Fleetwood Manufactured Homes are bad news
Posted by Ed and Glenda on 02/03/2005
BENTON, KENTUCKY -- We purchased our manufactured home in June 2003. The house was set up in September 2003. Since that time we have encountered numerous problems. We have a sagging, leaking roof, shower stall doors that have fallen out and hit us in the head and shoulder. Carpet that has been installed incorrectly (after having to be replaced), contractors sent by the comapany harrassing and badgering, then refusing to do the work they were hired to do. Windows and doors that do not fit correctly (one window not even attached), fireplace flue installed incorrectly which now leaks, sagging ceiling panels. This company has breached the warranty. We were told this was the best warranty around. Check the web site and see the bragging. We are not the only people with this problem. We have numerous complaints on this company and the retailer, Coachman Homes in Missouri. PSC has done and inspection and Fleetwood hired there own inspector and these problems were found with these inspections. We have spent $5,000 on an attorney that has been useless. The retailer now wishes us to vacate for two weeks (AT OUR EXPENSE of $9,000.00) so they can replace the straps and anchors, level the home correctly, place the electric line for the AC in the protective conduit, on and on. This to correct problems that should have never occirred or done right to begin with. We delayed moving in for a month so some of these issues could be dealt with. The refrigerator did not work and was finally replaced witha two year old refrigerator full of roaches. So another expense has been an exterminator. My wife has MS and has had two relapses since this all started. This has gotten to be an impossible situation and we have been dealing with this for nineteen months.

WE PURCHASED A FLEETWOOD HOME OCTOBER 2010. HAVE HAD COMPLAINT SINCE THE DAY THEY DELIVERED OUR HOME. IT WAS PURCHASED AT STARKS BROTHERS IN BENTON KENTUCKY AND MANUFACTURED AT THE LAFAYETTE TN PLANT. OUR SHINGLES ALMOST IMMEDIATELY STARTED BLOWING UP. FLEETWOOD WORKED ON THE TWICE AND THE BLEW OFF THE ROOF. WE HAVE CEILINGS YOU CAN GET DIZZY LOOKING AT THEY ARE SO WAVY. YOU CAN SEE EVERY JOIST IN THEM. WHEN WE TOOK THE SIDING OFF ONE END, IT LOOKED LKE A STORM HIT IT. THE FOAM BOARD HAD GAPS IN IT AND DID NOT EVEN GO UP THE THE CEILING. THROW AWAY PIECES WERE USED AT THE TOP. ON THE OTHER END THE SIDING BULGES UP UNDER THE ROOF WHERE THERE IS NOTHING TO CONNECT IT TO. MY HUSBAND PUT PLASTIC IN THE HOLE TO KEEP BIRDS AND RAIN OUT. OUR SHOWER DOORS FALL OFF TRACK EVERY TIME THEY ARE MOVED. THE WALL IN THE LIVING ROOM HAD A TWO BY SIX BULGED INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE PANNELING. THE FLOORS MOVE IN PLACES WHEN YOU WALK ON THEM. wE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING SIX MONTHS TO GET THESE THINGS FIXED. iLLINOIS DEPT OF PUBLIC HEALTH IS COMING OUT, AND BY THE WAY I WAS TOLD HE IS NOT THE GUY TO HELP ME. gUESS WHO TOLD ME TO DEAL WITH HIM AND GAVE ME THE FORM TO FILL OUT. YOU GUESSED IT. FLEETWOOD. SO I HAVE ALSO CALLED LISA MADIGANS OFFICE. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FILING MY COMPLAINT WITH HER. AND FLEETWOOD DID NOT USE BIG ENOUGH WIRING. WHEN I RUN MY VACUMME CLEANER THE LIGHTS DIM AND STAY THAT WAY UNTIL I TURN THE VACUMME OFF. IT IS A 12 AMP. IN SUMMARY I HAVE A ROOF THAT NEEDS TOTALLY REPLACED. CEILINGS THAT NEED REPLACED .ELECTRICAL WIRING THAT NEEDS REPLACED. WINDOWS THAT ARE LEAKING. SHOWER REPLACED. WALL TO BE REPLACED. OUR HOME IS EIGHT MONTHS OLD
