards when they pay every month? So now tell me how do you sleep?" Click.
