ICICI Bank the Con Masters

Don't ever sign blank forms of ICICI bank. At every ATM and branch you have smiling marketing guys approaching you to apply for credit cards, Insurance, current accounts, demat accounts and what not. The project themselves as helpful. They explain to you the product they have, just ask you to sign on the application and they fill up the rest, thus save you precious time and hassles.

We feel these guys are living up to the slogan "Hum hain na" and some of us do sign and leave the rest to them.

I have had a nasty experience, while opening a current account, after understanding the various current accounts I told the marketing guy I would like a Rs. 25000/- Quarterly Average Balance account. He said no problem and asked me to sign on the necessary spaces and since he does not want to waste my time he could fill up the rest.

10 days later I got my account number and immediately I deposited Rs.25,000/- cash. Six months have gone by, I have made sure my balance is never less than Rs.25,000/-. Now in my September bill I get a charge of Rs.771.40 for non-maintenance of QAB (Quarterly Average Balance). When I spoke to the customer care, the charge is because I had not maintained a QAB of Rs.50,000/-. When I told him, I have an Rs.25000/- QAB account he says nope, you have an Rs.50,000/- QAB account.

When I approached the M.G Road, Bangalore, Branch where I had opened the account I was directed to the solutions manager, he told me he will get back in 2 days time, which he did not, I again visited the bank and met him, he retrieved my application and told me since you have signed on it, you had accepted the Rs.50,000/- QAB account.

When I got pissed off, he told me there have been instances where the marketing guys have used white ink to tamper applications. And why do they do that? To earn higher commission. The higher the QAB account they sell, the higher commission they get!

He has asked me call in a week's time to let me know if they can reverse the charge. But told me it is doubtful. And also told me, if my application was tampered with white ink, he would definitely support me cent percent.

The marketing guy who sold me the account was Rajendra
The Manager I approached is designated as Area Head, Business Banking Group and his name is Arun Thomas Jacob.

My advise to you all is, if you want to buy any ICICI bank's product, look at them as con artists and take all precautions. And please, please don’t ever sign on blank applications.

Your first sentence reads: 'Don't ever sign blank forms of ICICI bank.' To avoid any problems you wish to blame on someone else (as you are in this case), just adhere to this statement: 'Don't ever sign blank forms.'

Ponie, Thanks for your comment. For God's sake understand I was just opening an account, not borrowing or lending money. The marketing guy putting me on higher QAB account for a fatter commission was unethical and a cheap thing to do

ICICI BANK IS CHEATING.
Posted by on
MUMBAI -- I am a NRI and have visited Mumbai in Sep 2005 . I tried to open ICICI NRE accounts for myself and my family totaling three accounts by paying 1000 $ on 19th Sep 2005.(by completing all the process)
Money in cash was handed over to Rekha Laud and Rashmi who were on duty.

As per me those were opened successfully, since I received check books, ATM CARDS and various PINs. These accounts belonged to ICICI Andheri Branch.

After that I left India within few days. When I tried to make some transactions , I found funds missing from all my three accounts. The money I deposited did not appear in bank records, I tried to Call Bank Manager Ms. Managala Shetty and Sandip Gupta, but no one was ready to talk or interested to reply. Moreover on my further attempts calling them failed, as they do not pick up phone. There is no one in Bank who is ready to answer about the whereabout of my money (foreign currency) deposited for which I have some receipts which looks fake.

I believe there is some scam or fraud going on in bank on the name of opening NRE accounts. So called ICICI staff feel that It is easy to cheat Non-residents and easy to make money out of foreign accounts which involves foreign currency. It looks like foreign currency racket/scam. Such foreign currency has huge demand in domestic market as far grey market is concerned.

If everything was right then after 20 days I woudn't see zero balance in all the three accounts. It clearly show bank's dishonesty. When I acted strong, these scammers started blaming on defect of my documents meant for opening accounts. This claim came after I startd trace/investigation of my funds.

I feel lost as I do not know what to do since no bank staff is responding to whereabouts of my money and sitting 10000 kms away, I feel that I have been cheated by ICICI bank Andheri, Mumbai branch, I feel shame on such banks.

BEWARE OF ICICI BANK. NRI's need to be extra careful before opening account with ICICI BANK to protect their hard earned foreign currency.

ICICI NRI Home Loans - BEWARE OF IT.

Dear All,

I am an NRI and was planning to buy a ready to occupy property in India. I approached ICICI without doing any home work regarding the home loans and the banks.

Here is my bitter experience with ICICI. Complete life cycle of the home loan process as per ICICI.

1. The customer sees the NRI homeloans link in the ICICI site and applies for a NRI home loan. ICICI charges the highest Administration fee (approx 1.2% of the applied amount). This amount needs to be paid even before the customer is given any assurance that the loan amount will be disbursed. (Please note that disbursement is not the same as sanction. Learn the banking terms otherwise you are screwed.)

2. ICICI sends you a sanction letter without considering any of the property documents. The sanction letter will be given just based on the assets and liabilities and the income that the applicant has. Once this sanction letter is granted, in the sanction letter, ICICI specifies that the Administrative fees is not refundable. Prior to this, In no other form, this is mentioned to the customer. Neither in their web-site nor by any representative unless the customer is very interrogative.

3. Once the customer receives the sanction letter, he is expected to submit the property documents. ICICI gets this documents verified by their legal advisors. This is where the luck of customer plays a major role. If he is lucky, the legal validations go through, if not, the customer either has to look for another property which would legally be approved by ICICI or would have to forgo the administration amount that is paid.

4. If the customer seeks a justification of this, every representative says "We are not authorized to speak on this. Please write to mortgagehelpdesk@icici.com or nriservices@icici.com" . The second e-mail address bounces back.

After this happened, I did a research on the internet to see if there were any other customers who were bothered by ICICI and not to my surprise, there were many such with different cases.

The law in India is not as crisp as it is in US at least. If it were the case here, the customer would have got a chance to sue the bank and win the case. Sadly, in India, these cases can not be filled anywhere else except for Consumer courts and being in a foreign nation the customer rarely finds a chance to file a case and follow up till the end.

It is then, I decided that I will take all the possible media through which I can educate people about these loop holes and deceptions of a no-value-for-customer-money banks such as ICICI.

Today it is me, tomorrow it could be one from you. Please spread this message to as many people as possible and be more cautious in dealing with ICICI, or for that matter anything that involves money dealings with a third party.

Thanks for spreading this message.

Regards,
AK

It's A Great Mistake To Open An Account With ICICI
Posted by on
TIRUPPUR -- Here is another customer, Nature Neem Product, Tiruppur, who regret to have opened an account with ICICI. Our foreign buyer from Italy has transferred money to us and we are struggling for the past 15 days to get this account.
If we call by telephone, they say our card number is invalid and reset the PIN quit the call. After several tries contact to customer services is unsuccessful.
Sending an email to corporatecare@icicibank.com, nri@icicibank.com, nodalofficer@icicibank.com - no email has been replied for the past 4 days. (I have the proof)

Contacting the local bank - they confirm that money has reached (!!!) some 10 days before and they can’t remit the money to our account for X reasons (as if it’s their money). They asked the invoice, then asked a 100 rupees bond, then they asked a letter this was going like this for the past 15 days and our buyer has lost patience and now he cancelled the order.

ICICI should realize how small companies like us struggle to take an international order. Now we has lost the order because of the worst services of ICICI. Even today the money is not transferred and we have incurred a loss due to them. The next wise decision I have to take is to close the account with them
We are frustrated and we can provide the proof for the all that we have explained above. I advice all of you kindly not to open the account with ICICI.

Ashok Sundaram
Manager Marketing, Nature Neem products

ICICI bank is unworthy of offering NRE services...

My freinds since the last 12 days I have been searching the net for all info I could get on ICICI bank and came upon this website wherin people have written their grievances and then only did I realize that it is not ONLY me who has been so much mentally harassed and totured by ICICI bank.,,

The people in the BRANCH including the Branch MANAGER are just fresh passouts from college who don't know a thinh other than just saying..YES SIR, OK SIR, DON"T worry SIR. They are highly incapable of doing anything in fact they are capable of ruining, delaying and blocking your work...

I work with many banks but their NRE remittance services are great..U get credit in ur account the second or max on the 3rd day but with ICICI I just can't understand what rules or policies they follow...Even after 12 days the money is not credited to ur account...On inquiring the OVER smart helpline officers say that the money is there but they are waiting for some confiormation or something blah blah from the remitting bank...

All this kjust not delays work but causes lot of stress, tensions and anxiety which affects the physical and mental health and also make the person unable to do his routine work properly.

IN SHORT....JUST 1 simple advice...KEEP AWAY from ICICI bank and tell all ur freinds, relatives and even enemies to keep away from ICICI bank... In fact this bank should be shut down at least the NRE division...

Customer service people are hopeless and don’t even understand what we are talking. They just keep some paper in front of them read it, no matter what is your question.
I did a large mount of money transfer to my business account in India, I had to pay my employees in India in a weeks time. They sent me an email after 3 days saying money was deposited in the account, and assumed that everything went fine. On the payroll day everything started bouncing. when I checked the account there is no money. When I call the customer service they said, send an email to nri@icicibank.com. I sent an email, did not hear anything from them for 20 days. After 20 days some moron calls me and tells me there was some name mismatch. If there is a name mismatch and money is not deposited, how did they send an email saying its money was deposited.
I asked them to return the money to my bank in USA, they did not respond for another week, then they sent me another email saying they cannot refund to US $ as the money was already converted to Rupees. They don’t want to deposit the money in Indian bank as there is name mismatch, they don’t want to refund the money. They don’t have any solution for this problem. I had to fight with them for another month. They finally deposited the money in India branch.
I had very bad time with my company employees, I had loose some employees because of this. I am almost at the verge of closing my business.

Guys, Think twice before opening an account with ICICI. Be careful, don’t fall for their marketing talk.

ICICI bank system is poor ever I see on my life.
I need to reset my password and I call ICICI bank customer service .
someone verify all security question. and finally told me your id will re-activated within 24 hours. so try after 24 hours.
Now here is story I found after calling ICICI bank 3 or 4 time to enable my id. I found very good answer from one of the customer service person.
He told me when you call first time for problem we sended your password
to your home address and no body was on home so we distroyed the envelope.
Is this makes sense. Since this happen to me I decided to withdrawn all my money from ICICI bank by debit card. Because I am NRI, and I was using this account to donate money to people in India.

"so try after 24 hours."

And?
So, what's your complaint?
You called to reset your password. They said it would take 24 hours. You tried it again 24 hours later... did it work? Did it reset?
What didn't they do right?

"He told me when you call first time for problem we sended your password
to your home address and no body was on home so we distroyed the envelope."

It doesn't make sense because you're not making it clear.

If you're talking about resetting your online banking password, you can do that online.
Just click on the link to "forgot password" on the http://www.icicibank.com/
It'll take you to another page where it will email you a temporary password to which you then change later.

If you're not talking about online banking password, then I have no clue how to help you... unless you provide other details as best you can.

1. Do you know that we have to explicitly request to close a short tem deposit account.

2. If it is a joint account you need to send the same request duly signed by both account holders.

3. If you are sending this after so much of online life where you have never signed, better check your old passport signature or send a updated signature duly notarized.

4. If you have NRE SB account if your deposit is NRO account, when it is closed it can not go to NRE account, so you need to open a new NRO account.

It took nearly 4 months to learn all these. That is the sad part of this information.

Refusal To Close Or Delay In Closing The Accounts
Posted by on
I have an existing ICICI bank account with their JP nagar Branch in Bangalore. The bank has deducted an amount of Rs 112 twice for a single statement availed by me.
When the customer support was contacted they gave a false reason saying that the statement was taken twice once on 12/08/08 and on 20/08/08 when in fact I had taken only one statement on 12/08/08.The bank did not revert the amount.Subsequently I decided to close the account. After paying 281 rupees towards the same and handing over my ICICI cheque leaves and the ATM debit card I observed that the account has not been closed even after a month. At the time of closure request (06/09/08)they acknowledged the closure (after payment of 281 rupees towards closure)with a acknowledgment receipt and assured me that the account would be closed in 2-3 weeks.

Since the account was not closed by the bank even after a month I registered a complaint regarding the same After lodging a complaint with customer support and through my netbanking support the customer support contacted me saying that 500 Rs more would be required towards the same.

When questioned why wasn't this intimated when I had earlier visited the branch in person on 06/09/08 for closure request they reverted back saying that I would be required to co-ordinate with the Bangalore JP Nagar Branch.

I have been harassed too long by this ICICI branch at 75/A, 100 FEET ROAD, 6TH PHASE, JP NAGAR, BANGALORE, 560 078.KARNATAKA. My patience has been really tested
by this fraudulent bank.

Take your money and close your accounts before you loose it.
Especially don't open NRI account with them, $ is a good source for them to perform illegal activities, if you transfer money from outside country to India though ICICI, you could be finding an illegal activity indirectly.

ICICI Bank continues to harass customers

MUMBAI -- Dear All

This is bring in to Notice the kind of harassment done by ICICI Bank's agents to customers.
I have taken Credit card from ICICI bank in year 2005 with card number ************8008.
In year 31-may-06 in one of statement I found that ICICI Lombard policy has been charged against my credit card. I had not done any purchased and expect Lombard charges nothing was showing on my statement .Immediately I called up call center and asked them to cancel the fee and cancel my card. I have been advised by the Call center agent to tear the card and put card in the drop box , which I did next day itself. Even post that I received the statement next month with minimum amount taken from my account and interest put on rest of the amount. I again followed up with customer care personal and then they said they will ensure that no statement is further delivered and they will revert back fees.

Immediately canceled my account also with ICICI Bank.

Then suddenly next month collection agent came to my house for collecting dues and I was shocked. Again I debate with him then he said pay the amount 200 and everything will be settled down I did same and I got receipt for same.

Suddenly 3 days back again one agent came to my house for collection and started misbehaving with my wife. When I showed up slip he said you pay rest of money else he will send some “guddas” to collect. He said he will ensure that collection is taken from him outside in road if I don’t pay upfront. He started abusing. I am really afraid and now I have asked my relatives to help me out.

This type of “gundagardi” ICICI bank’s collection agents are doing with customers.

Would appreciate if any one can help me out. I have receipt and bills with me .

Inhuman face of ICICI Bank
Posted by on
CHENNAI, TENNESSEE -- ICICI Bank is interested only in making money from its customers, without providing actual service for the money earned.

Customer service is non existent. The only person who can make any decisions is probably their Chairman at Mumbai. Bank Managers are nothing but dumbos occupying the chair chatting with friends and relatives.

The few active staff are so overworked they have no time to sort customer's problems. your complaint letters are mostly used as tissue papers for cleaning their tables. They have standard replies for email queries, "we are looking into the matter" or occasionally you might be asked for info which will take weeks to collect and after submission they will have the same fate as your complaint letter.

I can only summarize my experience with ICICI as follows:

Inconsiderate, inhuman
Callous, couldn't care
Income First
Customer Last
Indifferent bank

ICICI Bank likes to hold on to your money
Posted by on
COPENHAGEN -- I would like to share with you one of the worst banking experience I have had. It is with ICICI Bank. I am an NRI working in Denmark and as per the ICICI Bank website, I transferred 10,000 Danish Kroners to an account in Danske Bank,Denmark. This account is supposedly operated by ICICI who collect the money and transfer them into the Indian accounts of the respective people. It is nearly 2 months and I am yet to get the money into my Indian account (626201077225).

Because I too have a local bank account with Danske Bank, I did a normal account-to-account transfer. Now ICICI Bank asked me to ask my local bank to send a SWIFT message. When I approached the local bank, they said that SWIFT messages are only for wire-transfers and not for account-to-account transfers within the same bank. But ICICI refuses to acknowledge this simple fact. They acknowledge that they have received the money and know it is from me but still won't transfer the money. They just keep on insisting on this SWIFT message which I repeatedly told them that the local bank won't give.

This message is to warn all people who remit money through ICICI Bank. They must realize that when they transfer money into an account operated by ICICI, they are at the mercy of the ICICI. Even if they want to get back the money, they cannot unless ICICI decides to give it back because they have willingly given the money through online transfer. I hope you will carry this incident on your webiste.

I think the only hope I have is the Banking Ombudsman Scheme started on 1st January 2006 by the RBI. http://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/bs_viewcontent.aspx?Id=159
