Flyers That They Don't Honor
Posted by Gordisimalopez on 07/16/2013
I received a flier in the mail with a special offer and with out a due date, with two coupons where they said redeem by 7/15/13. I went to the gym yesterday the 7/15/13 and tried to subscribe and results that the offer is not valid any more. If you are going to have a due date you must write it on the flier, otherwise you would have to honored the offer or it means you lie to the customers.

One of the Worst Gym Ever
Posted by Vahapkalkan on 07/15/2013
CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY -- LA Fitness is one of the worst places ever. I became a member to lose some weight and get in shape but the place is so disgusting there is no fresh air you just want to throw up. You can not stay in the facility more than 10 minutes. They have lack of air circulation. I couldn't bare that disgusting place more than a month. I wanted to cancel the membership, but no it seems it is impossible.

You have to fill out a form and send it via mail. After waiting two weeks they still didn't cancel my membership and charged me again. When I called the customer service they were so rude they said they didn't receive my mail yet and they asked me to send it a certified mail. THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO STOP CHARGING YOU. DO NOT REGISTER FOR THAT PLACE!!!

Worst Gym I Joined
Posted by Beautyfulvixen89 on 06/24/2013
WYOMISSING, PENNSYLVANIA -- I go to this gym and at first I like the gym but then they started getting cheap. They shut off the air conditioner which is bad because it smells like s*** in there. The customer service line is so unprofessional that when I called to complaint they hung up 3 times. They make Wal-Mart employers look great. The trainers there are the only good thing about this gym but too bad they don't work for another company.

They shut off the wireless access most of the time so you can't listen to music if you depend on wireless access. Machines are constantly broken and don't get repaired for a while. My biggest mistake was joining this gym so if you're thinking about a gym make sure it isn't this one. I don't plan on joining any other gym because of this and I won't be coming back to this place.

They are still taking out money out my bank account even after I closed the account. La Fitness CEO needs to retrain all their employees and get better attitudes if you're going to be dealing with paying members.

Lazy Uncaring Employees
Posted by Dcarver on 06/23/2013
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Always hair in the showers. They say they wipe down equipment but when I left something there on a machine still there next day. Shared a racquetball court with flying roach. They did not tell someone else that there van was broken into they just talked about it among themselves. The same day my ipad was stolen from there. When I called the next day to ask them if anyone turned in. They were rude and acted as though we were bothering them.

Poor Management
Posted by Wwaiteforstaterep on 06/10/2013
FOLSOM, PENNSYLVANIA -- When a young man was "camped out" on a machine, playing with his phone, I asked to work in and reminded him that others were waiting and that common courtesy dictates that one leave the machine between reps, he became indignant and refused to get up saying "You're not getting the machine, I will stay on here as long as I want". When I spoke with the manager, he told me that he can't do anything about it, says everyone does it, and that he too "sits" on the equipment as long as he wants to.

Guess I was expecting too much. This same manager has done nothing about all the break ins in the locker rooms. When LA Fitness took over this location, they caused a great deal of confusion by not sharing correct information regarding the status of memberships, giving members different answers to the same questions, doing away with Silver Sneakers and making no attempt to retain those using the program, and giving conflicting stories regarding the future of the facility.

I will no longer be using this, or any other LA Fitness facility and in fact will give up the membership that I have had since 1978.

Common courtesy does not mandate that you leave your machine between "reps" ( I think you mean sets). I would never leave a machine between sets and be subject to someone elses sweat all over the machine. Many machines also necessitate the setting of resistance which would also be altered by someone elses usage. There is also a set time needed between sets that would be impossible to do by relinquishing the machine.

Do Not Join LA Fitness, Dirty & Sleazy & Ripoff Company
Posted by Dkingstylist on 06/04/2013
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- I was with Ballys (El Centro, LA) and since LA Fitness bought them, it was worse. The place has no hot water for days, shower & locker very dirty, no soap, no paper towels, theft inside locker room (inside job), employee was rude, I overheard the guy that worked there, to ask a customer to go outside so he can kicked hiss A--.

They closed down the gym for 2 months to fix the place & took out the steam room without telling us. Now we only have dry sauna but lots of people enjoying steam room. They also breach the contract from people with Ballys and jacked up the price, I was with Ballys for more than 15 years, my yearly dues was $99, they want to charge me $500 a yr, this is FRAUD! After many months of contacting Ballys to get my contract and Ballys (just as bad) another sleazy corporation, would not send me a copy of the contract. They are in cahoots with LA Fitness.

I took them to court and won the judgment, now they are not paying me, and I trying to collect them. So people you are being warned, it's time to let these sleazy company knows and shut them out of business, don't join Ballys and LA Fitness, go with 24 hours fitness much better. Boycott Ballys and LA Fitness, you have been warned.

Lack of Hand Soap/Sanitizer, General Lack of Cleaning
Posted by S.grafton on 04/10/2013
WASHINGTON -- I have been a member of LA Fitness at the Everett mall in WA ST for a little over a year. The equipment is great, some of the staff is very rude(trainers). The real problem I have is that I can see the same dirt/grime smudges on the bench in the locker room for days on end. It is so thick I could measure it with calipers. They have started to clean the showers, they didn't use to and there was black mold in the grout lines. The trainer doesn't clean or have the clients clean their equipment when they are done using it. This I could live with as there is cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer about the gym.

I noticed several months ago that the sanitizer dispensers were no longer being refilled, then they were removed from the walls that they were mounted on. I asked the staff and they said that they are in the process of changing brands of sanitizer. This was several months ago and there still no sanitizer. They have also removed the hand soap dispensers from the rest rooms.

File a complaint with your local health department. In many places having hand soap and sanitizer available is an operational or code requirement for this type of establishment.

Cancellation Problem
Posted by Marcandpatti on 02/26/2013
I terminated my membership and they continued to bill my credit card despite numerous phone calls and assurance the charges would be reversed. If you join, never give them your credit card to bill, it will never end.

This club is horrendously bad. Do not join or waste you money. Rude pushy road rage men. Dirty. Shortened hours. Continually raises fees. This place is run and occupied by road rage thugs. Women and men stay away it's not safe.

I've engaged in road rage in my life, but I don't believe anyone would characterize me as a thug. Is this a new expression, unrelated to its namesake?

I've heard phrases like "she's so ghetto," but not "he's road rage."
Posted by Cake and ice cream!! on 2012-11-06:
We have a club like that here too! The guys are full of road rage testosterone. There have been a couple of incidents in the parking lot there. The guys were like they were nuts, I guess they wanted to take it outside. I stay away from that area.
Posted by FoDaddy19 on 2012-11-06:
So is road rage what happens after roid rage, or is the other way around? Both scenarios seem plausible to me.
Posted by olie on 2012-11-07:
trm, I think OP means " 'Roid rage". As in using 'roids(steroids).

LA Fitness Will Only Broadcast CNN in their facilities
Posted by Lisarendelman on 09/13/2012
LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA -- I went to the gym this am. There were approximately 10 TV's for viewing. 3 of them were broadcasting CNN, 3 were broadcasting The View and the other 4 had sports channels. I went to the front desk to ask if I went to an area where no one was viewing the TV, could they please change the news broadcast to another news station. They told me it was a policy of LA Fitness to only view CNN as a news selection. My membership has been cancelled. I didn't know we were communists.

I'm not sure that's what being communists is. Maybe they have some sort of agreement with CNN where it's the news channel that they can show. Who knows?
Posted by Slimjim on 2012-09-13:
While they tip left too, despite their claims, if you had to pick one respected news outlet to view that was bi-partisan, then CNN would probably be it. The thing is, you canceling over the choice of broadcast was exactly the thing they were trying to avoid by mandating only neutral perspective news be shown in the gym. I do get their reasoning. You can just tell some history of problems must have arose at locations in the past over political views.
Posted by Anonymous on 2012-09-14:
Wait. Were you there to watch TV or work out? I don't see what the big deal is. Perhaps you should check out your local YMCA. Mine has individual TV's in front of each treadmill & elliptical. If watching a certain news channel is that important to you while you exercise, you would be off going to a gym that allows you full control of the TV.
Posted by onlooker on 2012-09-14:
You allowed their policy to stop your actions to get healthy?
You do not know communism, you should be careful how you throw the word around. You were allowed to leave, you have the right to listen to the news you want and you have options. I do hope you find a place you prefer.
Posted by FoDaddy19 on 2012-09-14:
I don't think the OP is familiar with what Communism is. But at any rate, if I'm going to the gym, I'm going there to exercise, not to watch TV. I can do that home.
Posted by wjk898 on 2012-09-17:
I've spent more time on and more time per workout on a tread mill than all of ya combined and YES I do watch TV while I'm treadmilling - which is at least 60 minutes a shot. It keeps me from getting bored. If it was me I would call LA Fitness Hdqtrs and tell them that "The View" is offensive to me...I once told a friend I was visiting to shut that insolent vulgar leftist/racist program off.
