Used Car Dealership

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- I bought a car "as is" for my son from Family Auto Mart, Inc in August 2014. We did "test drive" the car around the block like they allow you to do, but by the time my son drove it home, 45-60 minutes away, the transmission was shifting hard and had a heavy clunking sound. We called the dealership and was told ** would have to call us back.

The next day, Saturday, my husband called again. He eventually spoke to ** and he told my husband to bring the car up on Monday. My husband called again Monday morning to confirm that we were bringing the car for them to look at, but when we got there ** acted like he knew nothing about the problem. I called my husband and he spoke to ** and again told him the problem with the car. ** quickly assured us they would have the problem fixed and make it right.

A few days later, we received a call that the car was ready to be picked up. ** told us that the transmission had a bolt missing and was moving around while driving and that's what the noise was. He also told us that there was a 1 year warranty on the transmission and if anything else happened to immediately call him so they could take care of it. He again assured us that he would make things right.

My son drove the car home and everything seemed to be OK until about a couple months later when the transmission started shifting hard again. We called Family Auto Mart, spoke to ** and after reminding him of the problem and the 1 year warranty on the transmission, he said he would call his mechanic and get back to us. He called back a few minutes later and asked us to take the car directly to his transmission guy, an hour away from us.

We left immediately and dropped the car off at the transmission place. After explaining the problem to the receptionist she asked if they had worked on this car before. I told her ** said they had and she said ok they would call us when it was ready.

A day later, ** called us and said we could go pick the car up. He again apologized and assured us that he makes things right and the transmission should be good now but it has a 1 year warranty and to call him if it happens again. AGAIN a few months later, February 2015, the car started shifting hard and now wouldn't go into third gear. My son actually got stranded in Orlando and had to have the car towed 100 miles back home.

My husband again called Family Auto Mart, Inc and spoke to ** only this time he refused to help or "make things right". My husband reminded him about the 1 year warranty on the transmission and ** denied it. After several minutes on the phone and getting nowhere, my husband hung up. We took the car to a local, reputable transmission shop to have it looked at. The mechanic there assured us the transmission had been worked on, but there were metal pieces all inside it and it was completely useless.

Now, we have a car we bought 6 months ago and still have over a year of payments sitting in my driveway until we can put a new transmission in it. Family Auto Mart and the sales manager, **, are NOT good business people. They do Not care about ethics or honesty. If I could give them Zero stars I would. Do NOT buy from them, I learned my lesson the hard way.

Buying a Car

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- Told them when we got there that we needed something reasonable and reliable. Just something to get us back and forth to work. I knew going into one of these "buy here, pay here" places on Aurora Rd. that we were taking a chance, but this place seemed to have the highest rating. They rushed us right over to a truck that obviously had bad tires. Then we went to the Nissan Murano. I knew that this car had a good rating, so we drove it around. It seemed okay. It shifted nicely, and had a quiet engine.

We purchased it using $1,000 down, which seemed a little odd, given my current credit score. We drove it home, and parked it in the driveway to fully detail the interior, as it was pretty dirty. We then took it to have it washed and it completely died on the road as soon as I shut off the A/C. When it did start again, it wouldn't accelerate over 10 mph all the way back home. We called the dealership the next morning to let them know of the issue, and they could only offer a mechanic they "trusted", as they no longer could do anything for us, beyond accepting our weekly payment for knowingly selling us a defective vehicle.

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- Well let's just say I've wasted mine and son's time driving there 1 and half hours one way. I called asked about a Ford Expedition that I was told only had 158k. First phone call so I sent my son down to buy. We had the cash or would have financed. Was told only put down 1k. Then he gets there. The truck has a flat tire. Won't start then they made my son feel as he didn't know what he was doing. Wouldn't pump up tire. Told him to come when he had money because they wouldn't finance that truck. Which was fine so I go down. Another 3 hours wasted.

As I called back the 3rd time only to be told the dealer fee is only 472 which they would even negotiate that fee also so I get their test drive only to find out the dealer fee is 871.26 plus tax on that also. Then I walked outside thinking about buying it even still then I return to sales office only to hear the salesmen talking crap about my son.

Well FYI my son has had well over 100 and he is only 22. His first car was when he was 13. So you do the math on that one. I'd think as a salesman you'd want someone to buy your vehicles not make them feel like they don't know what they're doing. He does know that this sales lot is a complete joke. Wheeling and stealing. And the sad part is that this lot really gives auto sales lot a real bad name. It kind of make me think about the movie Pretty Woman, "You work on commission right?" Big mistake!!! It could have been a nice relationship but NO you all would rather talk about folks behind their back when clearly you all made wrong judgment call on that one.

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- Complete waste of my time!!! All of the vehicles listed on their website as "specials" are all not running. I called and MADE SURE a specific one was in good shape and running. The lady, over and over, assured me it would be worth the drive. I get there and they can't even start the vehicle I was interested in. Then proceeds to tell me all the "specials" vehicles have something wrong with them. So the dude walks me around the lot to show me a few more that I could get into. I was there to buy a vehicle. All cash. No payments. I made the salesman aware of that numerous times and he said it wouldn't be a problem.

So I test drive an Infiniti with over 200,000 miles on it that drove rough the whole time. Then I go in just to see the numbers they were going to throw at me. $8000 for that POS!!! I was so angry. He wasted my time with the test drive and everything, as he knew what I was looking for and I was very persistent about it the whole time I was there. So to top it all off, the manager comes in and asks what the hold up was on the sale. I told him I wasn't paying that much for a vehicle with that many miles and that was running like **. So he asked me how much I was looking to spend and he had the nerve to say "So you think you're going to get an Infiniti for $3500?" I went off.

I had enough. I told him that if the ** who answers the phone would tell people the truth about the vehicles there, I would've used my time more wisely. Instead they lie to bring people in and put them on payments for cars that will most likely break down after you leave. I don't see how these people aren't shut down. Especially since their owner is an arrogant ** who thinks his ** ass cars don't stink. Will NEVER refer anyone or go there again. Ended up getting a 2006 SUV with my money and it runs beautiful. DON'T GO HERE!

Purchase of Daughter's First Automobile

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- We needed a used vehicle as my daughter's first car, and we did not want to make payments. Several cars were researched online (especially by my daughter who knew very little about what to look for) and those seen at Family Auto were attractive. We drove from Sanford to Melbourne and was greeted by "Chicago" Steve. We pointed out the cars we saw on the website and he honestly informed us of the problems associated with those cars and that they would not be good cars for our daughter. He showed us other cars that would but were still in our range for paying cash.

It was raining the night we saw most of the vehicles and were unable to test drive. We returned about a week later (after also seeing other cars at other dealers), test drove several cars and decided on a 2004 Honda Accord Coupe. We paid most of the money but a trip was needed to my bank to get the rest. Despite not receiving all of the money for the car, we still left with the car and paid the rest via telephone the next day.

Our entire experience with Family Auto and "Chicago" Steve, was nothing short of respectful, honest and accommodating. The car - so far, has been all we realistically expected. I cannot speak for other people and their experiences, nor can I vouch for any of the other salesmen, but our experience was top-notch, and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again.

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- I went to purchase car. Almost bought one but decided to take it to be inspected at car shop. After inspection I got bad news the car had multiple problems, starter, leak, bad tires, and they said they were jumping car a lot, so much you could see scratches.

With this said I could understand, ok maybe they did not know.... But due to them jumping makes them knowing, knowledgeable and dishonest. Not to mention when I left lot they had to start it to bring it around and the time before they had to start it as well. Sharks! Furthermore I drove car that had burning smell and he said just some oil spilled over, then all of a sudden smoke bellowed out of hood! I said right... oil? Hua? Lol.

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- I was looking around shopping for a car on a budget, since I had a accident and my car was a complete lost. I came across Family Auto Mart. I called the same day, spoke to Eric and asked a lot of questions because I live in Tampa almost 3 hours away and wanted to make sure I asked every detail regarding what is on there website. Eric informed me about a couple of cars that I had seen posted on their site. I was very clear on my budget and that I was not looking for payments. I wanted to purchase a cash deal. He said that the cars I was looking at indeed are cash deals. I also told him I was coming from Tampa and I wanted a good reliable car.

Two days later, I had a friend drive me to Melbourne. When I got there and asked for Eric they told me he was not there. I informed the sales person I was coming from Tampa and I had a couple of print outs of cars I wanted to see and I handed him the print out. His answer was, sorry these cars would not even make it out of the lot. After I came out of shock he told me that he had cars similar to the ones I was looking for but they would require payments. I told him that I was very clear when I called and spoke to Eric and that I have called at least twice making sure I was clear.

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- My name is **. I was referred by my son in law to Family Auto Mart stating that they are pretty good about dealing with cars. I was greeted by **. We spoke a little about what kind of vehicle I was looking for. He showed me a few vehicles and I narrowed it down to a Ford Escape. We took it for a test drive, and turned out very impressed with the SUV. When we got back to the office we started with the paperwork. ** assisted me with everything and boy oh boy we were wheeling and dealing with the final numbers.

When it was all done I drove home with my SUV... All I was saying to ** was "Thank you so much for helping me with my Birthday Gift..." Bunches and Bunches of Haloes and Kudos going out to ** at Family Auto Mart in Melbourne Fl...

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- My husband and I had the pleasure of purchasing our vehicle from Family Auto Mart, and I would like to share our experience. Upon arriving we were greeted by a sales representative by the name of ** and from then on the experience was lovely! He helped us to purchase a beautiful family vehicle and even though we had a few hiccups along the way, ** (the owner) took ownership and resolved the issue immediately. They were very honest and upfront and that shows great integrity and character! I highly recommend them if you're looking for honest, respectful people to do business with!

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- I purchased a 2003 Cadillac CTS from you guys on 7/25/2014. Since then I have had nothing but problems. I have given you guys numerous times to fix it, and to this day I am still having issues. 8/17/2014 car broke down on 528 going to Orlando. 8/18/2014 called several times no answer about car. 8/25/2014 engine light on again same codes as before. 9/5/2014 replaced bearings and brakes on entire car. 9/8/2014 engine light on again, same codes as before, took to Cadillac dealer. 9/11/2014 replaced calipers and brake hose. 10/1/2014 thermostat. 10/7/2014 the pulley and belt.

This is what I have paid personally out of my own pocket. 364.85 calipers and brake hose; 319.49 thermostat; 312.68 bearings and brakes; 206.01 to get it diagnosed at Cadillac and find out it is the same codes it has been throwing since before; 74.39 rental car 10/6-10/8; 69.54 rental car 9/8-9/10 plus what you guys are charging me from when I brought it in. I spent over $1700 repairing the car and now you say I still owe you 136.60 which I just paid you 200 2 days ago and you block my tag.

This is unheard of and the lady in the office cares less about the conversations me and Edwin have which promises me stuff and NEVER FOLLOWS THROUGH WITH THOSE PROMISES.
