Cabin Creek Denim Leggings

SPRINGFIELD PA -- Please Please bring back Cabin creek leggings, also your catalog as I did most of my shopping that way.
I realize you have to bring in the young shoppers but what about the ones who have shopped for many many years by catalog.

Do not like the NEW JC penney at all and is very hard for me to get out to the store.

My daughter and I both have worn Cabin Creek denim for many years we loved them, now no more. Please help.

I believe it is highly unlikely (0.5%) that JCP will bring back its catalog. It was incredibly expensive to produce, and with most people carrying around smart phones these days it unfortunately is no longer viable. I liked it and used it, but I am afraid it will remain a memory.

I just discovered Cabin Creek via a thrift store and I'm very sad to learn they aren't available anywhere. Shame on you JCP for dumping your loyal customers to add new younger ones. Bad marketing move as you have now discovered. I can only wear elastic waist pants due to spinal issues and hate the ones that aren't fitted. If anyone finds a supplier of great jeans like Cabin Creek let me know.

I loved the Cabin Creek Denim Leggings. Myself and all my girlfriends loved them. We never understood why you stopped making the denim straight legging with no pockets. I bought about 15 pair before you stopped making them. I am down to 2 pair and they are wearing out. Please bring them back.

I also loved Cabin Creek Denim Leggings. I bought the size 1x and they fit perfectly with room to spare. They were never baggy or too big in the legs or rear. Why is it every time I get on to something I like they have to discontinue it? Like one lady said where is the JC Penny loyalty that used to be there when we were young. They seem to cater to the young people from what I see in their so called newly decorated stores. I also loved their catalog. The Christmas catalog was a favorite when I was growing up in the 50's and 60's. The dolls for little girls were beautiful in the catalogs. Today, there isn't such a thing as a beautiful baby doll in any of the catalogs or in any of these super stores. Thanks for listening. Hope they bring our leggins back soon, mine are getting thin!!!!

I too loved those Cabin Creek leggings. They weren't as tight as regular leggings but weren't loose and baggy like mosr elastic waist pants. I'm very short and the petite size was the perfect length for me. I sure wish there was something similar out there.

Why Have You Stopped Selling Women's Size Clothing and Cabin Creek Jeans

LEWISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA -- I went to JC Penney's around Christmas to get some new Cabin Creek Jeans only to find out they do not carry them anymore. I could not believe my ears. These are the only jeans I have bought for years. So I looked around the store to see about corduroy pants and I could not find any Women's. The clerk showed me the only rack of Women's clothing which was about 10 items. I don't know what they are thinking. I am not the only large sized woman and I know a lot of people that bought Cabin Creek jeans. I have not been back and probably won't until I learn that they have brought back Women's sizes and CABIN CREEK JEANS!!!

I know what you mean. I went to Penney's looking for nice women's size clothing and they had next to nothing! I was surprised and extremely disappointed. Guess Dress Barn and Catherine's gets all my business now.

I was reading on CNN that JCP is one of the biggest business flops of 2012 - - and I totally agree that their new marketing model stinks. I wear an 8 tall and counted on St. John's Bay for years for quality clothing at a decent price. Now all they have is cheap clothing for 20 year olds.

I, too, have usually ordered Cabin Creek (last brand I got) twill slacks size women's petite for many years. I had not ordered in awhile but now want to buy but they don't carry. I am so disappointed. Will have to look elsewhere. So sad to read that WPs and women's not available.

Wrongfully Accused Of Shoplifting

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS -- On March 30, 2009 myself, my 2 children, and my sister n law and her baby were shopping at the JcPenney store. We first went to the men’s department were I picked out 2 pair of jeans for my husband and draped them over the top of my double stroller. I then went to the women’s department were I picked out 4 pair of Capri pants and draped them over the top of the stroller as well. I then, along with my children and sister went into the handicap dressing room to try on the Capri pants. 1 pair fit, so I left it on the stroller with the men’s jeans and left the other 3 pair hanging in the dressing room. We then went to the cash register were a cashier was checking a woman in front of me. A male with a supervisor badge on approached the cash register and told me he could check me out.

While I was checking out there was a woman standing behind me the entire time. I did not think anything of her because she was not wearing a name badge. I thought it strange however that as the man was checking me out, he loudly stated each item I was purchasing, as well as the cost of the items. He announced 2 pairs of men’s jeans $x each, and 1 pair of Capri pants at $x”. After paying for the items and sliding the bag under my daughter’s feet in the stroller, I was given the receipt and he pointed out the customer satisfaction survey on the bottom and asked if I would give a satisfactory response.

My family and I then left the store out into the mall to do shopping elsewhere. We had got almost to the corner of another store and the 2 people from the cash register (the man who checked me out and the woman from behind me) stopped us, 1 in front of the stroller and 1 behind it and asked us to follow them. As I was following them, I politely asked the woman what this was all about and she said she could not tell me, I just needed to follow her. They escorted us all the way through the store to the back into a small room.

At this time, the woman stated pulling my purse and diaper bag from the back of my stroller and going through them. I removed my children from the stroller at that time. She said “you don’t have to remove your children” I told her that I would not leave my children in the stroller while she searched through it. Mind you, my 4 year old son was getting very upset asking what was going on. As she was going through these things, she said “you took 2 pair of men’s jeans from the men’s department into the dressing room and you did not come out of the dressing room with them, do you want to explain yourself?” She now had the items from my diaper bag out on the table. I then told her I just purchased the 2 pair of men’s jeans, they were right there in the bag along with the receipt. She then looked to the man who checked me out and said “did she purchase those items?” He told her yes and she said “then why didn’t you tell me?” He just stammered saying things like “I did…you were right there….” She shoved my things back in the bag and just said sorry and started to walk off. I turned to the man and asked for him to give me my money back for the items I had purchased. He did.

During all of this, I was extremely humiliated. They escorted me through the entire store with my children, my sister, and the entire store watching. I was wrongfully accused of shoplifting 2 items that never left the top of my stroller and which I had indeed paid for while they both stood there and watched. I was detained without any explanation as to why at first and then my personal belongings were gone through without my consent. I felt much violated and very emotional about the whole ordeal.

I called the corporate office and explained to a woman in Customer relations about what had happened. She assured me that the complaint would be turned over to the manager of that store and he would handle the problem and call me at a later time. He did indeed call me and I was told “I am sorry, there was a miscommunication between 2 employees and I have spoken with them”. I don’t know exactly what I was expecting him to say, but I did expect it to be more then that.

I still don’t know what I am expecting by writing this letter and complaining, but I am taking this matter very seriously. This ordeal could have been handled with more dignity and respect. They could have very easily asked to see my receipt and my items instead of escorting me through the store and detaining me like they did. I understand that there are a lot of problems and troublemakers in our world today and repercussions should be made for theft. Myself and my family, unfortunately did nothing wrong, and not once did I feel like I was given a sincere apology from anyone, even after it was confirmed that there was a miscommunication between employees. My husband and I like to shop at this store very much. We spend several hundred dollars there every year, and have many friends who do the same. At this time, I do not feel like I could be comfortable returning to shop at your store. I know that my sister n law that was with me, as well as the rest of my extended family will not feel comfortable as well.

I would have been LIVID. How dare anyone search your stroller with your kids in it without telling you what the heck they were doing! And then to accuse you of shoplifting items that you paid for!

Miscommunication or not, those people do not belong in the job they are doing if they cannot communicate properly to one another.

I would have told them to bite me and call a cop when asked to follow them, and expect a lawsuit to follow. You had a receipt for the items purchased, did nothing wrong.

Kinda like when a wallyworld employee tried to stop me, I explained give it your best shot, but be prepared to defend yourself and your company in court for false detention. They left me alone.

They followed you to another store and made you come back? Can they even do that?!? Yep, I agree with jkt..you should have told them to get lost or if they felt you needed to be detained they would need to call the police. Although, I imagine that in the moment it's pretty hard to think clearly when you're being attacked like that...sorry you had to go through that and good for you for contacting their corporate offices, hopefully something is done about it.

I think the OP is a drama queen. Her statement aboue everyone in the store staring at her as she was escorted to the security office is pure hokum. JC Penney hass some of the best LPAs available, and they are careful to keep the proceedings very low key. If people were staring, it was probably because the OP was crrying on and attracting her own attention. JKT, I have always respected you and indeed, you are on my trust list. Let me start by again letting you know I have worked as an LPA and as a sreet cop. I have seen the statement before that WalMArt greeters do not have the right to ask to see your receipt and check your bags. WRONG!!! Stores have an absolute right to examine ANY pacakge you may be carrying, as long as you are on their property. the fact that you paid for it is immaterial, they still have the right to examine it if you are on their property. The store employee let it go, apparently feeling it wasn't worh it. If he had pushed it, yu coul have been cited or arrested for Disorderly Conduct and possibly been given a trespassing warning, whch would mean you could never go there again. People get strange ideas about what the laws are, but I hope I have helped you understand why when a guy in Arizona was caught with a bag of K-Mart merchandise in a CVS bag, with a three day old receipt and a pocket stapler, why he was charged with burglary.

As a Loss Prevention Officer at JCPenneys, I would like to appoligize. I can assure you that per company standards, the two associates who wrongly accused you of theft were breaking company policies. There are specific things we look for in potential shoplifters, 2 or more people entering a fitting room (even the handicap) at the same time does look suspicious. I am not condoning their actions, they were wrong, But hopefully you can see where they were coming from. In my store, if I or any of my LP officers make 1 'bad stop' our jobs are on the line. Don't let a few bad apples ruin your Penneys shopping expierence for ever.

Respectfully, jcquarters, if the LPO's actions were 'wrong', why should the OP be expected to 'see where they were coming from'? That makes your apology pretty empty. If the goal is 'loss prevention', rather than 'shoplifter apprehension', Starlord's comments are correct; stop the suspect before leaving. Going for apprehension, rather than loss prevention, suggests a desire by LPOs to play at being LEOs.

Bring back Cabin Creek Pants

HAMPSHIRE, ILLINOIS -- Just went to JC Penney to purchase Cabin Creek pants which I have worn for years - none found - said they are discontinued. The entire store was a disappointment. Nothing like the middle class family store it used to be - extremely disappointed that I can't find these Cabin Creek pants anywhere. PLEASE bring them back!!!! The new CEO has run this prized company into the ground and should be fired immediately!!! Hire someone who knows what families and working women want. Will never go into Penney's again to shop unless they bring back the Cabin Creek brand of pants. Nothing in there interests me - gaudy colors and styles, etc.... looks like they are trying to complete with Macy's or Carson's and have failed miserably!

Why would you get rid of the one of the most popular selling brands of all time for Penny's?
Bottom line - bring Cabin Creek back, or go under with your poor management.

I totally agree. Cabin Creek twill pants are the only slacks I wear for work. I am short and have always appreciated being able to get the WP sizing for shorter women. I no longer shop at JCPenney, which used to be the main store I shopped at for clothes. Since they have discontinued Cabin Creek, I simply don't even go there anymore. The last few times I was there, the merchandise seemed exceptionally tacky and cheap. Very disappointed--I was a lifelong Penney's fan and have worn Cabin Creek twill pants for over 30 years. PLEASE bring them back.

I, too, am very disappointed that Penney's no longer carries Cabin Creek pants for women. They are all I have been wearing for many years, ever since I discovered them at the store. They are very durable and wash well, and they look as though they will survive another l00 washes. Please, Penney's, restock them, please. I will truly be grateful.

Why you are not selling cabin creek blouses and jeans

ASHLAND, KENTUCKY -- I went to order some cabin creek shirts and jeans and to my surprise jc penny's is not going to sell that brand any more. I would like to know why? These are the best oxford blouses and jeans put out. This crap they sell now, silky, big flowers is so ugly I wouldn't put it on a dog. Why get rid of the clothes people like? It was bad enough when they got rid of the catologs and starting sending out these little books, that has some of the wildest looking clothes in them.

We are all not young and we don't like these wild colors. Who is doing the marketing for jcpennys now. You have lost a lot of customers by stopping the big catolog. A lot of people do not have a computer and and can't find things in store. Shame on you pennys for going for the younger shopper

JCP has not only discontinued Cabin Creek they also appear to be doing away with St. John's Bay. What little they do have is of very poor quality. JCP used to be my "go to" store for work clothes but no longer. They have lost the entire over 50 demographic. I do understand, however, why they no longer have catalogs because they are too expensive to produce and distribute and also with on-line ordering they don't have to maintain the same high staffing levels.

I agree, getting rid of America's favorite brands is going to hurt JCPenney or as it is now called JCP. The shiny photo stock ads they now have must cost a fortune to print and mail. The specialty catalogs were much cheaper to produce and friendlier to use.

It is the middle-aged demographic that JCP threw out into the cold... and along with us our money.

I'm the one who shops for the whole family, and I wouldn't go back now if they begged.

Discontinuing the catalogs made sense to me. It must have been incredibly expensive to create and distribute them. I'm over 50, and have used the catalogs in the past. I admit that shopping online is not as much fun and I'm not as comfortable with it.

JCP is going through some changes. I hope they are successful, as I am invested with them.

The specialty catalogs were just another form of advertisement. They came out with one for Big and Tall men and also twice a year with fall/winter and a spring/summer Cabin Creek and other JCPenney store brands. They were targeted customers that had bought those products before. Much better than this stuff that is mailed today on photo stock, 8X10 glossy of nothing but junk, pages and pages of it.

The new JCP clothing that is coming out is disposable clothing, stuff that will be worn maybe 5 or six times, seriously look at the colors how long are skinny florescent jeans going to be in style? The fabric on most of this stuff is so thin it won't go through the wash more than once or twice.

I think these CEO's are watching reality TV, they think kids have money to buy whatever they want.

Ever hear of a place called Malaysia? That's Penneys new source for clothing. Don't fret it though. Rumor has it they'll be padlocked after the first of the year. They're finding out bigtime that you can't sell that kind of junk at mid market prices.

I agree with all of the comments. I no longer shop at JCP for clothing, as I found Cabin Creek to be high quality, true to size, washed well, and wore well. I adored Cabin Creek skirts, and owned quite a few.
JCP should turn back to their old business model, and should bring back Cabin Creek clothing. I wore those dippy flourescent colors in the 1980s, and will never wear them again. I prefer classic clothing that I can wear for both work and Church.

I used to buy Cabin Creek oxford style blouses from JCP on line- I had many of them, and was extremely disappointed when I learned they are no longer selling them. I emailed, called and was told the decision was made to stop selling the brand. WHY? They were long lasting, good quality, comfortable, easy care and fit my needs perfectly. Two friends of mine who also owned several of these blouses felt the same way. Every now and then I do a search to see if someone is selling them but no luck. It infuriates me the customer is not being listened to. I no longer will shop at Penneys- can't find what I want there anymore.

What Is Going on With JC Penney in General?

As for jcpenney in general, I have had a Jcp credit card for as long as I can remember – back to somewhere in the 70s. jcpenney has always been my “go to” store for anything I wanted: clothing, shoes, housewares, baby gifts, jewelry…….absolutely EVERYTHING. This new change of format is blatantly aimed at a younger customer base. It doesn’t even try to appeal to us older folks – the ones that have kept JC Penney (the original name) in business for the past 30 or 40 years. Shame on you for throwing us out in the cold! Your displays, the clothing choices, even your TV ads are totally foreign to the over 40 crowd. I don’t like it and am seriously considering cancelling my jcpenney account. It seems to be of very little use anymore. Your merchandise quality is plummeting and all seems to be made somewhere other than the USA. That is disgusting. I loved the sales and the coupons. I don’t like special days for discounted merchandise. I may not be able to make it in town to shop on those days.

I think JCP is on the doorstep of bankruptcy.
I went in this morning for briefs. There is hardly any stock on the shelves. They did not have any size 36 mens briefs. Most of the sizes were missing.
In the past these items have always been plentiful.
It did not look good in the store.

There have been some large changes at JCP, that are bound to affect long-time customers such as yourself. I sure hope they aren't at death's door, as Bill suggests, as I am an investor. I did, however, also have a similar experience in the briefs department on my last visit - some items were out or near out of stock. Maybe they are predicting a switch to boxers :)

Turning their customer base off with the elimination of sales and coupons coupled with their promotion of homosexuality in their ads was a really bad move for the company. I was always a loyal Penney's shopper. What has turned me away from Penney's is it isn't Penney's anymore. It looks to me like the Anna's Linens of the the department stores now. I also feel that they don't want the over 40 crowd to shop there anymore.

For decades Penney's was my favorite store for clothing, bedding, lamps, curtains, etc., until they changed. Even the bigger Penney's stores that used to carry so much more carry so much less than they used to. It's so sad to see how cheap their bedding has become, as it used to be such good quality. I used to gladly pay for that quality but if I want the quality they have now, I'll just shop at Target.

Where the bigger Penney's store I used to shop at had a huge housewares department, it's been mostly taken over by teen boy clothing and they have just this tiny housewares department left.

I may be over 40, but I do have children in their teens and their twenties. My children don't shop at Penney's. They refuse to shop there for clothing or anything else. They shop at Forever 21 and clothing stores aimed just at them like it. When I see the high gloss white, super modern mannequins at Penney's wearing the neon color jeans lined up in a row, it is so obvious that they want the younger crowd. I would have to say that they're trying to go for the Forever 21 crowd. I know that my children will never accept Penney's as the happening place to go for their clothing.

I used to spend thousand of dollars each year in Penney's. Not only for myself and my husband, but also for my mother as well. It's so obvious that Penney's doesn't want the over 40 crowds business. I won't be missing this new Penney's. I am sad that the Penney's that I knew and loved is gone now. It was the Penney's who wanted my business. I'll shop at another department store who still wants the over 40 crowds business.

I totally agree with all the above. It's as though another chapter of my life is submitted to history now with Penney's new "attitude." It makes me very sad to think that such a wonderful store has chosen another direction especially when it was founded on Christian principles and thus made its tremendous success. I also have been a long-time customer and have spent hundreds of dollars over the years. When I went in the store a few days ago, I almost cried to see the drastic change in the style of clothing which is apparently aimed at the much younger generation.

I hate to say goodbye, but I feel I must with deep regret.

Using Ellen DeGeneres as a spokes person for JCP

I am very disappointed in JC Penney for using Ellen DeGeneres as a spoke person for the company.

I have shopped at JCP for over 60 years now. I will not shop at JCP as long as Ellen is doing commercials. As I see it JCP is no longer a family oriented company.

As a husband of 12 years, a father, and financial services professional, I will shop at JC Penney because of Ellen. Not because I'm a huge Ellen fan (she was great as Dory, and can be pretty funny), but because it will show the narrow-minded that their opinion is the minority.
Whether it be some interpretation of an interpretation of...some religious document, or just ignorance, this is the same thinking that pushes so called "people" to protest at soldiers' funerals. It just makes me angry.

Ellen has been married since August 2008, so she is a lot more of a family person than I am. She also has won numerous awards and works hard for charity. I like her as a person, but her "dancing" on her show does nothing for me. That is the only thing negative I can think of.

I think it is outstanding that gay people can be married today, and have successful careers in the public eye. Who knows, maybe in 100 years they will be totally accepted. You know, as people.

I thought the screaming commercials were funny. Annoying but funny. I think showing them for a short period of time just to get attention actually worked in this case. I have a feeling the people who hated those commercials already forgot them.

Looks like everyone is expressing an opinion, and nobody has said anything to lessen the importance of the review. I'm glad it was posted, to remind everyone that Mrs. Doubtfire's vision of the range of family structures has not yet been totally realized.

If one wants to make wine out of water, I don't see it happening here. I know of another website where you can make a big deal out of nothing, and do it for years. However, I don't see thought provoking opinions or interjections being offered respectfully there, just nonsense and tomfoolery. I prefer to have my mind stimulated.

Actually Ellen is a very big family woman. I am really confused by this post! There is probably very few people out there that sacrifice as much as she does for her family! If you can respect the fact that everyone has a viewpoint, and those viewpoints may differ from your own, that is healthy. It is when people start to forget that we should respect other points of view that don't gel with our own that we begin to stop debating and devolve into destructive discourse.

Pointing out the weakness in another point of view is a healthy thing, and it can help both sides learn. If you devolve into calling people names, there isn't going to be much of a debate about the issues. That is a sure sign your mind is already closed on the matter and further discussion is pointless. As long as you can keep the stance on an issue, and the person who is taking that stance seperate, you can usually carry on a healthy discussion.

Everyone has an opinion and are entitled to it, and there is no reason for the opinion or the person expressing it to be distorted or belittled.
Not everyone is capable of debating in a constructive manner, and some are incapable of rationally debating at all.

A very nice family with three young kids one street over, has two Mommies and no Daddies. What is 'family oriented' in their home? Probably the same thing in everyone else's house on the street I would guess.

As a side note, I still like the Heavy-T's that Penny's sells. About all I buy at Penny's any more. Ellen has zero to with my buying my T's from Penny's or not. She will not make me buy any more or any less from Penny's. Oh', and I really like Ellen, she is very funny and I love all her charity work.

LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN -- Today I went to my local JC Penny store. I had started liking them a lot lately because they have cute clothes at reasonable prices. I even opened a JCP card. I bought two pairs of jeans a week ago. I tried them on at the store, and they felt fine. I took them home and took off the tags. I kept all the tags and my receipt just in case. I have a hard time with jeans, and am not sure how they will work until I wear them. I wore one pair for a day. I noticed they stretched out a lot during the day, and became baggy. I held on to them until I was able to return them. I tried on the other pair to see if this was a fluke, but the other pair did the same thing. I took the items to the cashier to return them. A short, middle aged, blonde woman came to help me. We were proceeding with the return, and I thought it was fine as I had the tags and receipt. Then she felt up the jeans and looked at them very closely. "These have been worn," she said. I said yes I did wear them, and they did not work out. She said "well we can't take these back, they've been worn. They are junk now. Used jeans. We can't resell them to someone else." I explained I had my receipt, the tags, I only wore them once. She said "it doesn't matter, if there was a manufacturer's error, then we could take them back, but no, we can't take back used jeans." I took the items and started to walk away from the counter, when the woman called out to me in a snotty tone "Maybe you should have tried them on first at the store and been more careful with them." I turned and said to her I did try them on and I was sorry. I felt horrible, and very sad. I had no idea that their return policy was that strict. I am going to go to Kohl's now for clothing because they have a much better return policy. I will no longer give JC Penney my business.

I think that's a smart decision. Kohl's would have taken them back with no questions asked. I think Kohl's carries better quality clothing, too.

When my daughter was a teenager, I bought a lot of her clothes in JCPenney's junior department. She liked the styles, but the quality was terrible. The last straw was Arizona jean shorts that curled up so badly after washing I couldn't straighten them out. I returned them and never bought her clothes there again.

There is a thing called rent and wear..
Its when someone buys something for just one occassion and then returns them after wearing them.
I have to agree with Penneys, especially since you wore both jeans for over a day.
I have many pairs of jeans. I would say that most stretch a bit after wearing, depending on how tight in the first place.

Ok so you need a really nice dress that you probably will never wear again to go to a prom or fancy affair .
You cant find anything for under $100...Thats ok just go to the store buy what you need. When you are done with the item just return it cause you dont like it.
I have had a couple of items in the 30 or so years that I have shopped at Penneys have flaws. I had no problem returning them..One came apart at the seams and with the other the zip broke on 2nd wearing.

When I worked at Mervyns, we took back worn clothing all the time. If it was something that couldn't be re-sold, then we had to throw it away. But we would honor our return policy.

Check your labels! Most reasonably priced womens's jeans have a little bit of lycra in them which results in some "give" throughout the day.

Spiderman...That has been my experience with jeans..Most of my jeans tighten up a bit after wash and dry and then relax as I wear them.

If it was just that they had give to them during the day...That to me is not a return issue.

The weave in most materials will stretch with wear.
If you Kohls jeans dont relax with wear then stick with them.

Jeans stretch but shouldn't become baggy. Without seeing them, it's hard to tell if they were defective. I don't think this would be a case of 'rent and wear'. It was two pairs of jeans with the same problem.

I'm not familiar with JCPenney's return policy, but I do now that Kohl's would have taken them back. They might have ended up on the clearance rack at a deep discount. I don't know how they determine what can be resold, or what they do with clothing that can't be put on the clearance rack, but I think people are willing to buy clothing that has been worn if the price is right.

I've never had a problem with returning clothes to any store once the tag has been removed, that's ridiculous what happened to you. It doesn't matter the reason for the return, as long as you have the receipt. They obviously didn't fit right once you tried them on at home, end of story.

I work at JCP and that is NOT the return policy. you may return the pants with or without the tags, with or without the receipt. however without the receipt we have no idea what you paid for them so you likely won't get the full amount back but we will take the return. the clerk that you dealt with was 100% wrong. try again and ask for a manager if the clerk gives you a problem.

JC Penney's has horrible training and poor associate retention caused by its recent corporate mistakes. Kohls is much better - never had any problems with returns or exchanges. The quality is much better too!

Late Fees For Paid Off Balance

FT. WORTH, TEXAS -- This is a copy of the letter I wrote to JC Penney about my experience.


Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to let you know that I had contacted the credit department at 800-542-0800 to inquire about a bill. The person's name I talked to was "Sekani". She continually talked over me and would not let me finish a sentence. She disconnected the call before I could finish saying why I called in. I warned her if she hung up that I would report her and she said that was fine so now I am. In the end, my reason for calling in was not resolved because of this and JC Penney will not be receiving any payment from me. My account number is xxxxxxxxx. The balance was paid in full. These are late fees which added up over time which I did not know existed and never received any statements for. This was the first purchase I made with the JC Penney card. I paid the bill when I got it and it was late because I got the statement late. Regardless of the fact that it is the customer's responsibility to pay the bill ontime whether or not he receives a statement, the reality is that in the real world people wait for the statement to see what their payment needs to be. This purchase was back in the spring of 2003 and I NEVER received not one statement after paying this bill letting me know there were any late fees assessed to this account. It's now October of 2004. I was compltely unaware that JC Penney was piling late fee on top of late fee every month until I got a call and a letter from a collection agency this summer. My position is that this was too long ago and there was a tremendous lack of communication on JC Penney's part so this needs to be cleared off my credit report. I am writing this in hopes you can resolve this issue and clear my credit before I file a complaint with the state Department of Justice and the Better Business Bureau etc... I will await your quick reply.

I get a call from someone who's policy cancelled for non payment back in May and she calls today wanting to know why...Stated she never recieved a bill and all I could think was do you remember making a payment since May? Did you think that hey I most not owe anything for six months?Some people really are dense

I have a similar situation myself in regards to not receiving statements.

In my case, I had not used the card since it was last paid in full in Dec 07 and that is when I received the last statment.

Jan 08 JC Penney changed my mailing address in my account without my knowledge or consent and placed fraudulent charges on my account at the same time.

JCP Collections also made no attempt to contact me when the account went into default or to find out why the USPS was returning the statements as undeliverable as addressed.

I live in a rural area and do not have the option for mail delivery at my home. I have a PO box that all mail has to be correctly addressed to and it was that PO Box that I gave them as my mailing address. They changed the PO Box to my street address. Which I was required to provide in the credit application.

As I had not used the card I was not expecting to receive any statements. I was completely unaware until the collection agency called telling me that my account with 0 balance had been sent to collections.

However - they did not just send it to collections - they list it as a charge-off and sold $200 in bogus debt to the collection agency for about 20 cents.

What little I have been able to discover came from my credit report.
Approx $100.00 was charged in Jan 08 and the remaining charges were late fees and interest. So for 8 months they sat on it and allowed my account to go into default.

based on the unauhorized address changes, fraud charges and no contact by JCP - tells me at least one person knew the charges to be fraudulent and that is why it was allowed to default.

I have filed formal complaints against JC Penney credit - with the FTC for violating the Fair Credit Billing Act and credit card fraud. The US Postal inspectors for mail fraud because unauthorized changes to your mailing address is considered mail fraud. ( I called them and asked) And the TC State Attorney General's office.

I have sent via certified mail disputes with Signature receipt to JCP, the collection agency and one other company I was told was also involved.

And I am looking at retaining an attorney - this is the 3rd creditor that has made this same unauthorized change to my mailing address and I am FED UP WITH IT

PLANTATION, FLORIDA -- I am so disappointed in the changes JC Penney has made to my beloved store. I have been a regular shopper at JC Penney for 30+ years and I just can't believe they discontinued my Cabin Creek pants. For the first time I didn't go there for any Christmas shopping. I used to buy all my gifts and all of my family's clothing and home goods. The store was so busy before the changes were made, now it's empty.

Please bring back the Cabin Creek brand and the coupons and all the old stuff we loved about JC Penney, before you file chapter 11.

I agree, JC Penney has discontinued MANY favorite brands such as St Johns Bay. These brand were strong brands for the company and I can't believe they do not understand who their customer base is and what brands are the money makers for them. This company is moving toward extinction if they don't hire people who understand marketing.
