They were not clear on the fact it had an expiration date, nor were they clear about the time expiration began clicking down. We were 7 days late redeeming it. They flat out said were out of luck. We got the run around on the phone support by 6 different agents and two supervisors. My suggestion is shop elsewhere. This was our second Dell and the second time we were extremely unhappy with the customer service.
Purchased expensive laptop in June of 2012, with the promise of a $76.00 Gift card. I had to call repeatedly before the card was finally sent Aug. 22, 2012 via E-Mail. It had a 90 day expiration on in but no issue date. When I tried to use it on Oct 30, 2012, I was told it had expired. The 90 days was from date of purchase, not the date it was sent to me. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 10/31/2012Add reply
Dell offered a $400.00 gift card to be used on Dell products only which was fine. They took a very long time to respond to the fact that I never received I'd and finally when I did (email notification) that the time to use it had expired even though one of the statements said that there was no expiration date. I tried for months to resolve this talking with their wonderful customer reps in India (being fececious) to no avail. Have stopped using Dell products both at home and at my office. When I asked for Ana American representative I was told that there was no contact in the USA.1 Replies - Latest reply on 09/23/2012Add reply
Our broadband modem was faulty and had to be replaced. Once the modem was replaced our Dell Inspiron wouldn't connect to the router. Thinking that the problem might be software-related, my wife called Dell tech support. After taking control of our computer, the techie told my wife that he discovered that malware was preventing the computer from connecting to the internet.

For $129 plus tax they could fix it. However, it would be a better deal if we paid $239 for a one-year service contract. However, even if we bought the service plan, he could not guarantee he could fix the problem. We said no and called our internet provider. A Time Warner tech rep, found that the problem was related to our security software preventing a connection to the router. Problem solved for free.
Conclusion: the Dell tech representative had no idea what was wrong with our computer and instead was bent on making a sale.
Completely useless pile of crap that does not function even after hours on phone to India. never again 1 Replies - Latest reply on 07/30/2012Add reply
MARYLAND -- Computer support or just a sales ploy? I contacted Dell in early June because I needed to replace the LCD screen on my laptop. Had three contacts with online Dell support about this. At the time they did not have my screen available, so they suggested I find a Dell store or go through Amazon.

One month later, I need to replace my battery. Contact Dell and first thing they mention is my warranty has expired--1 year ago. followed by a heavy sales pitch to renew this warranty for over $200. Is battery replacement covered under the warranty--no! Is LCD screen replacement covered under warranty--yes! Did anyone mention that when I contacted in June about my LCD screen? No! Seems like a pretty selective and faulty business practice to me. Heavy sales pitch on the warranty when the service isn't covered. Conveniently "forget" to mention it when you contact about a covered service.
So...I sent some feedback and asked to be contacted to discuss this. So far..no one has followed up. So much for their commitment to customer service.

I've had my Dell Inspiron M5030 laptop about a year and a half. I don't use it much and it looks like it came off the showroom floor. Was using it two days ago and it shut down unexpectedly. Upon start up attempts, there is no screen display and the computer has a consecutive 7 beep warning that indicates the motherboard is fried. Went on the internet to find this is a common problem found in abundance AND shortly after factory warranty has expired. I will NEVER by ANYTHING from Dell again....NEVER!!! Guess I'll just hope for the lawsuit to begin/?Add reply
