Back in February I ordered a bathroom lighting sconce and some knobs for my cabinets. I couldn't pass up the great prices. I received my lighting in good time and it was perfect. However, the knobs were delayed because Hickory Hardware, the place they were coming from, was in the process of moving to a new facility. So, I waited. Still no knobs. After a couple of months of waiting I called again and told them I was patient, but the knobs should have been here. They told me they were no longer doing business with Hickory Hardware and that they would refund my money. That was over a month ago and still no refund. My e-mails go unanswered. My phone calls go to voicemail.

Luckily I am only out $25. I tried to dispute this with my credit card company, but since this happened over 60 days ago there is nothing they can do. My advise to you is that if you haven't received your merchandise, dispute this immediately with your credit card company. I want these people stopped.

BEWARE! - HomeAnnex - SCAM!
Posted by ASCape on 05/19/2009
Don't give HomeAnnex any of your business, that is if they are still in business. I normally don't write reviews. I am so outraged, that I feel compelled to warn others of the blatant bad business practices that I have experienced with HomeAnnex.

I have been doing business with HomeAnnex over the past 8 years. I have recommended them repeatedly. I have never run into the difficulties with any company, let alone HomeAnnex, in trying to get ANY type of RESPONSE to an inquiry. I attempted to place an order on line. I was contacted by a sales representative to finalize the order. After a day or two, the representative informed me that the card was declined (this was a client's card so I couldn't verify) To make a long story short, we decided to buy locally. However, the card was charged, $3,051.00 to be exact (declined card remember?)Of course, the order was never placed and now no one will answer the phone or repeated emails. The toll free number is DISCONNECTED, all of the call extensions go directly into voice mail, if you hold for sales (being sneaky) you hold for at least 20 minutes being told that you have only 17, 9, 5, 1 more minutes in the queue only to finally get dumped into a voice mailbox.

We are going to deal with credit card company directly to dispute the charge. Now my client has to deal with a company that they never did business. What a waste of time. Worse yet, there is little I can do to help other than supplying the information that I have from email correspondence.

Thanks HomeAnnex for your lack of professionalism in an industry that is struggling in this difficult economic environment!

My advice, don't give HomeAnnex or any of her affiliate web site companies any of your hard-earned money.

Scam - Fraud - Deceptive Business Practices
Posted by Scott3¢ on 04/25/2009
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- Homeannex aka Decorative Hardware Direct, has been ripping people off for over 4 years.

My experience with them is just like everybody else. So instead of reiterating what everybody said, I'm going to tell you what EVERYBODY should be doing to put Homeannex out of business once and for all.

1. Cancel your order and insist on a full refund for the items you did not receive. From the complaints I've read on various merchant ratings sites, I have come to the conclusion that Homeannex never had the intention to ship the products you ordered. They intentionally delay your order to the point of you wanting to cancel. At that time they will claim it's too late and insist on a 5%, 15%, 25% even 30% restocking fee. I believe the amount varies depending on how much they think they can squeeze out of you. The restocking fee is what keeps them in business, it's free money to them. Tell them you are not willing to pay the fee because it's their fault for the delays not yours. Be sure to save your emails and make notes of all of your calls to them.

2. Call your credit card company and dispute the charge. Don't be put off if the charge was over a month ago. You paid for something but you never received it, that's enough for them to investigate.

3. File a complaint with the Kings County District Attorneys Office http://www.brooklynda.org/da_action/da_action.htm. They are the ones that can prosecute Homeannex and force them to shut down.

If you are successful in getting your money back, please share how you did it so someone else can follow the same steps.

After weeks of trying to reach them I finally went to the Sales Department and spoke to "Marie". She said my order had not shipped yet and she would have the full amount refunded to me. I asked to send me an email to that effect and she said she would.....still no email and I am extremely doubtful if this will go as smoothly as she promised but I will keep you posted. Wish I had read this before I tried to "save" on my hardware!

I did the same thing. I called my credit card company and disputed the charge. I did order from them previously and received the product in a reasonable amount of time, but found the product at Lowes for a lot less, almost $700.00 less! I emailed them asking to be reimbursed the difference and have not heard from them in over a month. You cannot fax or call because their customer service deparment is shut down.

Closed And I Don't Have My Products
Posted by Remodguy on 04/11/2009
I have ordered a few products for a couple jobs. One other retailer DPO was 2 weeks late on my order but HomeAnnex.com has yet to deliver at all and they may have closed down permanently. They haven't answer the phone for 7 days. Last week their Toll Free number disappeared. Convenient!!! Now they site says closed for Easter or Passover for 10 days. What kind of website closes down for 10 days. How does one expect customer service if the business is closed 10 days straight? I then called Aquabrass directly and inquired where my purchase was. They told me they don't ship direct to customers and that they had cut HomeAnnex.com off for non payment and financial problems. This is sounding like there is a major problem and I am not going to get my products.

Only place I could find this brand online. I haven't seen any other complaints like mine so I don't know if they are shut down or just weeks late like other complaints over time.

How did you pay them? You may be able to dispute the charges if you paid with a credit card.

Run From This Website
Posted by Suelynnes on 02/06/2009
NEW YORK -- Do not use this source for anything. They are not really cheaper once you pay for the millions of emails and phone calls to find or cancel your order. They will take payment immediately and then order the part from whoever manufactures it. It takes at least 2 weeks to get the parts to their warehouse and who know how long from there. I was on hold with customer service for over 30 minutes, 3 different times. I finally found [the] CEO of this places phone number. It is 718-252-2562.

They immediately gave me to a customer service person who stated I would receive a refund minus a 5% stocking fee for a part they didn't even have in their possession yet. What a scam!

If you order from someplace that does not deliver within the agreed timeframe, you can always dispure the charge with your credit card company. All you have to tell them is that delievery was never made, and they will reverse the entire charge.

Spend Your Money Somewhere Else
Posted by Sfgirlee on 09/16/2008
The worst experience, by far, I've ever had with an online merchant. After 8 emails and 7 phone calls, I finally cancelled the order. Their support was rude and always asks to call you back with a new excuse - high call volume, computer is down. Magically, the computer was suddenly available when I insisted that I could not wait another 24 hours for my call to be returned. I placed a new order with two separate vendors and both managed to ship my orders the same day with absolutely no issue.

A complete nightmare, I highly discourage anyone from shopping with them.

Do Not Use HomeAnnex!!!!
Posted by Tdr24 on 11/14/2007

I was informed that the product I wanted was in stock; after making the order (and they charge your card immediately) and waiting a couple weeks for the shower arm to arrive, I called customer service - which is consistently a 15 minute wait, canceled the order and was informed that I would see a refund on my credit card within the next two business days. I have yet to receive my refund and it has been over two weeks and two long telephone calls...

I was last informed that refunds can take up to a month!

If they continue to screw you around file a chargeback with your credit card company.

Do Not Buy From These Liars
Posted by Home-Decor Lover on 04/24/2007
These people are liars! Do not trust anything that the customer service people tell you. The products never ship when they say, the customer service is rude...if you can reach them at all.
