Car Loan Verification Department Sucks
Posted by Mridul on 03/10/2010
Hi All,

I don't know if this is correct place, however I would still post my issue since 'ICICI' plays a role.

I applied for a Car (Chevrolet) Loan via ICICI. The loan amount was a mere 3.2L. I submitted over 100 xerox copies of documents, my past 2.5 years of employment papers, this n that.

Where am I stuck? The person from ICICI (or the agency ICICI hires) went to the WRONG address for my verification. Now, I'm single and I stay alone. Where I live, it has been over 2.5 years and everyone knows me in the building for obvious reasons. The verification guy went to the wrong address and marked my FI as negative. I re-requested it and this time he entered the wrong address again! I assisted him in going to the correct address, and again he marked me as negative! I verified from every neighbor in my building, all of them were away to work. And the comments that this guy put in his notes every time was
"The guy has left the building 2 days ago".

Now,
1) When first time, he entered the wrong place, how could he write "I left 2 days ago"? (even if I did leave)!!
2) Howcome he wrote the same damn comment AGAIN when he entered the same address

My question to ICICI persons:
1) Are these persons your own? These so called uneducated and absolutely lunatic people
2) If not, then they are from some agency that you hire. What is your criteria for making a contract with an agency for the verification process? Or do you have none at all?
3) On what basis, are these persons given information for verification?

or is this just some "layman's work" or some "jugaad" thing keeping which in mind does ICICI hire/employ agency/persons for the verification process?

I have taken a leave today, in spite of urgent work, sitting back home like a stupid person, and finding EVERY SITE on which I can tell people, what ICICI does!

No matter what comes to this country, the service is as bad as a road-side dhaba. And its painful to see, ICICI BANK is no damn different!

Thanks ICICI, these are the reasons why people from outside laugh at India and its services.

Forget them, I am laughing myself to be a part of the country where a bank like ICICI truly harasses people and kills their time n money for nothing at all!

ICICI ..... YOU SUCK!

It's A Great Mistake To Open An Account With ICICI
Posted by Sunas on 03/01/2010
TIRUPPUR -- Here is another customer, Nature Neem Product, Tiruppur, who regret to have opened an account with ICICI. Our foreign buyer from Italy has transferred money to us and we are struggling for the past 15 days to get this account.
If we call by telephone, they say our card number is invalid and reset the PIN quit the call. After several tries contact to customer services is unsuccessful.
Sending an email to corporatecare@icicibank.com, nri@icicibank.com, nodalofficer@icicibank.com - no email has been replied for the past 4 days. (I have the proof)

Contacting the local bank - they confirm that money has reached (!!!) some 10 days before and they can’t remit the money to our account for X reasons (as if it’s their money). They asked the invoice, then asked a 100 rupees bond, then they asked a letter this was going like this for the past 15 days and our buyer has lost patience and now he cancelled the order.

ICICI should realize how small companies like us struggle to take an international order. Now we has lost the order because of the worst services of ICICI. Even today the money is not transferred and we have incurred a loss due to them. The next wise decision I have to take is to close the account with them
We are frustrated and we can provide the proof for the all that we have explained above. I advice all of you kindly not to open the account with ICICI.

Ashok Sundaram
Manager Marketing, Nature Neem products

ICICI bank is unworthy of offering NRE services...

My freinds since the last 12 days I have been searching the net for all info I could get on ICICI bank and came upon this website wherin people have written thier grievances and then only did I realise that it is not ONLY me who has been so much mentally harassed and totured by ICICI bank.,,

The people in the BRANCH including the Branch MANAGER are just fresh passouts from college who don't know a thinh other than just saying..YES SIR, OK SIR, DON"T worry SIR. They are highly incapable of doing anything infact they are capable of ruining, delaying and blocking your work...

I work with many banks but thier NRE remittance services are great..U get credit in ur account the second or max on the 3rd day but with ICICI I just can't understand what rules or policies they follow...Even after 12 days the money is not credited to ur account...On inquiring the OVER smart helpline officers say that the money is there but they are waiting for some confiormation or something blah blah from the remitting bank...

All this kjust not delays work but causes lot of stress, tensions and anxiety which affects the physical and mental health and also make the person unable to do his routine work properly.

IN SHORT....JUST 1 simple advice...KEEP AWAY from ICICI bank and tell all ur freinds, relatives and even enemies to keep away from ICICI bank... In fact this bank should be shut down atleast the NRE division...

I asked them to return the money to my bank in USA, they did not respond for another week, then they sent me another email saying they cannot refund to US $ as the money was already converted to Rupees. They don’t want to deposit the money in Indian bank as there is name mismatch, they don’t want to refund the money. They don’t have any solution for this problem. I had to fight with them for another month. They finally deposited the money in India branch.
I had very bad time with my company employees, I had loose some employees because of this. I am almost at the verge of closing my business.

Guys, Think twice before opening an account with ICICI. Be careful, don’t fall for their marketing talk.

ICICI bank never reset anything for you on phone
Posted by Utpal on 02/12/2010
ICICI bank system is poor ever I see on my life.
I need to reset my password and I call icici bank customer service .
someone verify all security question. and finally told me your id will re-activated with in 24 hours. so try after 24 hours.
Now here is story I found after calling icici bank 3 or 4 time to enable my id. I found very good answer from one of the customer service person.
He told me when you call first time for problem we sended your password
to your home address and no body was on home so we distroyed the envelope.
Is this makes sense. Since this happen to me I decided to withdrawn all my money from icici bank by debit card. Because I am NRI, and I was using this account to donate money to people in India.

"so try after 24 hours."

And?
So, what's your complaint?
You called to reset your password. They said it would take 24 hours. You tried it again 24 hours later... did it work? Did it reset?
What didn't they do right?

"He told me when you call first time for problem we sended your password
to your home address and no body was on home so we distroyed the envelope."

It doesn't make sense because you're not making it clear.

If you're talking about resetting your online banking password, you can do that online.
Just click on the link to "forgot password" on the http://www.icicibank.com/
It'll take you to another page where it will email you a temporary password to which you then change later.

If you're not talking about online banking password, then I have no clue how to help you... unless you provide other details as best you can.

Fraud on my ICICI bank account
Posted by Malay on 12/10/2009
This is by far the worst banking experience with a so called "renowned bank" as ICICI.
ICICI Bank has stopped responding to my mails even after three follow ups.

On end of August, 2009, there was a fraud on my online ICICI bank salary account and my account was locked.
I requested for new password from ICICI and got the passwords by first week of October.
On verifying my accounts, I discovered that RS 1,96,000.00 was transferred out of my account.

I raised a compliant at ICICI bank providing them with the details of the fraud.
I provided the payee names, the other ICICI accounts to which amount was transferred, cell phone number to which my mobile alerts were routed.
They asked me to report the issue with Cyber crime cell.
After raising the complaint with cyber crime cell, I provided ICICI bank with the complaint number.

ICICI notified me that verification is in progress and they would be providing the update by 16th Nov 2009.
Until Nov 16, ICICI bank was responding back with a standard template response. You can see all these in the below mail chain.
On 16th Nov, I followed up again to find out that verification is still under progress.
I requested for an ETA and if anything would be needed from my end.(details in the mail trail)

Two months have passed since I notified the issue to ICICI bank. However, I am not clear what has been done and what is going to happen.

I am not sure what verification process is going on and how long will it take to complete?
Is there anything they require from my end? Would I be able to assist them in any way?
Is there any way to expedite the process?
Are they going to credit back the lost amount or at least do something about it.

There are even more questions in my list…but do I've an answer??? I've not got one responsible reply from them yet.

This money is hard earned from the work we do. And to loose this is very tough for me to realize. and on top of that - I see such an irresponsible act from my banker not responding and not keeping me updated about the proceedings of their so-called verification team in this issue.

Years of savings goes away just like that and we do not know if anything can be done about it.
Are the bank authorities so busy that they do not have time to look into this issue?

Till this point - its only one ended communication happening with ICICI bank. I don't know what is the next course of action from my end. Not hoping this to happen for anyone else…but I'm sure there is at least a small group of people who got affected in a similar fashion who can guide me making the next move…please advice.

I request each one of you who ever reads this blog to do me a simple and a very small favor. Can you publish this issue in all communication medium you can - may it be blogs / may it be a simple chat or mail with your kith and kins…i just wanted to keep reaching out to the whole world until I'm heard and given justice.

And I will pray to God not to give this kind of a pain to anyone else.

Thanks,
Malay

Thanks Vijay for your response.
I appreciate the issue is being attended to.

I would like to know who is the field verification team.
As my account is at Bhubaneswar, is someone at Bhubaneswar looking into the issue?
When they are expected to respond? (I would expect an ETA)

Is there an insurance on my account and what all steps are going to be taken before the amount is credited back.
Please enlighten me on the procedures.

Please call me on my mobile or my family if any futher information would be required from our end.

Thanks,

Deposit

1. Do you know that we have to explicitly request to close a short tem deposit account.

2. If it is a joint account you need to send the same request duly signed by both account holders.

3. If you are sending this after so much of online life where you have never signed, better check your old passport signature or send a updated signature duly notarized.

4. If you have NRE SB account if your deposit is NRO account, when it is closed it can not go to NRE account, so you need to open a new NRO account.

It took nearly 4 months to learn all these. That is the sad part of this information.

My question is why the OP didn't ask the bank these questions when they set up the account. Can you imagine the complaints if the bank just closed accounts or allowed one account holder to do so?

and if it took 4 months to learn that
where were you asking?

were you web surfing for it or did you perhaps walk in to the bank to ask?

Refusal To Close Or Delay In Closing The Accounts
Posted by Saielex on 10/10/2008
I have an existing ICICI bank account with their JP nagar Branch in Bangalore. The bank has deducted an amount of Rs 112 twice for a single statement availed by me.
When the customer support was contacted they gave a false reason saying that the statement was taken twice once on 12/08/08 and on 20/08/08 when in fact I had taken only one statement on 12/08/08.The bank did not revert the amount.Subsequently I decided to close the account. After paying 281 rupees towards the same and handing over my ICICI cheque leaves and the ATM debit card I observed that the account has not been closed even after a month. At the time of closure request (06/09/08)they acknowledged the closure (after payment of 281 rupees towards closure)with a acknowledgment receipt and assured me that the account would be closed in 2-3 weeks.

Since the account was not closed by the bank even after a month I registered a complaint regarding the same After lodging a complaint with customer support and through my netbanking support the customer support contacted me saying that 500 Rs more would be required towards the same.

When questioned why wasn't this intimated when I had earlier visited the branch in person on 06/09/08 for closure request they reverted back saying that I would be required to co-ordinate with the Bangalore JP Nagar Branch.

I have been harassed too long by this ICICI branch at 75/A, 100 FEET ROAD, 6TH PHASE, JP NAGAR, BANGALORE, 560 078.KARNATAKA. My patience has been really tested
by this fraudulent bank.

Customer service people are hopeless and don’t even understand what we are talking. They just keep some paper in front of them read it, no matter what is your question. They spend least money for banking activities and use the rest for illegal activities.

I am sure they must have used my money for some illegal activity or terrorist activities for 2 months. There has been lot of talk among people about their money laundering activities.
RBI should get involved and investigate these fraud companies and hang the owners to death. I am sure one all the scam will come out, people holding huge deposits in the bank will loose their money.

Guys, Think twice before opening an account with ICICI. Be careful, don’t fall for their marketing talk.
Take your money and close your accounts before you loose it.
Especially don't open NRI account with them, $ is a good source for them to perform illegal activities, if you transfer money from outside country to India though ICICI, you could be finding an illegal activity indirectly.

Perils of taking a home loan from ICICI Bank
Posted by Mo999 on 07/28/2008
Sometime in the year 2006 my wife and I (Both NRIs for the last 8 years) decided to invest some of our hard earned money into the booming housing market in India . We purchased a house in Gurgaon with the help of a home loan from ICICI Bank. Following were the experiences (quite the opposite of dreaming of buying a place in India!) in dealing with ICICI Bank over a period of two and a half years:

1. Opening an Account: Compared to a day in the US, it took me a whopping four months to open up an NRE account! (They told me the signatures do not match the passport. Well I have never changed my signature. Another time they required additional documents and list goes on and on)

2. Customer Service: The customer service is simply aweful. Most of the times the home loan folks at 1866ICICI4U just don't know enough about the case. But they are always courteous enough to ask for all the loan and personal information only to inform you "Sorry sir. Please contact your relationship manager. or Sorry Sir we won't be able to help you on this." Of course, there is never a manager available to escalate the issue.

3. Selling the house: Unlike an Escrow period in the US, the home loan has to be fully paid before releasing any papers. Well good luck if you intend to sell the house and have the proceeds from the buyer to pay off the loan. There is no such thing in India. BTW what good is a relationship manager when all they can give you are canned responses. "Sorry Sir. This is our policy...Sorry Sir. Sorry Sir".

4. Web Site: Logging into the site is probably the easiest thing to do. However, trying to find information related to your accounts is anyone's guess. Most of the times clicking on home loan account returns a "Our system is down. We are currently experiencing difficulties. Sorry for the inconvenience"

Conclusion: Invest in a country where you live. And if you do plan on investing in India, DO NOT BORROW FROM ICICI BANK.

While Ms Kochar and Mr Kamath are busy giving big presentations about the opening up of Indian Financial Markets, poor borrowers are suffering tremendously. And BTW when they say SORRY they really don't mean it. What a shame!!!

ICICI Bank continues to harass customers
Posted by Viks1234556 on 12/11/2007
MUMBAI -- Dear All

This is bring in to Notice the kind of harassment done by ICICI Bank's agents to customers.
I have taken Credit card from ICICI bank in year 2005 with card number ************8008.
In year 31-may-06 in one of statement I found that ICICI Lombard policy has been charged against my credit card. I had not done any purchased and expect Lombard charges nothing was showing on my statement .Immediately I called up call center and asked them to cancel the fee and cancel my card. I have been advised by the Call center agent to tear the card and put card in the drop box , which I did next day itself. Even post that I received the statement next month with minimum amount taken from my account and interest put on rest of the amount. I again followed up with customer care personal and then they said they will ensure that no statement is further delivered and they will revert back fees.

Immediately canceled my account also with ICICI Bank.

Then suddenly next month collection agent came to my house for collecting dues and I was shocked. Again I debate with him then he said pay the amount 200 and everything will be settled down I did same and I got receipt for same.

Suddenly 3 days back again one agent came to my house for collection and started misbehaving with my wife. When I showed up slip he said you pay rest of money else he will send some “guddas” to collect. He said he will ensure that collection is taken from him out side in road if I don’t pay upfront. He started abusing. I am really afraid and now I have asked my relatives to help me out.

This type of “gundagardi” ICICI bank’s collection agents are doing with customers.

Would appreciate if any one can help me out. I have receipt and bills with me .

ICICI bank is a scam. Its total fraud bank.
They steal your money. Thats what their main business. Banking is just a cover up. Actual business is funding fraudulent people, laundering the money to illegal activities, funding .terrorist activities etc.
Do you know ICICI spends 25% of their revenue on marketing and ads. They hire expensive movie actors like sharuk Khan to promote their bank.
Customer service people are hopeless and don’t even understand what we are talking. They just keep some paper in front of them read it, no matter what is your question.
I did a large mount of money transfer to my business account in India, I had to pay my employees in India in a weeks time. They sent me an email after 3 days saying money was deposited in the account, and assumed that everything went fine. On the payroll day everything started bouncing. when I checked the account there is no money. When I call the customer service they said, send an email to nri@icicibank.com. I sent an email, did not hear anything from them for 20 days. After 20 days some moron calls me and tells me there was some name mismatch. If there is a name mismatch and money is not deposited, how did they send an email saying its money was deposited.

ICICI Bank likes to hold on to your money

COPENHAGEN -- I would like to share with you one of the worst banking experience I have had. It is with ICICI Bank. I am an NRI working in Denmark and as per the ICICI Bank website, I transferred 10,000 Danish Kroners to an account in Danske Bank,Denmark. This account is supposedly operated by ICICI who collect the money and transfer them into the Indian accounts of the respective people. It is nearly 2 months and I am yet to get the money into my Indian account (626201077225).

Because I too have a local bank account with Danske Bank, I did a normal account-to-account transfer. Now ICICI Bank asked me to ask my local bank to send a SWIFT message. When I approached the local bank, they said that SWIFT messages are only for wire-transfers and not for account-to-account transfers within the same bank. But ICICI refuses to acknowledge this simple fact. They acknowledge that they have received the money and know it is from me but still won't transfer the money. They just keep on insisting on this SWIFT message which I repeatedly told them that the local bank won't give.

This message is to warn all people who remit money through ICICI Bank. They must realise that when they transfer money into an account operated by ICICI, they are at the mercy of the ICICI. Even if they want to get back the money, they cannot unless ICICI decides to give it back because they have willingly given the money through online transfer. I hope you will carry this incident on your webiste.

I think the only hope I have is the Banking Ombudsman Scheme started on 1st January 2006 by the RBI. http://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/bs_viewcontent.aspx?Id=159

I ISSUED a check of INR 740,000 WITH SUFFICIENT BALANCE. THESE JOKERS REFUSED TO HONOUR THIS AND RETURNED WITHOUT ANY REASON. OVER THAT I WAS LEVIED 224 INR TWICE AS RETURN CHARGES. MONEY I SENT WAS FOR MY SISTER'S WEDDING. THESE CROOKS ALMOST RUINED MY FUNCTION. BEWARE OF ICICI BANK. THEY WOULD NEVER REPLY ANY QUERRIES WITH THEIR PHONE NUMBERS. ALL THAT YOU HEAR IS A REPLY FROM FRESHLY GRADUATED DUMBS APPOINTED YESTERDAY IN CALL CENTRES, WHO CAN NEVER SOLVE A PROBLEM,
IT IS TOTAL LOSS OF TIME, MONEY , ENERGY AND EVEN YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. THIS BANK MAY CLOSE DOWN OVERNIGHT THE WAY IT FUNCTIONS.
