HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA -- Always love eating the peanut butter pieces... until one day I took some in my hand from the bag and bit down on them and one was hard and it broke my tooth!! I called them and they offered me $50 since they said they can't do anything because I don't have the product now or the part I bit on! Seriously?! Like that's gonna help with the dentist bill...

Larva in Our Kisses

PENNSYLVANIA -- I bought 2 bags of spring time kisses for my children's Easter baskets. My daughter came to me with one and it had worms in it! We checked and found some in the other kisses. Hershey said it wasn't their fault. They said it was poor shipping or/and storage that caused it. I was told to contact the store I bought them from. I will never buy chocolate manufactured by Hershey.

Empty peanut butter cup

HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA -- O.M.G. You have probably eaten 10 thousand peanut butter cups in your life if they are your favorite. The factory makes millions of them a day. You found ONE empty peanut butter cup in your whole pathetic, glutton filled life, and you have the audacity to state that you won't buy them anymore and trash talk the company. waaaaa, waaaaa... great dentist!!! what a hippocrit! HERSHEYS occasionally has QA problems. What percentage of orders do you think are wrong out of 10,000 at McDonalds? about 3%? or 300?

Never delivered order, poor customer service
By -

HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA -- I placed an order for a corporate gift to one of my best clients, on 12/09/04. I requested a delivery date of 12/21/04 so that it would arrive in plenty of time for their company Christmas party on 12/22. When I called my client during their party on 12/22, I was very dismayed to find that there was no delivery from Hershey. I then placed a call to their customer service line to inquire about my order.

I found that not only was the delivery not made on 12/21, it still had not shipped! I was told that it would go out today for delivery tomorrow 12/23. That's great, except for the fact that they are closed for Christmas tomorrow and Friday! According to the Hershey website, I could have placed this order on 12/18, and still have had the requested delivery date met. Obviously, this new delivery date was not acceptable.

I guess my biggest surprise was the attitude of the "customer service?" personnel. There was no offer to do anything to correct their screw-up. They could have offered to deliver the item after the holidays with a note about their error, or something! There was never an offer of any kind to do anything other than to say "we're sorry, we've been real busy." Translated - "Hey buddy, we're Hershey. We don't have to do anything that resembles customer service, we're too big for that".

In closing, I would suggest that you not order anything from Hershey's gifts that requires it to be there at any specific time. I placed this order two weeks in advance, and it was only going across the state of PA to my client in the Phila. area. It is clear from my experience that they will indeed make mistakes, as do all people sometimes, but they will make absolutely no effort to make anything right for the customer, once the mistake has been made. Needless to say, this is my last order to them.

Shrinking Reese's Cups in Old Packaging!

HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA -- What the... Either my hands have grown to Hulk proportions, or Reese's is cutting back on the size of their peanut butter cups! These have long been my favorite! But, I feel I'm getting 50% less candy. What is behind the dramatic reduction in the size? For heaven's sake... increase the price, but don't deceive the public with the regular, normal packaging, with a tiny peanut butter cup inside! This is over the top! My family, my friends, and my associates all know Reese's is my favorite, and will often "bless" me with one, but I'm honestly considering Another favorite.

Worm in a Hershey chocolate miniature
By -

My wife is a chocoholic and insists on Hershey produces until......... After tearing off the aluminum wrapper she saw a worm or rather 1/2 a worm as the other half was drilling into the chocolate. Needless to say that was the last Hershey product she will ever buy but what confuses me is how does a worm get into the chocolate before it is wrapped in foil? Like what kind of quality control is employed?

Where are all the snazzy cameras and computers that are supposed to eliminate contaminates from food? I mean this was a tan worm about 3/32" in diameter and 5/8" long. When Hershey became aware of the worm problem they offered to send $25.00 to offset my concern! $25.00? Give me a break!

LIVE WORMS in my chocolate bar!!
By -

SOUTH, FLORIDA -- I recently purchased a CADBURY FRUIT & NUT CHOCOLATE BAR and was watching TV and eating it when something seemed unusual... I put my glasses on and was horrified to see LIVE WORMS in my partially eaten Candy Bar! (spent the rest of the evening heaving every time I thought about it, and thoroughly inspect everything before I reluctantly eat now).

For those who may not believe this, I do have photos. I took the candy bar and receipt to CVS where it was only purchased the prior day, they apologized and offered a $10 gift certificate. I refused as I merely wanted them to ensure this didn't happen again. I wrote Cadbury in Europe who told me to contact HERSHEY'S in the U.S., I felt like they were brushing it under the rug and tried to pacify me by sending a letter and a check for $50 (haven't cashed it). They also tried to comfort me by stating they checked with the medical community and that the worms would die in the digestive process.

I have the remainder of the candy bar WORMS INCLUDED in my freezer (proof) and have contacted the local newspaper... I've checked with other local stores that carry the product, they claimed that no Hershey's reps. have contacted them warning them or requesting they check their products for contamination.

PS: For those of you who ask why legal action wasn't taken... it's because they say they cannot prove any physical damage was done and will not pursue the issue. SO, MY WORD OF ADVISE TO ALL YOU CHOCOLATE LOVERS IS LIKE THE OLD SAYING "LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP" but "LOOK BEFORE YOU EAT". I'm writing this letter because I feel like the entire situation was minimized by all parties involved.

Inappropriate TV visual in commercial for M&M's
By -

PENNSYLVANIA -- My complaint concerns the visual image of the Hershey M&M trying to prevent itself from being placed into an oven! I find the visual image to be quite disturbing. The background music/audio is saying something about all for love... and then you see the Hershey M&M yelling and holding on so as not to be placed into an oven.

If you Google "child placed into oven" or "woman places child in oven" you will find that some children have suffered and some have died as a result. I was first made aware of such a sad story back in 1995... Chicago Tribune... A mother placed child in an oven in the school's cafeteria! The mental image has remained with me ever since I heard about it on the evening news! I think this commercial should be pulled. It's too disturbing... especially when you can see and hear the M&M screaming and trying not to be placed in the oven.

Horrible Bitter Taste
By -

We purchased a bottle of Hershey's Sugar Free chocolate syrup. The label states 'Genuine Chocolate Flavor.' We each had a small bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. All of us noted a very bitter taste that did not taste at all like chocolate. We have used Hershey's Syrup for years, and until this bottle, we have been pleased with the product. We believe the formulation of the syrup caused the off taste. In the future, we will buy the regular chocolate syrup. The small amount of calories the syrup will add to a dish of ice cream is negligible, and chocolate syrup is fat free anyway. The expiration date on the bottle is August of 2010.

I didn't find and elephant in my REESE'S bag...so where did my peanut butter go?
By -

HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA -- I bought a bag of festively wrapped Reese's peanut butter cups for the holidays, and enjoyed with co-workers at my dental office, where we have always been crazy about chocolate like most others in our field (dental co-horts, you know it's true!) until, I unwrapped one little gem that seemed deficient in size, but I thought no further about it until taking a bite.

There was NO peanut butter in the middle... at all, which made it just about stone solid AND I almost broke a tooth on it! I found NO ELEPHANT in the bag, so it has to be faulty production line of some sort. I have long been a fan of chocolate, preferring Hershey's over Lindt AND Nestle's!

Frustrating that I couldn't even FIND a place to voice my concern or get my money back from Hershey's... I came to this site. Now when I recommend chocolate as the best sweet for my patients to snack on (since it melts and doesn't stick to teeth so there is less cariogenic effects) I will be sure to advise NO REESE's CUPS or HERSHEY'S PRODUCTS since they apparently don't care if consumers are satisfied or not. Shame on you Hershey's.
