TAMPA, FLORIDA -- Clerk Heather worked on 8/12/2012 and was the rudest person I have ever come across. I will never visit another Family Dollar. No customer service professionalism. Treated me with attitude though my whole transaction.

May we have more details about what happened? I have been to many stores where I have encountered a very rude employee, but in the same store at the same time I encountered an employee who went over and above and redeemed the place.

TOWANDA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I was shopping in your store and found it to be a very pleasant experience. The assistant manager was very helpful to me and all around pleasant, very cheery attitude. The clerk was polite and courteous. I plan on shopping here again.

LIBERTY, NORTH CAROLINA -- The store supposedly opened at 9:00 am.. its 9:20 am they are inside and I still have to wait for 5 min.. that turned to 10 min
that is a big problem they just lost 5 customers that came by.
they are not responsible enough.

It sounds like you waited/are waiting for it to open. Have a chat with the manager, and obtain an explanation. Post back if you get a chance. I don't know why they didn't open on time, which I assume is posted on the store front.
Anonymous on 06/01/2012:
When I worked retail, we sometimes opened the store a little late. There were numerous reasons for this: the manager came in late, our morning meeting ran late, the store was really messy and took a long time to clean, etc.
BiigAl on 06/01/2012:
LS> The reasons you wrote for late openings are probably correct but that does not make it appropriate. The manager should not come in late, the meetings should be conducted and over before opening time and the store should be properly cleaned before opening time.

I'm inclined to think that this is some sort of corporate policy, since the Family Dollar stores in our town all do the exact same thing.

CLEVELAND, OHIO -- I go to Family Dollar on pearl and state almost every day. I spend at least a hundred dollars a week there. The manager Dominic is rude and couldn't care less if there are 10 people in line with 1 cashier. I won't be going there again.

Fabric Bandages

IOWA -- Don't know where the previous reviewer is coming from, (maybe Egypt), but these bandages are the best on the market. And they are made so you can actually open the bandage without chewing the paper off as with other manufactuers. I'll buy nothing else!

SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA -- I shop at Family Dollar almost every day. Recently I accidentally grabbed an older check book that had 2 five in front of the check number on the bottom of the check which is a system they no longer use. It took about 5 days to realize the problem and I and the bank corrected it. Since then Family Dollar will no longer accept my checks saying I am a security risk. The two other places I had a problem with have no problem with my checks now just Family Dollar. This was an honest error and Family Dollar will lose a lot. I am a foster mom so I don't carry a lot of cash or it gets stolen so I can't change my lifestyle.

I used to spend a lot of money in that store and I can't believe this problem cannot be corrected. If not I will just take my business elsewhere.

Thank you
anne arre.

This makes NO sense :

"I am a foster mom so I don't carry a lot of cash or it gets stolen..."
Anonymous on 05/16/2009:
I can understand your frustration, however, WHY would you keep old checkbooks with inaccurate information? Things like this need to be shredded immediately.

I wrote ONE bad check in my life, many many years ago, for something like 17 bucks. It wasn't on purpose, my math skills sucked at the time. The check was written to a local pizza shop and from there forward, they refused my checks, even though I had been coming there for years. Yes, I was annoyed, but understood their position.
Principissa on 05/16/2009:
I realize it was a mistake, but still, you should have paid careful attention and checked the check before giving it to them. They are not obligated to take your check, I know a lot of places where I live will not take personal checks anymore because of getting so many bad checks.
Nohandle on 05/16/2009:
You didn't state but did Family Dollar have to contact you to inform you of the bad check? There are a number of businesses in my area that once burned never again. They might get their money back in the end but feel it's not worth their time and effort. Their account might have been charged a fee for accepting a ISF check, account closed whatever. It takes manhours to get it straight.
BokiBean on 05/16/2009:
This is an honest mistake on your part that could easily be made...hard way to learn a lesson. Maybe a debit card would help?

Ponie on 05/16/2009:
Boki, somehow I don't think spending her foster care money with a debit card is going to do any better. If she doesn't remember to toss out a checkbook that's no longer any good, I'm quite sure she won't know how to keep track of how much money is in her account. I think her anger should be directed at herself, not Family Dollar. I've been burned a couple of times by clients issuing NSF checks and will no longer accept anything but cash from them. Although the checks were made good in time, it's not worth the hassle.
TGT101 on 05/16/2009:
Every day? Seriously? Maybe you should buy stuff ahead of time.
Ytropious on 06/15/2009:
That kind of sucks, but I guess maybe you should upgrade to debit instead, it's faster for all involved. Also the dollar store isn't always the cheapest place to shop, I read an article about this not too long ago. Sure it's a dollar but you get less of the product, whereas for maybe another dollar fifty you get the full size product which ends up costing less per ounce/item. It's like a Sams Club or BJs, you pay less per item because you buy more, but on a smaller scale.

Rude manager

CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA -- Family Dollar on Branchview has the rudest manager I have ever been in contact with!! You can't ask a question without her biting your head off. She's verbally abusive to the customers... I've had people tell me they stopped shopping in that store because of her!! I shop there a lot because the store is close to my house, but I will go to Dollar General which is 6 miles away just to avoid Donna at store number 251!!

If you want to keep your customers happy you should replace her with someone that's able to provide good customer service!!! If you don't like being around people you should stay at home!!

Management Abuse of Employees
Posted on
HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT -- Reasons for the immediate termination of John Fabish, Store Manager of Store # 05055, located at 190 Farmington Ave, Hartford, CT 06105

1. John is verbally abusive toward employees. He makes threatening remarks, swears at and about employees, threatens to fire individuals and all employees as a group many times throughout each day. His verbal assaults are both intimidating and criminal, violating both Family Dollar policies regarding treatment of employees and producing a hostile work environment.

2. John is both unable and unwilling to perform the job as store manager without the continued assistance from his significant other to perform administrative managerial duties as well as putting the company at risk for liabilities that may occur as a result of this person’s counting of company funds, access to confidential information, and fiscal liability if she becomes injured while working on the loading and unloading of trucks during receiving and of U-boats while stocking shelves.
John also has continuously put the company at risk by having a minor child, his nine-year-old stepdaughter, in the store in the early morning hours prior to opening as well as during working hours.

3. John is unable and unwilling to provide a work schedule for employees, thereby violating both State of CT and US Labor Laws. There has been no posted schedule for the store for several months. Employees are expected to call daily to serve at his will to determine if they are to work for that day.

4. During work, John has been under the influence of alcohol. The smell of alcohol has been made evident to all employees, security personnel and customers on too many occasions.

5. John violates Labor laws daily in regards to denial of lunch breaks and other breaks. He has consistently required employees to stay in the store, sometimes for several hours, after close without pay, “off the clock” time.

6. John has called employees at home and made threatening remarks, swearing at and about employees as well as making threats to fire the person. He has called an employee’s home looking for other employees that do not live there and also has made threatening remarks.

7. John has repeatedly violated the privacy of female employees by walking into the women’s restroom while female employees have been using the facilities. This is considered sexual haressment by the female employees.

8. Joe Russo, District Manager, that is responsible for this store and John Fabish’s immediate supervisor has been repeatedly been made aware of these actions and has also failed to address the situation.

What jerk puts something like this out on the internet( of course anonymous)? A disgruntled employee (or ex) perhaps? It doesn't even matter if it's all true. This is a letter you write to his boss' boss or Human Resources, not a public forum dedicated to consumer advocation. I hope you do still work there so not only can John sue you for slander, but have the pleasure of firing you too. You are a petty low life for dragging workplace politics to a site like this.
Anonymous on 07/22/2002:
I am happy for you that you have nothing better to do than constantly "police" this online forum and use it to make yourself feel better? Putting others down, calling names and poking fun at those who misspell words make you a shining example of a human being (by your standards) I am sure. Save a clean spot in heaven next to you for me, would ya?
Anonymous on 07/22/2002:
If you actually had evidence of all these wrong doings you would have been to a lawyer a long time ago and sued. More likely is that your a bitter angry person who like slandering people publicly. GET A LIFE YOU STUPID LOSER.
Anonymous on 07/22/2002:
To the touchy reviewer Loser Feedback Police(AKA the original complaintant)., I don't spend my time here "putting people down,"etc. In fact, I rarely come to this site. I am putting YOU down. Your words scream out ignorant and I couldn't help myself.
Anonymous on 07/22/2002:
Actually I am not the original complainant, so you weren't putting ME down at all. And I apologize if you are not the person who always slams the regular Joe on this site. I am sick of seeing people who have legitimate gripes constantly being put down on this site. It's very sad that someone has to do that to make themselves feel better.
Anonymous on 07/23/2002:
People with legitimate complaints do not get slammed here. The people with stupid and unreasanable letters do get slammed. That is the point of the feedback section of this site. If you can't handle criticism, then you shouldn't post here.
Anonymous on 07/25/2002:
I agree with most of the reviewers. When I read this, the first thing that pops in my mind is this does not belong here. To what good to consumers is someone childishly ranting about their job, which I doubt they still have.
Anonymous on 08/20/2002:
I agree, everywhere you go on this site - the LOSER - is there putting his ignorant comments in. At least he named him or herself correctly - LOSER! Don't let him hurt your feelings, he is just a disgruntled little jerk!
Anonymous on 08/28/2002:
If I were to vote, I would agree with the complainant. But, agreeing with Loser Police and others, this is NOT the forum for this type of complaint. Now if it had been rephrased (subtly) in the voice of a customer.....
Anonymous on 04/24/2003:
Sounds like Mr. Fabish also needs a good ass kicking.
Anonymous on 08/31/2004:
You have the intestinal fortitude to slander, my guess an ex boss, current employer, ex.....You don't mind putting his name out in public, but keep your "Id" secret.....Did this make you feel better.....You have no control over your own life you want to slander another........

Here are the reasons that the OP wants John Fired.

1. The OP has been disciplined by him for bad performance and want's revenge. He was threatened with termination for a good reason but claims that it is unlawful. Well when you chat with friends and tell customers to drop dead that is not helping the business so John has a very good reason to tell you to shape out or ship out.

2. Poor John has a child but no one to look after. The only danger the child is in is from the OP who hates the child because it is his manager's daughter. The OP has verbally assaulted the child several times, perhaps used profanity towards her because the child looks so much like John. John told her to leave his child alone or there would be trouble. The people that John has hired for the management jobs are just doing their job and the OP is jealous of them so because he did not get their job. The real reason he did not get the job was because he is a slacker not because the manager hired friends and was unfair.

3.The OP has missed work because he said he was not scheduled. The reason John emailed the schedule and the OP was too lazy to take check her email. At the very beginning John told the emplployees that he would need their email addresses so he can save paper and email their schedule. THe OPthought he was too good and important to check his email that he needed a schedule just for him.

4. The op sneaks in alchoil and spikes John's drink in the hopes of two events. I that John gets fired for his "problem" and 2 so that the child is taken away from him and the OP can have his revenge by hurting John. What worse way to hurt a father than by making up lies and telling Children's Aid and CPS that the child is in danger and needs to be removed from the home for her safety.

5 The OP takes twice he alloted time for breaks but gets paid for it so John makes him clock out because he gets paid for his extra long breaks. Either that or the OP calls calling his wife for several hours after the store closes work but John calls it social time and takes it off his pay check. The OP often does not show up for work. John tells him if this keeps up than he will no longer be employed. Mr Fabish takes this personally, how dare John make expect employees to make work their top priority and do their job properly. If the op feels like staying home than he will very well do as he pleases. If The OP wants to goof off and talk with friends while at work than John has no right to stop him because the OP feels that he should get special privlages. If The OP wants to use company time to call his wife and consider it "work" who is John to tell him to get his lazy ass off the phone and get back to work. In reality the OP needs to grow up and get a reality check and learn that work is not for goofing off but for working. That is why it is called work.

7. The only reason that John had to walk in the woman's washroom was to get the perverted OP out. THe perverted op was taking pictures of them in the washroom and posting them on the internet. John told the OP to stop because the op is the one sexually harassing and abuse the female employees, also the OP has followed the women to their cars and asked them over for coffee, dinner and sex because he was mad at his wife. The OP cheats on his wife.
If the OP is a female than the OP invited John to the washroom to have sex. When John said no she took it personally (even though she is already married) and said he was sexually assauting her when she is doing it to him.

8. John had a talk with Joe and Joe agreed that the OP was not up to company standards the op thinks that everyone is against them and now wants Joe as well as John fired for just doing their jobs and telling him or her that her job was not good.
Anonymous on 04/24/2007:
For the second person that wrote this aonymous, you are a chicken you are not really using your real identity because you are chicken. You are also a loser that does not like being.disciplined for doing a bad job so you make up a bunch of lies about your boss to get him fired, hoping the new boss will let you do a crappy job. When others point out your bad attitude you attack them because who the heck are they to tell you to do a proper job, if you want to do a crappy job than you will very well do as you please. Also for the person saying this is a reasonable complaint it is not it is just a sour employee that does not think his boss has a right to discipline him when he does a terrible job so he makes up a bunch of childish lies to get the poor man fired. THe only LOSER is the OP and the real life low life friends he told to support him to make himself feel big and powerful. The only person that needs a good ASS kicking is the OP, from his "mommy" and boss until he does his job right.
