Mass Frustration With Head Rests
By -

THESE HEAD RESTS ARE THE MOST RIDICULOUS AND AWFUL ATTACHMENT I'VE EVER SEEN ON ANY VEHICLE!!!!! The head rests tilt extremely far forward and are very thick and uncomfortable. The extreme forward tilt in the head rests puts pressure on my neck and head which results in neck stiffness and in some cases, significant pain. Honda should have made flatter head rests or better yet made the current head rest adjustable. OMG!! Adjustable head rests, now there's a novel idea.

I loved my Accord's styling, performance, and fuel efficiency. But after 9 months of being uncomfortable, I've given up. First thing in the morning I'm headed to the Nissan dealership to check out Nissan Altimas. Buyer beware before purchasing newer model Honda Accords.

Rear Brake Pads Defective
By -

TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA -- I have a 2008 Honda and the rear brake pads went out at 17,000 miles plus the rotors had to be turned. I understand that this is a brake design flaw on models 08, 09, and 10. It cost $225 and I cannot see doing that every 17,000 miles, plus the rotors will wear out soon if they are turning them already.

I have a friend who has a 07 Honda and the rear pads have not worn out yet at 52,000. So I'm angry. I contacted Honda America and they will give me a partial refund, but would not deal with any future help. I've contacted the LA Times about this as well as the biggest Japanese newspaper, Nikkei. Hopefully we can get more exposure on this.

If something is not resolved, I'll keep on fighting. I'm also leaving notes on Hondas I see in mall and grocery parking lots to join the fight. I will also be writing to Honda Japan as my car was actually made in Japan. Their export market is down 64.1%.... They need to stand behind their product because it is hurting their image. I think lifetime replacement of pads and rotors would be appropriate or just recall the models for those three years or give us a new car when they get their act together.

2003 Accord Transmission failure
By -

I drive a 2003 Honda Accord V6. It has 92000 miles. The transmission started slipping out of gear on the freeway as I hit the gas doing about 60 mph. And when it went back into gear, it went to 2nd gear causing severe braking and nearly caused an accident. Later in the evening it got progressively worse. I took it to Honda and they determined it needed a new transmission which would cost $4000. They did offer a discount of $1000. I went onto www.carcomplaints.com and noticed this is a major issue with this car.

Honda did do a recall to add an oil jet to the 2nd gear but it apparently didn't work. I don't understand why they don't recall them altogether and replace the transmission completely with ones that won't fail so soon. So right now I am stuck because I can't afford $3000 for this and don't really know what to do.

Complaint

ANYTOWN -- Honda Accord 07 cars have a problem with the quality of their brakes; namely the brake pads wear out prematurely at about 17,000 miles; and Honda refuses to acknowledge, accept fault, or even offer an effective solution for fixing this problem. Buyers are left in the lurch for about $500 of repairs a year or so depending on how much they drive. I had to spend hours of research and some money to get professional advice from an online Honda certified mechanic to determine how I might fix the brake problem and get at least 50,000 miles out of the brakes like I have in the past from the cheapest econobox cars I have owned.

I say might because it remains to be seen if the certified mechanic's advice will fix the problem. The upshot is that Honda needs to take responsibility for its failures. In refusing to take responsibility, Honda puts its customer and others on the line for lost money; and possible brake failure not to mention possibly endangering others due to unsafe cars. If the fix suggested by the mechanic does not work, I am sorry to say that going to sell my Honda at a loss as soon as it is paid off and buy American.

I bought this Honda at a much higher price than an American car for safety, reliability, and resale value; and got none of these things if the brakes cannot be repaired and rendered strong and reliable. If Honda thinks it is big enough to high hand its customers, and too big to fail, Honda is paving the way for its customers to leave.

Known Brake Issue on 2007 Honda Accord
By -

I was distressed to find that the back brakes on my 2007 Honda Accord need to be replaced. Usually front brakes go bad faster than back brakes, but not in this case. Since this is my 4th Honda, I decided to call American Honda and complain. The representative was very nice, even going so far as to admitting they know there are issues with their brakes, and they are investigating it. If they determine that there is an issue they could possibly pay for it. But they don't know when the investigation will be complete.

So, I have to pay for a brake job at 27k miles, when they know they are having brake issues. I bought a new car with an increased car payment so that I would have reliability. What kind of service is that? I have a mom in the hospital that I cannot go see until I get my brakes done. I don't have a lot of cash right now from taking time off due to a death in the family, and my mom being in the hospital. I cannot go visit my mom again until I get this fixed. Where is the Honda customer loyalty? I have been loyal to Honda, which was obviously a mistake. I will look at other car brands and not Honda next time.

'08 Accord - Premature Rear Brake Wear
By -

My wife took her 2008 Accord in for an oil change at 17K miles and was told the REAR brakes should be done either now or by the next oil change. When questioning about the premature wear, she was told they wore so quickly because of the way she was braking. Ridiculous! She is great behind the wheel, driving very carefully and smoothly. If anything, the fronts should go first. This is her sixth Honda Accord and likely her last. This one is the worst build and the noisiest one ever. I found similar complaint on the web. Honda needs to get its act together and resolve this problem.

Disappointed in '07 Accord
By -

Re our '07 Accord: Gas consumption poor (15-25 mi. per gallon in city driving). DESIGN FLAWS: Too-wide spaces between hood and trunk covers and car body so that leaves, snow, etc. gather (in front, covering interior vents). Windshield wiper well gathers leaves and snow, inaccessible for removal except via strong vacuum. Roof of car does not extend over doors so that, when opened, rain, snow, pours onto seats and passengers. Sun visors do not swing all the way to windshield as sometimes required; action impeded by contact with rear-view mirror, knocking the latter out of alignment. Printed directions in operating manual often unclear, seemingly incomplete.

Nonsense

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I have less than 10,000 miles on my new 2008 Honda Accord, which is less than a year old. I took the car in to the dealership for its 2nd oil change and was told I need new breaks. Then I was told it is something that occurs with 2008 Hondas. Who in their right mind would buy a car that they will need to spend 232 on breaks EVERY OTHER oil change. No one would purchase the car. I feel I have been cheat and mislead. There is an obvious defect.

I think I am going to call the local television stations to see if this problem can be resolved without me having to pay for breaks about every other oil change. Reasonable repair is fine, but having to pay for breaks before the car is a year is unacceptable.

Honda Transmission
By -

We have a 2002 Honda Accord that we purchased new. It has 59,000 miles on it and was driven only to-and-from work. The transmission is going and we have to have it replaced, which will cost us $2100. Honda won't do anything. When we took it to a transmission shop, the owner told us that he sees Honda transmissions going all the time, usually at around 70,000 miles. We took the car in for service regularly. We also have a 2003 Honda Accord with 46,000 miles on it and are now concerned about that one.

THE BOTTOM LINE: HONDAS HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. WATCH OUT!
