TAMPA, FL -- I will NEVER rent a car from E-Z Rent a Car again and I will strongly urge everyone I know not to use the company. The office is dirty. The staff are rude and unprofessional and 24 hours after returning my rental I still have not received my $200 deposit. When I called the office to inquire regarding my deposit, I was told that it would be returned within 24 hours. After waiting 24 hours and having still not received my deposit, I called back and I was told that it could take over 5 business days for my deposit to be returned (which I was not informed of prior to renting the car).
When I returned the car, I waited over 30 minutes in line. I watched the Sale Representative spend 15 minutes reviewing paper work with one couple and after everything was signed they were told that the only vehicle they could have was a van and that there were no cars and that they would have to wait an underdetermined amount of time for a car (it was unclear why they were not told this from the very beginning). Another couple waiting in line was so disgusted that they got back on the shuttle to the airport to go to another rental company. Everyone at the counter had a dispute.
To make matters even worse, there were staff hanging around doing nothing. They did not help a single customer despite the long line. The Tampa E-Z Rent a Car office is so dirty and unprofessional. I find it extremely difficult to believe that this is a national company.
I made a reservation from your site. I called E-Z rent A car and their Canada affiliate (TransCanada) few times before I even left for Canada to confirm. Everyone said my reservation is confirmed and rental is booked. Once arriving in Canada had to wait 45 min for pick up with 2 little kids in rain and cold. Once receiving at the counter they said they had no mini van... They have one tiny little Hyundai. Rest of my party had to spend 60$ for cabs.
When I tried to return the car on one was the counter, after calling the location and getting transferred to a cell phone, person tells me to leave the keys at front desk at Sherton.. No shuttle to the airport.. Also they charged mandatory 8.95 liability. What kind of business practice is this?? I want some answers.. I am hitting every website and using internet to spread the service quality E-Z rent a car and TransCanada offer..
DALLAS, TEXAS -- I too have had several bad experiences with this company. It is not a creditable organization. Their rates were reasonable or though I thought, but their business practices borders on fraud no less... My experience was with both Atlanta and Dallas operation. They have hidden charges. I have turned them over to my state's attorney general hotline for investigation and I would, first warn you not to rent from this terrible company and second, if you do, just turn them over to your states' attorney general for operating a sham business with shameful business practices. We don't have to stand for this type of treatment in the financial mess this country face today.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- I recently rented a car from E-Z Rent-A-Car in LAX because it was cheaper than all the other rental car companies. I had the worst experience and will never rent from them again. The cars were absolutely disgusting. It seemed as if they hadn't given them a wash in years! The steering wheel was sticky, there was dirt everywhere on the interior and exterior of the car, the license plate was taped to the windshield, stains all over the seats, and the list goes on.
I made them bring me 3 different cars and all of them were filthy. I asked if they could wash the car for me and they said their carwash was 30 minutes away and that it would take an hour or more to wash the car and bring it back. I had no choice to take a car because I had an important meeting to attend but it made me cringe every time I had to get in the car.
Here is the pictures I personally took:
ORLANDO, CALIFORNIA -- I had a flat tire out in Florida while renting the car from the MCO location. It took me 45 min. to get a representative on the phone at 2 am. The representative stated there is no one to come out and service the vehicle / it would be a while before they came out. I would be able to get a "replacement vehicle" but it would be the next day. I had my male friend hop out alongside I-4 and popped the donut on. We drove the car back to the airport. The representative swapped out the vehicle for the exact same car after he WALKED THE PREVIOUS CAR and CHECKED ME OUT OF MY CONTRACT and had me sign for a new one.
About 3 weeks later a bill came from them for the amount of over $1500 for a flat tire, axle, rims, wheel stuff and more! I was like WTF?! You can't charge a customer like this! Where is the pictures? I was not cited for possible incurrence of damages upon the original check in of the previous vehicle nor did I sign off on that. Now it is popped on my credit report. This is outrageous!
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- This company is definitely running a scam. We just got a credit card charge for $51.60 for a car rental from six months ago. We called to ask what this charge was for and were told that the car went through a toll without paying, the toll amount was $1.60 and then there was a $50 administration fee. My husband rented this car and he is sure he did not go through a toll without paying. I am disputing this charge with my credit card company but don't expect much to come out of it. My next move is reporting this company to the BBB.
HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT -- When I booked my premium rental car online I was given an estimate of $230 for a passenger car. Arriving at the airport I was offered a "free upgrade" to an SUV, which I accepted. The statement had an estimate of over $350 dollars which I questioned and was told "that is only an estimate of the cost-we are giving you the free upgrade." The agent had me sign an initial several times and on one paper the word "free upgrade" was handwritten and circled.
When I returned the car the upgrade was charged and the agent refused to call the manager when I asked. I was told that the manager was not in the office that day. There were three other customers with the same problem. When we demanded a manager one finally responded and the agent denied having told us that no manager was available. The manager was just as unwilling to help us and even threatened to call security although no one had raised voices or used intimidating language or behavior. Blatant and unapologetic dishonest business practices all the way around.
On Apr 08, 2011 I rented one of their cars. Although the online reservation total charges were $38.63, I was actually charged $62.72 because I was forced to accept and buy an undesired service in order to rent the car: their employee told me that if I did not accept to buy the Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) they were not going to rent me the car. This is totally unaccepted and is also ILLEGAL, as this business practice violates the Sherman Antitrust Act and Section 3 of the Clayton Act. This is legally called tying. I will never rent from E-Z Rent-A-Car.
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I had to rent several cars in Orlando over the weekend of March 18th for my wedding and several family members that were coming from out of town (we had a destination wedding at Disney). ** at the E-Z rent a car office at the Orlando airport was so awesome in the planning and execution! He worked with me on the various types of cars for each of the different families coming in, their schedule and their budgets. All of the cars were ready and waiting when they all got into town. The cars were clean. The service was quick and easy. And most importantly the price was right!
THANK YOU E-Z Rent A Car for your excellent service. You took one of my many stresses of my weekend away & everyone had a fab weekend and vacation!
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- EZ Car Rental is a joke. I was at LAX with a reservation for a car. When I arrived at the car rental location, there were 6 customers ahead of me and no cars available, even though we all had reservations. All they said was this happens about once a month. Everyone was furious.
After waiting an hour and a half, with still 5 customers ahead of me, I gave up. I have emailed the company several times, and left messages several times, with no response whatsoever. I have never seen such a irresponsible, mess of a company. I will never do business with them again, and I will make sure I let as many people as I can know how they conduct business.
