AUSTIN, TEXAS -- First, they came out 3 separate times for claims on things included in the home warranty contract. Every time, they told me there was nothing they could do and I would just have to buy new appliances. Their job is to fix it or replace it! That is the whole point of the warranty. I stupidly switched from another warranty company because the prices went up drastically, but now I know why. The other company responded immediately, and fixed everything within a day. Colonial is a joke.
So I was forced to buy a new AC (not cheap!) because they would not fix it and I couldn't live in Austin without one. Even though I paid extra to have the AC included in the warranty, they still said there was nothing they could do and they weren't liable. As stated in my policy, I can cancel the warranty at any time and receive a refund for unused days. I canceled the policy last week and never heard back from them on my refund.
I called again today and they said, "Oh sorry you are not entitled to a refund because you received a discounted cost when you signed the contract." Excuse me? That was a discounted price? So I said, "OK, where can I see that in my contract?" "Oh we sent you an email with that information after you signed the contract." Well first of all, they have never sent me anything via email even though I have confirmed my email address with them numerous times and asked them to do so. "Oh and I am sorry ma'am, I can't provide you that information again because the account is now closed."
What a joke! I should have read all the other complaints about this company online. No one has anything good to say about them. They will lie, and cheat you out of lots of money. I am not talking about a $50 refund here, I am talking about over $400 they owe me. Oh and if you do have a problem with them, there is no one except the call center you can talk to. They wouldn't let me talk to a manager and corporate doesn't take calls. Good luck with that! Might as well just throw your money down the drain.
