No package & Tracking literally worthless
By -

I ordered a large shipment of candles that were shipped on 5/24/06 FedEx Ground Home Delivery. As of the date of shipping the estimated delivery date was 5/27/06 (Saturday). On 12am on Saturday it shows as leaving GA (I'm in FL)... and that's the last the tracking shows.

Since then I've called FedEx a few times with absolutely no help. The only thing they can tell me is exactly what I already see on the tracking info which still leaves me at "Where is my package??" If you notice as of today 5/30 not only has there been no updates, they've also removed the estimated delivery date of 5/27/06 and there is NO estimated delivery.

When I called on Saturday I was told by the guy I spoke with that it was in FL. When I called today the guy I spoke with said it's on its way to FL (going by the tracking). I'm expecting the tracking to be "adjusted" Each time I've called the support comments "this is ground home delivery..." like "WHY ARE YOU CALLING???" And every time I think... WHY ARE YOU OFFERING THE SERVICE???

I can't fathom why FedEx is having such a hard time with this. UPS has never complained about a service they offer, and they live up to their name. FedEx on the other hand seems to offer it in competition, but doesn't really want to be bothered by it.

I don't know about everyone else, but for me - I believe if FedEx actually told people what their Home Delivery really entitled you to (which I believe should be the same standard as every other service) they would lose a lot of their business to UPS which offers the same service on a higher and more reliable level.

Federal Express Ground
By -

KEY WEST, FLORIDA -- I have a complaint against Federal Express Ground and its local agent, the “Key West Mail Room.” On March 7, 2005 at the end of my vacation I gave a package containing my exercise shoes and clothes to the “Key West Mail Room” at 1075 Duval Square, Suite C 21, Key West, Florida, 33040-3188 for them to send to my home.

I paid them about $17.16 for Federal Express. Even though my exercise shoes, clothes, and carrying bag are worth about $175 new, I told them that because they were used the value was about $100. When I arrived home the package had not arrived. I used the Fed Ex tracking service to learn that as of Mar 11, 2005 4:42 AM the package was on a FedEx vehicle for delivery.

After a few more days I contacted FedEx and asked them to check to see if my package was still on the truck. Instead of finding my package, they told me to file a claim with the “Key West Mail Room.” After a few phone calls to Key West, I was then told by them to file a claim on-line with FedEx.

FedEx assigned me a case number. Since then they have insisted that I produce the original invoices, for my clothes, shoes and bags. This must be a joke. I don't think the FedEx corporate big shots have original invoices for their $3,000 suits and $300 neckties. I am sure that they do not have original invoices for their $2 boxer shorts. If this is not a joke, it is a scam to keep people from filing legitimate claims. I wonder how many consumers have been discouraged from filing a claim by this tactic. Are there enough to support a class action suit?

Made a Mistake With Putting Ground Box in Express Box

NEWBURGH, NEW YORK -- I had a bunch of textbook rentals to return. Every one was going UPS except for one. I received return labels, placed them on the boxes and was happy to find out that there were drop boxes right down the street from my office at 41 Dolson Ave Middletown, NY. Dropped everything off and all of the UPS boxes arrived without a problem within days. I then looked at the FedEx and found out that FedEx boxes are for express only!

I have the tracking number that was on it but since they don't scan when pick up ground in express there is no record of this package. Called customer service and was told it should show up, the express guys take it back and the ground guys pick it up etc.

Well it is over a week and a half and nothing! I went to the ground terminal and they sent me to the express terminal where a nice man (manager) looked for my package but could not find it. He also spoke to the driver of the route who said he gets 4-5 boxes per day in that box for ground. Maybe they should mark the box better?! Anyway, they didn't have it so I went back to ground and they were closed for the day.

I am beginning to think that this FedEx driver just dumped my box somewhere. How else could it just vanish into thin air? It is clearly marked with the college bookstore as well as my return address (which one of the customer service reps on the phone said that the zip code for Poughkeepsie 12603 wasn't a valid zip code!! That's scary. I just want my package and I will pay extra for their inconvenience - I will have to pay 130.00 to replace this book that I didn't even use - thanks Professor :( Is there anything I can do?

Forgery, Fraud And Breach Of Contract
By -

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- FedEx has a pretty high wall separating them from their customers. I caught their driver forging a signature, inventing a name and breaching our delivery contract not to mention losing a simple envelope that required direct signature. The folks at the 800 ground customer service number are friendly and of no help doing anything more than what the internet offers except placing a call tag and later a trace agent on a letter they claim was delivered and signed for that was magically retrieved two days later from the same ghost that signed for it originally.

The driver must have been so shocked at seeing a ghost twice that he/she placed the envelope back on the FedEx truck and since disappeared. (The ghost could not write - only make a 1/4 inch pen stroke on the FedEx pad and the ghost has a new first name no-one since great grand dad in 1860 used it 900 miles away). Since FedEx ground customer service is no help and insisted the package was delivered I resorted to other means to locate it.

Finally I was able to guess which terminal the driver worked out of (terminal 381). I called so many times I finally penetrated their armor by eventually guessing an extension number (even the receptionist only uses voice mail) and I got a nice lady in H.R. who is digging in to help me.

We'll see but it has been 8 days and many, many hours on my part not to mention the $45 I spent to get the letter hopefully delivered. When FedEx loses your package, you'll need a private investigator to find it and don't use more than one call to the 1-800 line. If they can't help you'll only annoy both parties. Find the last terminal that touched it and bug the daylights out of every person there every hour, every day until somebody takes personal ownership.

Very Surprised and Disappointed
By -

NY, NEW YORK -- I plan to ship over 35 boxes FedEx Ground. So far 8 reps have told me FedEx will NOT pick up from my residence, that I have to drop off the packages, and 6 reps have told me FedEx WILL pick up, all I need to do is "call FedEx" (and pay $2.30 per box according to one rep).

I was given an address to drop off the packages, 621 West 48th Street in NYC at 11th Avenue. I went to that location to check out the drop-off situation so I could advise my movers and there is no FedEx office there. An area businessman told me the office was around the corner on 49th Street, and yes there is one there.

There I was told me they didn't have a phone number, and before I could drop anything off I would have to call the main number ahead of time to let the office know the packages were arriving at the 49th Street location. They also told me a barcode had to be on all of the boxes when I dropped them off, even though it is a FedEx drop point and some might go differently than FedEx Ground.

Wondering what might be my next surprise I called the main number to ask about the requirement to call them and was told by the rep who answered that they didn't notify offices ahead of time about shipments, and just to drop them off. I didn't dare ask about the requirement to have the barcode or FedEx label already on the packages - just do it as requested and let them change it if necessary seems the safest route.

On this site I read about a Sony laptop being stolen and the advice to get a receipt for packages dropped off. Good idea. But I'd like to add that at least one rep has told me that unless you insure a package FedEx won't pay over $100 reimbursement, whether you have proof or not that it didn't arrive. Why don't I switch now to UPS and just redo all the labels? Because I'm not that sure UPS is any better.

THEFT of package by DRIVER!!!
By -

NAPLES, FLORIDA -- I paid almost $200 for an item and FedEx Ground never ever attempted delivery. They claim they attempted delivery on the 28th of November at 8:23 pm. My mother and brother were home with 2 large dogs that go nuts if someone even attempts to come near the house. I called FedEx Ground within 15 minutes of the supposed attempt and asked them to call the driver and let him know he made a mistake. They told me they had no way to contact the driver (yeah right) and they would notify them in the morning. I gave them my cell number for the driver, left a note on the door stating to KNOCK LOUD.

The next day they updated the tracking info as delivered, no signature requested. I again called within 10 minutes of the tracking update and informed them I never received it. Once again 2 people in the house with 2 dogs at time of supposed delivery. Not only that, my brother was actually in the driveway when they say they delivered. I know because I was on the phone with him. Since then I made multiple calls to FedEx Ground and was told they would call back which never came.

I called the police after 48 hours of customer No-Service and reported the package stolen by the driver. They tried to give the officer the run around at the local delivery office until she sternly informed them to get a manager asap or she would be in their office with an obstruction warrant. LOL. I have notified the Better Business Bureau as well. I notified the shipper of the problem and they filed a Shipper Claim over 2 weeks ago. To this day I am without my birthday present. My mother is out $200 for NOTHING!!!

The Shipper will end up having to either forfeit my future business with them or credit the purchase. Never use this company for shipping and notify your business contacts to ship with a different shipper or lose your business. Companies like this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and have their business licenses yanked when they act like this. I advise everyone to call your local police to file a report with their fraud department. They might try to talk you out of it. But I can assure you after they read all the complaints here they will be happy to go after them.

What Ground Delivery??
By -

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- Once again FedEx has highly disappointed me. I once sang your praise and recommended you over the sluggish service of the USPS and the abysmal package-squashing UPS. It was once a pleasure to be able to run around the corner and pick up a package which I had missed that day. With UPS you had to call and arrange for pickup the next day.

But things have certainly changed for the worse. Last Thursday I had a package shipped from NY to Phila. The shipper used your Home shipping service (Ground) I am guessing to insure the package could be delivered on Sat. if indeed Friday's proposed delivery date was missed. I was assured that the package would be delivered on Fri., March 11 as was also stated on the FedEx tracking site. Friday came and went without delivery. Sat. morning I called FedEx asking about the package and was told they didn't know why it hadn't been delivered but would certainly guarantee it would arrive that day since Home delivery service is available on Sat. and I should wait until 8pm.

Sat. came and went with no delivery again. Today I learn there is NO Mon. delivery with this service and I have to wait until Tuesday now and CANNOT pick up the package myself. Now, mind you, I could have driven the 90-min. and picked it up myself. This is how absurd this scenario is.

I do not know what has happened to your company in the past several years but it is not the same courier I used to know and enjoy using. This is not the first time FedEx has dropped the ball and sadly has forced me back into using UPS and the Post Office. At least they can keep a somewhat tight schedule. Shame on you FedEx. You are stealing people's money and costing them valuable time. Five days for a package to travel less than 100 miles is inexcusable and totally unacceptable.

Lying delivery driver
By -

I ordered a large package which I could not purchase locally because I have no way of hauling it. I took the day off of work, today, to ensure that I do not miss delivery. I heard a vehicle coming up the road, looked out the window and watched the delivery driver drive up my road, turn around in the circle and drive right past me, no stopping. I called customer service concerned that this may have been the driver with my package, the agent said not to worry it should arrive shortly. I checked the tracking online multiple times and ended up seeing the driver said I was not home.

So I called back. The customer service agent was polite and did everything she could. She ended up transferring me to the local office where I spoke with another woman who said she knows the driver and he is not that kind of a person. So I guess that makes me a liar. Apparently the driver called in saying that he stopped and has a door tag number and cannot come back. A door tag number says nothing about the driver's activity, only that he scanned a piece of paper. So basically I paid FedEx to deliver a package to me, I lost an entire day's pay (and wasted hours watching for him), and ended up just being frustrated and upset.

How can FedEx Ground Screw You
By -

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA -- I have been tracking my package delivery on the web. As today was the estimated delivery date, I stayed home to accept and sign for the package. Later on in the afternoon, while I was still anxiously awaiting delivery, I checked the website--at 12:50 PM it showed "delivery exception", "customer not available." I have been home all day; no one rang my buzzer.

I checked my front entrance and no door tag was left. I called FedEx to verify they had the correct address; the address they had was error-free. Though it was only about 5:15 PM when I called, I was told the package could not be held for pick-up the next day. I will not be home tomorrow (Saturday) and, as FedEx Ground does not deliver on Sundays or Mondays, I will have to wait at least an additional four days for my package. I have had no issues with UPS, USPS or DHL. In the future I will not order products from merchants who use FedEx Ground.

FedEx holding my packages hostage?
By -

BARTLESVILLE, OKLAHOMA -- FedEx has had my package at the local delivery center for over 5 days. It has been 10 days since shipped, but the status keeps showing it is "loaded truck but no attempt made to deliver, scheduled for next day". I have called and called customer service and written emails trying to get this package plus the one they have had for 3 days on the same truck. Customer Service said "don't use Ground...only Express" if you want delivery on time.

When they finally attempted to deliver today status shows "incorrect address". Didn't seem to be a problem from the same people to me 3 weeks ago when FedEx delivered to me! Maybe I moved and didn't know it!! Now they say I have to wait for US mail for a letter from FedEx with a phone # to call them about directions to my house. Of course, they can't give you that number any other way! I'm sure the people who ship with FedEx don't have a clue what is happening on the other end. Give me UPS any day!!!
