Horrible Phone Service (Monopoly)
Posted by on
ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I think the complaint is best described by going to the document where I have complained to everyone with no luck.

It took over 3 years to get the required DMarc put in alone. I was even told not to pay anything by a supervisor in which we recorded it. The company still cut off our service leaving us with no internet or even 911!

My wife had called 911 only to discover it did not work!

If you owed them money then you PAY your bill. Why would a supervisor tell you not to pay? You must be leaving something out.

Just curious do you or any family members work for the company? Also curious if something doesn't work if you pay for it when told not to.

so what was the issue?

Edited to add, to answer why I was told to not pay the bill, even the company acknowledged they were unable to fix the problem. Since we had been paying for services that even the COMPANY acknowledged did not work, they agreed that it made no sense to continue to pay for things that did not work. He even went so far as to say that once the services were working and we all agreed billing would begin again, it was their motivation to finally solve the problem. Monthly we would call him and he would correct the bill when we asked if we needed to pay or not. One month his boss decided this was not good enough, reversed all credits and disconnected the phone and internet after we were told to not pay. I suggest if you have any further questions to visit the official docket with the South Carolina Public Utility Commission.

On the home phone we have radio interference and were picking up local radio stations on the line. We were told to continuously buy new phones, which we did. Even the phones provided by the company which were supposedly guaranteed to block any interference did not work. The home phone would hang onto the line and not disconnect from earlier calls coming in or going out. The home phone would disconnect calls or rather "drop" calls like a cell phone. The cable modem was down more than it was up and finally after 3 years they came to find it was improperly run outside the home and was buried. That was done incorrectly and led to cracking and eventually the complete leaning of the pole it was run from, due to the instability of the ground from the contractors. The company disconnected our home security system (which after two years of trial and error all agreed were NOT a part of the problem during a vendor meet) and left a post it note on the front door saying "Your home security system has been disconnected from your home phone line", letting anyone and everyone who came by aware that the alarm did not work. I could go on and on but the docket shows it all. Hands down the worst offense was during a medical emergency when my wife had to dial 911 for herself while home alone with our then three year old daughter, to find that the phone and 911 would not work. She had to drive herself to get medical treatment and neighbors in the area have problems with their lines dialing 911 constantly when they are not in use. The issues are still unresolved, we know we are not the only people dealing with issues of this caliber.

so if we disagree with you and your opinion, that means we are emplooyed byt the entity of your complaint?

a d-marc panel is often used where there are multiple lines. homne phone lines over 10 would require a mini d-marc. how many lines were installed? interference can come from the electrical source as well. was a line conditioner installed?

No, madconsumer you are right, it does not mean you are employed there but locally I have found that the only people who agree with their actions are either employed there or have family who are.

We had no distinct Dmarc point outside and as ordered by the Utilities Commission we now have a special D Marc where we can go outside and test the line to see if the noise is outside of the home, which it is. We paid a specialist over 500 dollars to confirm it is outside of our home. :(

I am not sure about the line conditioner, I do know they installed filters (if that is the same) to help with the radio interference but those do not work well and it still bleeds through. The radio interference can be heard on top of the pole on the line outside, which we have been told has been rewired at least three times. When we asked to have our inside lines rewired they said we could not do this since they terminated our inside wire maintenance plan.

Comporium is a monopoly that is out-of-control. When there is a situation where there is only one choice of a company

Comporium Communications is one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with. Even contacted the FCC. Some of the internet assistance people are very rude, but some are very gracious. This "Utility" cannot get its act together. To add insult to injury, their charges are outrageous. Bottom line, this company stinks!

Comporium is a monopoly! They have horrible customer service that acts like they are doing you a favor giving you their time.

They will not provide corporate numbers or emails to take things to higher levels as they are instructed to follow a chain of command. If you have problems/billing issues, don't expect any care or concern. They know they are a monopoly in Rock Hill and couldn't care less losing a single customer.

We need "competition" here! In NC Time Warner did what it took to keep valued customers. I will soon be switching to Dish Tv and I wish everyone would leave this corporate money bag of a company that treats customers (7 years) like rubbish!!!!
