MIAMI, FLORIDA -- The company has a 2 year contract and if you are unhappy with the service they don't have a cancellation period. You would need to pay your 2 year contract in full so they can cancel.
They don't tell you up front that you can not call and add an additional "joey" or upgrade your equipment without starting your contract all over again.
Their customer service sucks. You get bounced around and no one is willing to help you. All they say is do you want to cancel your service. Of course not. I'm stuck like Chuck because I am not just giving your company $970 for no reason.
I have never regretted switching to a new provider of any kind like I have switching to this money sucking company.
Dish - Unfair Business Practices
SPARTANBURG, MISSOURI -- I want consumers to be aware of the Dish nightmare. I was with them for about 5 years. After they tried to upsell me many times, and after they kept putting unknown charges on my bill, and after I was ... read full review1 Replies - Latest reply on 03/05/2014
ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO -- We were lied to from dish!! We met a man named josh at the home show in Albuquerque New Mexico. We switched from direct TV to dish losing money since we broke our contract to go with dish to get the iPad mini. We signed up for every Chanel and agreed to pay full price which would have been $205.00 a month, so we could get the iPad mini. When the guy showed up to hook us up he didn't do it right and we had to go though Super Bowl without a TV. By the way we got two hoppers and two Joie's. 5 days later a girl showed up and said the 1st guy didn't even point the dish at the satellite. When we called to find out where the iPad mini was they told us they signed us up for a different package and we aren't eligible for the iPad mini and there was nothing they could do about it. Too bad so sad! We have canceled dish on the promise by a man named John we won't have a cancellation fee. I will spread the word the Dish lied and gets you to sign up for one package then changes it unbeknownst to you so the don't have to give what they promised. Shame on Dish TV1 Replies - Latest reply on 02/19/2014Add reply

Really bad customer service and dependable equipment.
PELHAM, GEORGIA -- I switched from direct TV to Dish Network in December 2012. The dish representative told me my monthly bill would be $79 for the first year and increase $15 after the introductory offer. In December 2013 my bill increased to $94 just as I thought. In January 2014 it increased to $108. In February it increased to $115. I called dish on both occasions. I was told by the customer representative to read the fine print in my contract. I tried to explain what the conversation was before it was installed. He kept repeating read the contract. My bill has increased by $36 since installation. I called and emailed a supervisor the middle of January. I still have not heard from them. Dish does not operate in good faith. They are too busy trying to hook the next new customer. I will cancel Dish asap and will tell anyone and everyone that will listen that Dish has simply found a way to "legally" rob their customers!Add reply
FERTILE, IOWA -- You do not get what they promise 250 channels? I don't call duplicate channels HD and reg of the same channel 2 channels. to me that is 1. They don't care to keep loyal customers happy. They take channels away that you had when you start your service I am not talking HBO or cinamax. DIY I had that channel a year ago it was removed. I was told I never had that channel. How in the heck did I watch it then? Grrr. Then you get an agent and they pass you on and no one has an answer. I'm so tired of getting ripped off by companies!! I do want to thank the people who posted about the 227.50 termination fee that they denied changing. So we are waiting 2 mths then bye bye dish. Good ridden. Another dissatisfied customer.1 Replies - Latest reply on 03/02/2014Add reply
DENVER, COLORADO -- The reason I chose Dish (over DirecTV or cable) is because of the price. Dish said they have the cheapest packages, and I think they say so today too.
In the news, I often see articles about channel takedowns. Instead of complaining, I would like to commend Dish for standing up for our subscriber rights and fighting the content providers that are against changes --- like a la carte channel lineups and better VOD options. Yeah ... it's painful when you miss an important show, but at least our prices are going up as much either!
The service was not good and when I canceled the service I had to deal with people who did not understand simple English. Several weeks after service was discontinued I called the DISH service center and asked for the details of my final bill. (all DISH property had been returned weeks prior) The person I was talking to said his name was John. He advised me that DISH owed me a re-fund. I advised him it could be mailed to the address all other communication had been sent too. Today (01/21/20014), over three months since being told I had a refund coming, I received a bill from DISH claiming I owed over $40.
If your looking for a decent TV provider, don't use DISH.
FORT CAMPBELL, KENTUCKY -- We began our 24 month contract with dish in Sept 2013, we since relocated aboard Fort Campbell and dish was unable to obtain a signal. They refuse to let us out of our contract unless we pay a $600 early termination fee...
I was hung up on twice today and denied twice the opportunity to speak with a supervisor. To treat your military members so poorly is appalling... A technician and Dish Network district manager are both on my side about the issue and the mistreatment... DO NOT use this company....
I filed a complaint with the BBB and will go to small claims court if need be...Absolute thieves . 180dbb9
MAX, NORTH DAKOTA -- Over a month ago I ordered satellite TV because we live out of town. No mind you I live in North Dakota and I am use to companies being short handed and that means you have to wait to get the things you want. I was told it would be two week for hook up. Well the hook date comes and no one shows up or calls from Dish Network. I had to call them to be informed that the weather was too bad out and I would have wait an additional two weeks. I was mad because I need to lose a twelve hour shift a work to be home. Now today (new hook up date) I finally get a call from Dish Network telling me the weather is too bad once again. Now I've missed two days of work that cost me 800 out of my pocket. So will they come out the next day? Nope I have to wait yet again this time 1 week and take another day
off. And what do they offer me for my troubles nothing... not even a waiver of the hook up fee. Total rip off. They don't care about their customers and I don't care about them. I canceled their service before it even started! Avoid Dish Network if you can.
FORT WAYNE, INDIANA -- I spent over an hour giving all my information to Dish and paying them for set up on a Friday. They came out on Saturday. The Technician was so rude to me and left saying he couldn't set up due to line of sight. FALSE. My neighbors Dish is 3 ft from my front door. I chatted with Mariel today who told me they can set up. Then she wanted my SSN and Credit Card AGAIN because she wanted to start me a new account. I informed her I wasn't paying them again. I have not received my refund from the first set up that was not completed. She then transferred me to Allan before I was done typing to her. Allan was also useless and transferred me to Robert. Robert then said he needed my SSN and Credit Card AGAIN so he could run another credit check to set me up another account. I explained I was not paying them AGAIN. He then sent me some long, copy and pasted jabber about my first months bill and the disconnected me from the chat that I had been working on for an hour and half. I then CALLED them and spoke to Zach who could not have possible cared any less. I am going with Comcast, as Dish has the least helpful, most arrogant, and completely rude customer service I have ever dealt with. All I wanted was them to send someone out to get a second opinion on the "line of sight" issue. It's not like I asked them to do something hard. Never again, Dish, NEVER again.Add reply
COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS -- After 4 months of being told that internet service form Dish Net was not available in my area ( found out it was all along ) I had finally received internet service from Dish Net. I have had the service since Oct and only use it to get on Face Book, I do not download movies or videos due to I don't know how to, at least once a month we need to use Map Quest. this is the extent of my internet use, and now I am having trouble getting on Face Book, when I called tech support the gentleman informed me that I have to wait until the 28th of the month because I have used up all my gigs....?? he said it is a cycle that runs from the 27th to the 27 of each month...well here it is only the 10th of the month, I don't understand how this works. This is the worst service I have ever had for internet, and paying almost double for the service!! I would NEVER recommend Dish Net to anyone.Add reply
Terrible Service and Overcharges
PATTERSON, GEORGIA -- Dish Network is the worst company I have ever dealt with. My elderly, disabled parents had their service for years. They got behind on their bill, and Dish drafted over $600 from their account in Oct. ... read full review1 Replies - Latest reply on 01/10/2014
Dish network. What a joke. I am on my second year of a 2 year contract. By far the worst mistake I have made is using these people. Every time it rains, no signal. They quoted me 1 price and charge me another. I would only recommend this company to people I really don't like. Go with cable. Do not use Dish Network !!! Add reply
ANDOVER, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- I cannot even understand how this company can be in business. I thought dish service has come a long way since the 80's? Guess not. Soon as winter hit it has been signal loss after signal loss.. Not due to snow buildup but due to snow in the air, cloud cover, etc... What a joke. Every snow storm that rolls in knocks our TV out for a minimum of 6 hours. Most times for over 24hrs. They should be required to give credits when service is down. I.E. You pay for 30 days service a month if in that month you lose 4 days service than customer should only have to pay for 26 days. This is my first time dealing with Dish and will be my last. Soon as we sell our home and move from this rental to our new home Dish is gone. I'll pay the fee's to break my 1yr contract. It will be worth it to leave this faulty service. Oh yeah dealing with outsourced Customer service is also wonderful. I just love talking to people who I can barely understand and can barely understand me. They are a money monger company who preys on people who have no other options for cable. Guess I was spoiled as our home on the market was in a Comcast area (rarely had a outage) I cannot wait to leave this nightmare behind me. As for referring people to them? yeah I wouldn't even refer my worst enemy to them.Add reply
DALLAS -- When returning dish components I would advise checking cost to mail it yourself vs, using their box and label. The components I returned did not weigh much and could have been mailed in a smaller box. Using their mailing label cost me $18.40. Their label does make the return easier, however, it's maddening to receive a final bill for the printed label.
Not great reception in our area, with frequent outages that took several hours/on occasion days to re-establish.
EAST COAST, NORTH CAROLINA -- I called dish to cancel after my 2 year contract. I wanted to cancel before the next bill cycle. I was told everything was complete and boxes were being sent to return the receivers and remote (they didn't want the dish). Then a few days later I got an auto pay confirmation for the next month billing. When I called, they said the previous lady I talked to said I was still thinking about continuing service and planned to call back. They said she was in Philippines like that explained it and it happened often. They couldn't refund the full amount because the cancelation wasn't reported in their record. When I spoke with Zack, QSR East Coast, he said there was nothing he could do. Dish was just a *hitty experience all around. Way to reward those foolish enough to sign a 2 year contract.Add reply
