LEEDS, WYOMING -- I signed up with LA fitness in Sep 2011. I unfortunately lost my job in November 2011 and continued to pay the gym until April when I could no longer afford and got in touch with them. After many, many, MANY letters, phone calls and emails my issue has still not being resolved even when doing what they asked to cancel my membership. They continuously send me threatening letters about owing money and I am overall disgusted with they way I have been treated and made to feel like a rubbish! Please be aware people to not join this gym, don't fall for their fake smiles.

My issue is still on going and I don't want any one to have to put up with what I have with them.
LA Fitness refused to honor existing Bally Total Fitness rates after buying Bally Total Fitness clubs. Shameless with a bad attitude to boot! 2 Replies - Latest reply on 05/17/2012Add reply
On Sunday morning the locker rooms are dirty, shortage of towels, half the showers not working properly, dirty floors and showers. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 02/29/2012Add reply
CAMP HILL, PENNSYLVANIA -- Buyer Beware -Horrible experience!! It is probably the most unethical fitness facility. We became members and the sales agents signed us up for personal training sessions which we found we could never use because one most of the trainers are not well trained themselves and two the ones who are trained are never available. The sales agent told me we could cancel at any time which I found when we went to cancel is untrue because they suddenly show you the fine print which says to cancel you owe them 50% of the balance - something they never tell you when they make you sign up. They have no customer service and are most unprofessional. Makes one wonder what the health of American business is today. 2 Replies - Latest reply on 02/27/2012Add reply
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I was member of Bally Total Fitness. I had cancelled my membership with them. If you search on them they are 1 star rating. Now they are bought by LA Fitness. Out of nowhere they started charging me money even though my membership is expired with Bally Total Fitness. They are as useless as Bally. I called them to cancel my membership and they said I need to go to some club to cancel as they cannot do it online. I can login to Bally but it forwards it to LA where I cannot login. What a mess. Very dishonest company. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 12/28/2011Add reply

LA fitness is rude, they are not friendly and their class schedules are always wrong. I have left work early so many times to attend certain classes only to discover after you call that is not even the class they are offering. It is something else and you do not even work up a sweat. Everyone makes excuses and it is always way too crowded. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 11/19/2011Add reply
Changed my credit card. They called NUMEROUS times per day all weekend to get paid. I told them I was ill and would resolve it Monday. The calls kept coming. Called corporate Monday to tell about the harassment. They didn't care. I paid the $40 and cancelled my membership. The gym is okay. Their company sucks 2 Replies - Latest reply on 10/17/2011Add reply

Do not choose this gym!
I had so many bad experiences there, but continued to go, because it was convenient and too expensive to join another gym. It was the ABSOLUTE worst service I have ever received.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- I have been a member of L. A. Fitness, Navajo Rd & Lake Murray Blvd, for 2+ years. I work out on Sunday afternoons and find the men's restroom conditions deplorable. Nearly every Sunday afternoon, paper towel dispensers are empty. This afternoon (July 24, 2011) every paper towel dispenser was empty, as was the toilet paper dispenser in 2 of the 3 stalls. Most Sundays the trash can is overflowing and spilling on to the floor. L. A. Fitness preaches good health and habits. I guess that doesn't extend to cleanliness in their own facilities. Why am I using "my3cents.com"? Because L. A. Fitness's complaint process is so convoluted and hard to find that it is an act of desperation. I am happy with the workout facility. The men's restroom facilities, on Sundays especially, sucks1 Replies - Latest reply on 07/24/2011Add reply
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA -- Shame on LA Fitness... I have had a membership there for at least 10 years. It was a $99 a year membership. When they called my husband to remind him that his membership had come up for renewal, I went in to renew his membership and mine. It was then that I was told that my membership had lapsed 4 months ago... I did not get a notice in the mail. I did not get a phone call... I did not get an email... So now they are telling me that I can pay $799 and get the $99 yearly renewal. Yeah, right.

They tried to tell me that they did not have my phone number but when they were looking up my husbands information, they typed in my home phone and my husbands, my daughters and my name came up. Yeah, right.
My suspicion... they deliberately let my membership lapse because it was only $99 a year.
Shame on you LA Fitness.
I joined before this club opened because I was so excited about it. It's horrible!

The first summer is was so hot I could hardly stand to go there. In the winter early in the morning it's so hot on the upper deck that you can barely use the equipment. All the front desk says is that the temp is controlled by corporate and when you call corporate they tell you that the manager can change the temp. Last Saturday (85 degrees) when I got there the front doors were open and when I asked if the air conditioning was working the girl at the desk simply said "nope". This is CHICAGO, there are 24 hour A/C companies available to service an emergency.
I will go there one more time and then, if the temp isn't correct, I'm quitting.
What a shame, it' a great location. But there are several clubs in the area so no reason to stay at one that treats people so poorly.
LA Fitness is in a downward death spiral. I have watched the condition of their Dallas area clubs decline over the past few years and recently had a run in with one of their "professional" trainers (Richardson TX club) who was tying up multiple pieces of equipment for their client and refused to let anyone else work in. It was a very nasty encounter and their management just shrugged it off.

These are very sad places!
LA Fitness seems to have a real problem with the cooling system in their gyms. During the winter months, the cardio area (which is upstairs) is like a furnace. All of the heat rises. During the summer months, it is just plain hot and sticky in the entire gym. I have complained on numerous occasions to the staff as well as the corporate offices. The response is the same . . . unresponsive and dismissive and, today, down right rude. I highly recommend that you stay away from this poorly run business and take your hard-earned money to a gym that deserves your business. I have cancelled my membership as of today -- I only hope I don't get the run-around I've read about.2 Replies - Latest reply on 06/09/2011Add reply
