Clear Copy Solutions is a Fraud
Posted by on
UNION, MISSOURI -- I responded to an online ad looking for a copywriter. Clear Copy Solutions responded, saying that there was an overload of work, and would I be able to do an assignment within a week for $50.

I agreed, and was paid promptly through PayPal. Clear Copy Solutions then asked for another batch for $100, due September 1, 2009.

I agreed, did the work, then nothing.

Ignored my two follow-up emails, then I discovered Clear Copy Solutions soliciting clients online during the time my emails went unanswered. Followed up with another email - nothing. Followed up with a fax - nothing.

Heard from another writer that she had just been hired by the company for an immediate assignment!

Found another complaint about Clear Copy Solutions on this site - from a client that was bilked out of money, and had all correspondence ignored. This complaint went back to February 2009, so apparently there is a history of fraud and theft (only wish I had found this review before getting involved!)

Reported Clear Copy Solutions to Writers Weekly, Internet Crimes, and several agencies in the hometown of the business.

Clear Copy Solutions promotes all work and portfolio as the owner's - so someone out there has "20 Home Improvement Tips" not written by Clear Copy, and by a writer never paid!

So to all clients in need of content and copy, and all writers looking for gigs, stay away from Clear Copy Solutions! And let everyone in your networks know!

Good post. Your subsequent investigation has pretty much pegged them as an outfit that has been stealing copy from those they solicitate for quite a while it appears.

Well written! I hope your review prevents at least one person from what appears to be a less than honest company.

Some on m3c would say that Clear Copy just made a business decision to not pay you, and that that is a wise move to make. Don't listen to those people. They have no honor.

I sent Cynthia Bingaman, from Clear Copy Solutions, a little friendly note, just to see what she'd say. I've hired so many writers/agencies in my life, and there are too many ethical ones to choose from to have to deal with this kind of crap.

I hope you sue. And I hope when you do that you issue a release to her local media - I think your hook could be how you spread the word online about Clear Copy because they failed to respond to emails/pay you before you considered a lawsuit, or something like that. ("Local writer sued" may not be hook enough for the papers to pick it up.)

Mundo, who on My3C do you think would be pleased to see someone go unpaid for completed work?
Eloise on 10/02/2009:
Robyn, Clear Copy is just plain wrong. They've got no right to not pay you for completed work. I wish I knew who you could contact to get this situation resolved, but I don't. So instead I hope that they will get what is coming to them, and you'll find satisfying employment!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support!

I feel I have done everything I can - contacted everyone possible. And many thanx goes to Angela Hoy from Writers Weekly for doing what she does.

What further hurts about this situation is that Cynthia and I had had a correspondence between assignments about our little ones going to school. I was especially proud that my 4 year old, who is autistic, was going to a "mainstream" pre-K. Not only did I express that to her, but also how glad I was to have finally found work after being unemployed since February (I had a regular writing gig with a company that Dove when the economy did). Since she had praised my first assignment so much and immediately offered me another (the one she stiffed me on), I told her I would be happy to take whatever overload she had - times are tough.....

I most likely will never see that $100. But if my complaints and alerts keep clients from being defrauded, and writers from being used, then therein was the purpose in my experience.........

All the best to everyone.

Words That Steal!
Posted by on
UNION, MISSOURI -- Dear Members of,

I am contacting this entity because of a reputable company gone bad! Clear Copy Solutions has deliberately unfulfilled a contract for a small publishing firm. Also, it has blatantly denied all contact and has decided not to return money for services not rendered!

We are a small publishing company, Growing Up Easier Publishing, and last fall we hired Clear Copy Solutions to copy edit our book, Healing Practices To Help Kids Grow Up Easier.

We paid in full up front and she has taken our money but has not delivered a product to us nor will she return any of our calls or emails regarding the matter. We have tried to contact her many times over the past months with no success as we attempt to recover our money.

I am asking your help, as we are asking all of her references, in trying to
contact Clear Copy Solutions about this and seeking resolution. Would you consider contacting her on our behalf? We are hopeful that someone she has worked with before may have better luck communicating with her.

Since we are a small company and have been relying on donations and loans to
produce our book, this has been devastating for us and I am hopeful you will
consider helping us by contacting her.

I also would like to take this opportunity to warn you about the troubles we
have had with her, as we would not wish this to happen to anyone else.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Warmest Regards,

Growing Up Easier publishing

This was posted twice yesterday and my comments plus the originals seem to have been removed. I have found the OP response to my question. Now I understand your complaint. Maybe the OP needs to retain an attorney.

Thanks! New at this virtual collection stuff! Going low budget before sending in Big Guns!

PB-The OP posted it in his blog. Admin helped him move it to the review side of the site. Was there a contract with CCS? Are they denying 'contact'? with your firm. If so, any copies of correspondence (e-mail, etc.) would be valuable prove they did have contact with you. Good luck!

I found the originals in his blog. That's also where I found his response to my post yesterday.
Soaring Consumer on 02/19/2009:
It is a definite, definite necessity to sue them. Good luck.

If you have a written contract, and written documentation of your attempt to contact the company regarding the services that you paid for and were never provided...then I'm with Soaring. Sue them!

A writer is claiming Clear Copy Solutions owes her $100 and that they're ignoring her correspondence. See:
