Unreliable - left us at airport and will not refund money
Posted by on

Do NOT pay in advance for services from Easy Ride Costa Rica. I paid in advance and Javier Ortiz left us at the airport and never picked us up as arranged even though I confirmed with him via email the week before that he would be picking us up. The tourist officials at the airport tried to call him and he did not answer. He will not respond to my emails requesting a refund, and I had to dispute the charge through my credit card company. There are plenty of reputable and reliable services you can use - I do NOT recommend using Easy Ride Costa Rica because after this happened to us, I heard that it is a fairly common experience for customers of Easy Ride Costa Rica.

How did you finally get to your destination. A recommendation of whom to trust would be good information for anyone traveling to Costa Rica!

Great idea Steve, I don't even care if I make any money. I just want the excuse to live there.

We go visit Costa Rica every year, and we usually take a taxi from the SJO airport to MUSOC bus station (about $20-$25), and take the MUSOC bus from San Jose to San Isidro de El General (which is usually our final destination). The bus is very cheap ($4 per person) and it is comfortable and quick and they have one that leaves every hour from 5am to 5pm. The bus trip takes 3 hours.

If you want a shuttle or taxi down to Dominical, I might recommend two sources for you:

A Safe Passage: http://www.costaricabustickets.com/
I have not used them, but in emailing them they seemed very reliable. Also they don't ask you to pay until they get you where you are going.

We met a taxi driver who took us to the airport and was GREAT that I would highly recommend. He usually takes fares from the airport to Dominical and is very familiar with Dominical. He speaks some English.

Also if you've booked a hotel in Dominical, you can probably ask them if they have any recommendations for whom to use/how to get there.
