Where's the Pork??
Posted by on
NORWOOD, MASSACHUSETTS -- WOW! Where do I begin? We bought three Family Buffet Frozen Meals to keep on hand for nights we didn't feel like really cooking. One of the meals we had last week and it wasn't even listed on the website....Turkey
& Gravy. It wasn't terrible but Banquet makes better.

Tonight we had the Baked Beans w/Pulled Pork and BBQ Sauce. After removing it from the oven and stirring it some, I went and looked at the box again. Servings per container: about FIVE....wow, really? There was roughly two small spoonfuls of the pulled pork, enough for on a hamburger bun (ONE bun!) As for the beans and sauce, I would say 3 - 4 very small servings. I passed and had something else, so there would be enough for Starlord. He's not a big eater, but our three year old grand-daughter would have eaten what he had and asked for more!

Starlord said that the pork was almost the consistency of shoe leather, it bordered on being jerky! The beans were passable....well they met the garbage disposal when we finished eating, I tried them and there is no way he will get something like that again.

I don't recall exactly what we paid for the three meals we got, but I can guarantee that we won't be getting them again. They were bought at Grocery Outlet for either $4.99 or $3.99. The last package we have is Charbroiled Patties in Gravy...I think that box will make a trip to the resident pantry here...we have a room for boxed and canned goods and a refrigerator and freezer for perishables that the residents can get groceries if caught between paydays with no food. Its free to the residents, with no pay back necessary, everyone donates what they can, when they can and some are faced with situations like we had tonight, there is more in our freezer but its not going into OUR oven. There are enough single guys here that don't really cook who might actually like the stuff!

The website for what we had tonight is: http://www.familybuffet.com/#/baked-beans-with-pulled-pork-and-bbq-sauce
they list several other types, but there is no "Contact Us" or anything on their website: www.Family Buffet.com

I'll be sending them a snail mail letter tomorrow!

Thank you so much, Andrea! We definitely will NOT be buying any more of their food!

Nice alert for others Crystal. I'm unfamiliar with the brand but many among us enjoy having something in the freezer for one of those days. No matter the reason, we just want to pull something out and be done and finished. I seldom buy frozen meals because most have too much sodium for my taste but if you find one you like put a few in the freezer. They really are handy, but not if you can't eat them.

A very helpful review, Crystal!

I have never seen this brand in any of my local grocery stores. And I do buy frozen dinners weekly This is something I will avoid. I'll stick to my 89 cent Banquet dinners.

We do enjoy the Hungry Man, Marie Calendar's, and some of the Banquet meals. As far as Banquet gots, they also have meat and gravy trays in the freezer section and On-Cor makes some pretty tasty trays.

No word back from the company though, guess they don't care!

Yesterday I bought Family Buffet "BBQ Bonless Ribs" at Walmart the package states that there are five (5) patties in the box, both on the front of the package and again in the Nutrition Factbox on the back. Later two of my great grand kids stopped by and I thought that I would them a treat. I followed the directions on the box and so did not find out that there were ONLY THREE (3) patties until I pulled back the film to turn over the patties for re-nuking. I'm returning the box and receipt to Walmart for a refund. Since I bought them at Walmart do you think that Home Market is a Chinese Co. and just have an office in MA as a cover?

I am so mad, I tried to call the company. It says turkey and gravey plainly on the front of the box and after cooking it, there was only gravy. Buyers beware. You might think you are getting a good deal but they are losers.

I bought the Family Buffet Broccoli and Cheese Entree because the box looked so tasty! I would have enjoyed eating the box better!! This stuff is Nasty!! I need it erased from my memory and tastebuds.
