Do you like dirty dishes, if so, buy this machine
Posted by on
I purchased this dishwasher about 10 months ago and cannot say how much I dislike it. First, the loading is not easy and the adjustable top rack is a joke. I can only leave it in the middle position because it will not allow the intake tube to line up with the piece attached to the wall of the dishwasher.

Now let me discuss cleaning. Well, plan to wash everything by hand before putting it in this so called dishwasher. Flatware is the worse … unless it is completely clean going in, it will be as dirty coming out. I do like the fact that it is very quiet … good thing since I have to set it to heavy wash (in hopes of anything coming out clean) and it takes a couple hours to complete.

In past homes, I had Kitchen Aid and Bosh. I would do anything to have my Kitchen Aid back and maybe will take the plunge and replace this expensive one year old dishwasher with a Kitchen Aid and make sure everyone knows just how bad it is and not to buy one!

Please, if you are thinking of a new dishwasher, and you want clean dishes, don't purchase an Electrolux. It is like tossing $1100. out the window.

Thanks for the info.

Have you called Electrolux? They might be able to provide some possible solutions for your problems. It certainly wouldn't hurt. For the price you paid that's the least they could do.
Slimjim on 2009-09-28:
Try priming the hot water from the sink just before running it. It will help get hot water in it from the start. Also make sure the wash arms spin freely once loaded and the racks are pushed in. I doubt either of these are the culprit, but it's worth making sure. I will back you though- Wouldn't spend $200 for a Frigidaire, let alone over a thousand.
CrazyRedHead on 2009-09-29:
When was the last time you cleaned it out? The dishwasher isn't a miracle worker. You do have to rinse your dishes off first. I have a Frigidaire and you have to clean it out once in a while or you will get throw back food on the dishes, no matter how clean they were when they went in. I have to remove the spinning bar and the food catcher in the bottom and clean it out about every 2-3 months. You would be amazed at some of the stuff I find in there. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to clean everything and reassemble it and everything is really clean afterwards. I also found that generic detergent isn't all that good, I use cascade action pacs.

Shame on you Electrolux
Posted by on
I purchased this vacuum in February, 2007 from Cosco in Toronto, Canada. At the time I believed I was purchasing an Electrolux product. Instead, as it turns out, I have purchased a Eureka vacuum with an Electrolux name on it. If I had wanted a Eureka vacuum I would have purchased one -- and it would have been less expensive. This vacuum is a piece of junk. I have had to have the hose attachment and part of the wand replaced (under warranty) and subsequently another part of the wand had to be replaced because one of the prongs broke off (not under warranty) -- on a 2-1/2 year old vacuum.

Will I ever purchase another Electrolux product???? Not a chance!

So you spent $128 instead of $99? Since you are no longer purchasing Electrolux products, mind you that you will no longer purchase ANY Frigidaire product and MUCH of what is an appliance in the industry is made by Frigidaire for other brands. Just kind of throwing that out there. :)
Mighty Ticked on 2009-06-08:
No Mario The Great --- I spent $400.00 to purchase that vacuum -- if I had spent $128.00 I wouldn't be complaining. Thanks for the heads-up on the Frigidaire issue though!
Mario The Great on 2009-06-08:
$400??? Christ, why not get a Dyson? Even the EUREKA Animal vacuum @ 169 would have been a better option. :)

Quality issues
Posted by on
I bought a Electolux washer model EWF 551 18 months back. When the product was hardly out of warranty,it failed. The technician identified the problem as PCB failure and faulty door lock. There was no physical damage to the washer.

I have used other washer earlier and did not have any failure. The last one I used was from LG which I used for more than 5 years without any failure. It is currently being used by my relative and is still working fine even after 7 years from the date of purchase.

The quality of electronics products has improved tremendously in the recent years that I have not come across a PCB failure in any products I use.

It proves clearly that the Electolux model EWF 551 is of very poor quality. My friend had a similar problem with Electolux washer. His washer failed after warranty and he got it repaired paying a huge sum.I paid close to 50% of the original price as the repair charge.I am wondering if this is part of the company's service revenue plan.Imagine if the company can get 50% of the product price as service charges immediately after warranty expiry at the cost of customers. In fact my friend discarded the Eletrolux and bought another reliable brand.

Please share if there are similar experiences.

Think twice before choosing an Electrolux washer.I am sure you will not like to pay 150% for a poor quality product.

I paid half the price for my LG washer 7 years back and it is working perfectly even today.

Compressor Broken Factory Defect
Posted by on
OREGON -- We have had our Frigidaire fridge ( # FRS26H5ASB4)about 4 and a half years. Last month we found a fridge full of rotten food and a huge puddle one morning. We called a repair man who said it was the defrost timer. That set us back over a hundred dollars. The next week we replaced an entire fridge full of food. The same thing happened again! This time we were told it was the compressor. We found the warranty and found we were covered. The repair took place within a week. The repair man that worked for Frigidaire told us it was a factory defect and the company was at fault. It is a common problem that they saw all the time. We were told we should get compensation for the hundreds & hundreds of dollars worth of rotting food they cost us. When I contacted the company they said they no longer offer food loss compensation. I had said I would contact the BBB. They said "go ahead nothing you do will get you compensation". Funny thing is they have unresolved issues with the BBB. This tells me they mean it when they say they do not care. They have become so big they do not feel they need to answer to any consumer groups. From what I understand, it was policy to offer food refunds when I purchased the fridge so I am due compensation. They sold me the fridge with that policy intact. It is very deceptive to yank it away when convenient. It must have been too costly to refund the masses of consumers they ripped off. It must have cost them a fortune! Here is an idea. Create a product you can afford to back up! Care about customers a tiny bit. This is a really nasty company in that they do not hide the fact that they do not care. They are pretty matter of fact when they tell you tough luck!

They will even admit they sold you a crap product but they will not give a dime of compensation. Do not buy from this company. A Fridge should last so, so much longer.

"From what I understand, it was policy to offer food refunds when I purchased the fridge . . ." Further down your letter you state "We were told we should get compensation . . ." - - who told you this? The repairman?

In order to be compensated for food loss you will need to provide written documentation stating that this was the policy at the time of purchase. I just looked on their website and they clearly state they do not compensate for food loss.

Furthermore, calling their product "crap" is not proper in a business letter and probably won't result in their sending you a check.
Ising on 2007-10-19:
Well, after a few weeks without food and having to deal with a broken fridge, I think "crap" is pretty applicable :-)
Ihatemyfridge on 2008-02-22:
When I read your story I thought you were just telling me exactly what happened to me. I too have dealt with this horrible company and gotten nowhere. It drives me insane even thinking about them. I think the word crap barely describes what I think of there products and there customer service.

Avoid Front Load Washer

Rating: 2/51
I paid the most for this to of the line stainless steel drum Electrolux Front-Loading Washing Machine and it is the worst one I've ever owned. It destroys my clothes. It caused the clothes to pill and tear even on the delicate cycle. I have never had this happen before. I would never buy another front loader or an Electrolux appliance.

Buyer Beware...Electrolux Appliances Are Terrible and Very Expensive

Rating: 1/51
The purpose in posting this is to help Electrolux's next customer. Do not buy anything from Electrolux. The reliability of their appliances is terrible and Electrolux customer service is even worse. We bought an entire kitchen and spent over $10K. We have had service calls on everything and still have issues that Electrolux will not help solve.

Bad Icemaker

Rating: 1/51
ALL CAPITALS BECAUSE I AM MAD!!! I am watching a commercial now that is making me vomit.

Icemaker has not worked in 3 years. They knew it was bad and still sent it anyway. $3600 may not be much to nonexistent Chris but to me it is too much for a defective product.

I will advise anyone not to buy Electrolux products.

We had the same experience and have had 14 service calls over 2 refrigerators and still no ice. we bought extended warranty and Electrolux has failed to honor their claims.
Yellowbug12 on 2013-09-19:
Same here. Except, they scammed me into buying extended warranty with a promise that if my fridge cannot be repaired they would replace it under the warranty. It was too good to be true. After four service calls and 7 new parts later, the fridge still does not work. No ice, the inside has puddles of water, freezer is iced up. As a matter of fact, it was deemed unrepairable. Of course, they will not replace the fridge. What else is new! When we still tried to fix it and I asked what would I do without a fridge, one of the customer service reps told me to get a cooler with ice. I have not had a fridge for months now. What really sad is that they know about all this. The know about the problem and they still do not do anything about it. They definitely, do not have integrity. There are so many of us with the same problem. We have to be able to do something about it. Has anyone contacted the Attorney General of NC, yet and filed a complaint?
