Hormel Chili Is The Best
Posted by Chris513 on 06/02/2008
The other night I went to the cupboard to make dinner and while looking around came across a can of Hormel Chili w/ Beans. I ripped the top off w/ its easy to open pull tab top, followed the instructions to cook it, and then I also added some cheese. From the first bite, all I could think was "Hormel is a little bite of heaven."...

If you have never eaten Hormel chili, I strongly recommend it.

Hormel = Yum.

Rock on, MRM! I think I am gonna go to the store and stock up on more Hormel tonight.

Chris...are you trying to make the Basher upchuck? LOL!
Posted by chris513 on 2008-06-02:
DB, does this mean that you might not be voting this "helpful"???
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2008-06-02:
Welllllllllllllllllllll...I guess it would be helpful to someone...but I'm just not sure who.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....Let me think how I can vote it helpful without going against my better judgement, or lying to myself.....*Think, Think, tap, tap tap*

Chris, when you rip off that lid, do you smell it first like a wine cork, noting its bouquet? lol

EEEW DC! I just vurped a little!
Chris, I'm glad you liked it sweetie, but unfortunately it looks way too much like dog food for me to even consider eating it. Hubby on the other hand used to have a cabinet full of it before we moved in together. That was before I started feeding him! :)
Tomorrow's dinner is meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, and home made biscuits, you call me and I'll save you a plate!

Hi Princi! My favorite canned chili is Stag. It seems to be the closest to homemade.
Posted by chris513 on 2008-06-02:
I have never had Stag. I usually make my own Cincinnati chili.

Hi DC! :) I'll have to ask hubby about that one. I make a really yummy Italian chili with spicy sausage and cannelini beans. I'm still looking online for a really good chili recipe. Each one I've tried just hasn't done it for us.

Princi, here is a good recipe...http://whatscookingamerica.net/Beef/CincinnatiChili.htm

Any company that can produce a gourmet's delight like SPAM can certainly make a great Chili... I love the stuff...

Just watch the Detroit skyline. If there's no OT and the Wings win, you're within an hour or so of being able to see the cars burning.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!! Ah' Hormel! Can't help but give this review a 21 fart salute!

Wonder why some have such a weird obsession with cars and cities burning? Hope the WINGS win and prove Detroit is truly Hockey Town full of great people.

I voted you VH chris, but honestly, I don't consider the canned stuff much more than hot-dog topping.

PFFFSSSSSSST!
Posted by chris513 on 2008-06-02:
oh man, i love a good chili dog.

Cherpep must be having an attack about now. All tied up going into OT with the cup oh' so close. Joe Lewis is watching!!
Posted by chris513 on 2008-06-02:
I was thinking the same thing...I thought the Wings had it...OT will be the decider

I GOT IT! This is very helpful for those who need a colon cleanser...Old F is on a mission to get everyone to have their colon checked..so, I guess Eating Hormel Chili...or Hormel anything, would help.

Also, It will help those with loose flem in their throats, it's always good to have that cleared out as well.

So, yes...you will get a "helpful" vote from me. :)
Posted by chris513 on 2008-06-02:
Now you are figuring it out, DB! Also remember that Hormel is the same fine company that brings you SPAM!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2008-06-02:
Do they play the full overtime...or is it first one that scores?
Posted by chris513 on 2008-06-02:
sudden death...the next one to score wins.
Posted by Anonymous on 2008-06-02:
Obsession? Nope! History speaks for itself my friend.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2008-06-02:
I'll have to pop some more popcorn for Cherpep and Chris... BTW....not that the game isn't interesting enough...but wouldn't it be even more interesting if they used a WHITE Hockey Puck?

We use our Hormel beanless chili to make chili dogs when we do hot dogs. It's great!

What a night!! I am not awake. Didn't end the way we wanted it to end last night, but we had a good time anyway. We'll just have to win it in Pittsburgh.

Oh - Hormel Chili. Hubby loves it mixed 1/2 & 1/2 with Velveeta, popped in the microwave, and then eats it with tortilla chips. Not my favorite, but hubby & the kids love it.

Somebody - please hand me my coffee!

How can you have double the shots in a game and still lose...?

The words that haunted my dreams last night, OF!
Posted by old fart on 2008-06-03:
I found the game on TV late last night... they must have carried it after the regular schedule knowing that it was a sell out anyway so I watched the first 2 OT periods..
I guess I didn't miss much when I passed on the 3rd OT and went to bed..

Being a chili lover, but hating the fat, several months ago I brought home one can of every kind of low fat chili and/or turkey chili in my market.

To my surprise Dennison's 98% Fat Free Turkey Chili was far and away the best tasting of them all, and that includes the regular chili I ate for years.

I do not work for Dennisons or any company associated with them; in fact, I don't work at all, I'm retired!

Quality of food
Posted by Old fart on 03/31/2008
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN -- I just tried a Hormel "Compleats" turkey dinner and found that for a pre-prepared food, it is delicious.

The product I tried was the Turkey and dressing dinner and was surprised to find it to be almost equivalent to home cooking.

It can be found in most grocery stores and needs No refrigeration or preparation plus it only has 280 calories.. simply microwave and eat.

They are a 10 ounce serving, plenty for old geezers like me.

The price is around $2.25, very reasonable for a light lunch.

Hormel does make some good slop.
Posted by Anonymous on 2008-03-31:
I have some of those in my hurricane kit. Good to know they aren't bad!!
Posted by Anonymous on 2008-03-31:
I keep Spam in my hurricane kit...180 calories per 2oz slice. A can is a day's worth of calories...just add red beans, rice, and some seasoning. The PLUS? Spam is almost as stable as MREs...and it's immune to pests...only Samoans and disaster victims will eat the stuff.

Spam! Now I'm craving spam musubi..
Posted by ejack053824 on 2008-03-31:
Ahhhhh...good ole Hormel. I might have to give that turkey dinner a try. If it clogs my commode up afterwards then I will say it's no good. LOL!
Posted by old fart on 2008-03-31:
Ghost... I must be a samoan disaster victim then 'cause I eat the stuff as a snack when I'm watching TV.. I'll go through a can in an evening..
Posted by Starlord on 2008-03-31:
Not only Samoans, Hawaiians eat more Spam than any other group of people per capita. I love the cerazy tasty mystery meat. It is spiced ham, get over it!
Posted by Anonymous on 2008-03-31:
I guess if you like Spam then turkey in a box is a gourmet meal. Sounds kind of nasty to me.
Posted by old fart on 2008-03-31:
Starlord... you're my kinda guy.. anyone who likes SPAM can't be all bad!
Posted by old fart on 2008-03-31:
Try it clam... it'll improve your digestion and disposition..

Good review Old Fart I like spam! (VH)
Posted by Anonymous on 2008-03-31:
I bet it would change them, old fart, but I doubt it would improve anything. I can't see where yacking up lunch would be a good thing. I'm about to contact Dodge and tell them my truck just turned 500,000 because I lube it with 4 qts. of Penzoil and a can of spam every 3,000 miles
Posted by old fart on 2008-03-31:
Must be Basher.. she makes me keep it on a separate shelf in the fridge..
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2008-03-31:
You're lucky she even allows you to share the same bed after eating that crap! My hubby sure wouldn't be breathing SPAM breath on my all night...and there sure wouldn't be any tongue wrestling going on for at LEAST a week after he's eaten it!
Posted by old fart on 2008-03-31:
Clam.. yacking up lumch is one way to lose weight..Basher could try it with a can of spam and she'd lose 15 lbs,
in a hurry.

See Bash,, I told you that spam was good for you..!
